WhatsApp Will Soon Offer AI-Powered Assist For Users Before Sending Messages
WhatsApp continues to test new AI features for its users and the messaging app is now looking to help you get better with messages. The latest beta version of WhatsApp gets a new AI-powered tool that helps users refine their chats before they send it.
Meta AI is the main hub of these features that the company is bringing to its products like WhatsApp and Instagram in the last few months. The latest news around AI for WhatsApp looks to go beyond generating images, creating a travel itinerary and more.
The feature called Writing Help has been spotted in the WhatsApp Android beta version 2.25.23.7 recently. The platform will use Meta's private processing tech to keep the messages secure even if you get the AI editor to make the changes. The app will also make sure that your identity remains anonymous and the chat is encrypted. Here's how the Writing Help will look on WhatsApp, as highlighted by tipster WaBetaInfo in a new post:
Meta AI is being put to use for editing, summarising and even creating messages on WhatsApp. The AI model will write the messages in different contexts and tones like Rephrase, Professional, Funny and Proofread. You don't have to edit all the messages using AI and have the option to send the original version as you have been doing for years.
The person receiving the message will not see any labels or know about the AI-assisted nature of the chat. WhatsApp will keep the feature disabled by default and only work when the user turns it on from the settings of their account.
WhatsApp is testing voice chat with Meta AI for Android users. The platform has gone through multiple phases of tests earlier, and it seems the availability could be back on the agenda for the company. The Meta AI chatbot will have a dynamic halo icon similar to Siri and answer your queries with the text given on the screen.
The AI chatbot will also cite the source for its response which is critical for the credibility of the platform in the long run. Meta AI will seek your permission to access the microphone and speaker on the phone so that the AI chatbot can hear and speak to you for commands.

WhatsApp accuses Russia of blocking calls for over 100 million users amid internet crackdown
WhatsApp accused Moscow of restricting calls to block secure communication for millions, as Russia pushes local apps and tightens internet control WhatsApp accused Moscow of trying to block millions of Russians from accessing secure communication after calls on the messaging app were restricted, as Russia promotes home-grown social media platforms and seeks greater control over the country's internet space. Russia said on Wednesday that it had started restricting some WhatsApp, owned by Meta Platforms, and Telegram calls, accusing the foreign-owned platforms of failing to share information with law enforcement in fraud and terrorism cases. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Text messaging services and voice notes are currently unaffected. A simmering dispute with foreign tech providers intensified after Moscow's February 2022 invasion of Ukraine, with Russia blocking Meta's Facebook and Instagram, slowing the speed of Alphabet's YouTube and issuing hundreds of fines to platforms that failed to comply with Russian rules on online content and data storage. 'WhatsApp is private, end-to-end encrypted, and defies government attempts to violate people's right to secure communication, which is why Russia is trying to block it from over 100 million Russian people,' WhatsApp said late on Wednesday, vowing to continue trying to keep encrypted services available in Russia. Telegram said it actively combats the harmful use of its platform, including calls for sabotage or violence and fraud, and that moderators use AI tools to remove millions of malicious messages every day. In July 2025, WhatsApp's monthly reach in Russia was 97.3 million people, compared to 90.8 million for Telegram, according to Mediascope data. Third-placed VK Messenger, an offering from state-controlled tech company VK, reached 17.9 million people. Russia has a population of more than 140 million people. Online monitoring services Downdetector and Sboy reported surges in internet users complaining about poor WhatsApp functionality. In Krasnodar, a region in southern Russia, local media also reported a drop off in mobile connectivity. A public Telegram group of Krasnodar taxi drivers was inundated on Thursday with complaints about poor mobile connectivity, with many drivers unable to use online maps to navigate around. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD 'What should I do, there's no map,' a driver named Sergei asked the 3,700 others in the forum. 'Download offline maps,' Alexei, another driver, suggested. 'For the future.' Steady degradation Russia banning WhatsApp and Telegram users from making calls comes as the government is actively promoting a new state-controlled messaging app, MAX, that will be integrated with government services and which critics fear could track its users' activities. Senior politicians are migrating to MAX, urging their followers to come with them. Anton Gorelkin, a leading regulator of Russia's IT sector in parliament, said he would post to his MAX followers first and said many other lawmakers would soon follow suit. 'Ultimately, they want to control users and the information they receive,' said Mikhail Klimarev, director of the Internet Protection Society, a Russian digital rights group. But MAX may not cope with a huge influx, Klimarev told Reuters, so a gradual adoption is preferable. And there is also a social consideration. 'Changes are never welcome,' Klimarev told Reuters. 'People don't like being forced to register somewhere (new).' WhatsApp's other services remain available for now, but the steady degradation of a service is a tactic Russia has employed before, notably with YouTube, where slower download speeds have made it harder for people to access content. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Human Rights Watch said in a report last month that Russia has been 'meticulously expanding [its] legal and technological tools to carve out Russia's section of the internet into a tightly controlled and isolated forum'. Lawmakers have approved a new law that tightens censorship and could have sweeping ramifications for digital privacy, with Russians facing fines if they search online for content Moscow considers 'extremist', including via virtual private networks that millions use to bypass internet blocks.

Report Suggests Apple Could Unveil Tabletop AI Robot Resembling WALL-E by 2027
Apple could be on its way to releasing a novel Apple AI robot that would take the form of a tabletop companion—a clever, emotive assistant akin to WALL-E from the Pixar film. Apple AI device news by Indian Express citing Bloomberg says that the rumored device will be the 'keystone of Apple's AI efforts in the coming years' and will be released by 2027. The new machine is reportedly akin to an iPad secured on a motorized arm capable of pivoting and rotating to follow someone around a room and will have natural language capabilities. In addition, the device will also have a next-generation Siri that can 'join group conversations, and remember things that were said previously.' Apple is said to be working on a face for the Apple WALL-E robot, which could be a sticker of an animated Finder logo, or another lively mascot to embody tabletop AI assistant, and the features it'll receive to make it useful, including a more powerful in-house AI codenamed LLM Siri, run by Apple's own 'Linwood' Apple robotics 2027 with other outside engines like 'Glenwood.' Apple's reported AI push will reportedly also include smart display speakers and smart security cameras with facial recognition, infrared sensors, and controls that can make lights turn on or music play when someone enters a room. The company is also said to be developing similar features and could soon bring them to Apple devices like the Apple Watch. Apple's large language model, internally labelled LLM Siri, is said to be launching some time next spring. The AI-powered Siri will employ an in-house developed technology called Linwood, as well as outside technology called Glenwood. Apple hasn't made a final decision, but it does seem like the tech giant is currently testing Anthropic's Claude.

WhatsApp brings new features to make group calls ‘more fun and productive': Details
AI generated Image Meta-owned WhatsApp is rolling out a set of new tools that is aimed to make group calls easier to organise and more interactive. With the new feature, the instant messaging app aims to address a common need for better coordination in both personal and professional settings. WhatsApp's new update introduces a 'Schedule call' feature. It will be available via the + button in the Calls tab, allowing users to set a date and time for a call, send invitations to individuals or groups, and share a dedicated call link. Further, the Calls tab will now display all upcoming calls alongside attendee lists, and users can add links directly to their personal calendars. To ensure no one misses a meeting, all participants will receive a notification shortly before the call begins. Raise hand and emoji reaction comes to WhatsApp calls In a bid to make conversations more orderly, WhatsApp has added two interactive tools for group calls. The 'raise hand' function, similar to the one in Google Meet, lets participants indicate they want to speak without cutting in, while reaction emojis give a way to respond instantly without disrupting the flow of discussion. Call link creators will also see improved controls—they will now get notified when someone joins a call using the link, making it easier to track attendance in real time. WhatsApp emphasised that, as with all personal communications on the platform, these calls remain protected by end-to-end encryption, meaning no one outside the conversation can access its content. The company said it expects the update to make group calls 'more fun and productive' for its global user base. Vivo V60 First Look: Better 'Shaadi Wala' Phone? AI Masterclass for Students.
