Bucks' Jericho Sims likely to miss rest of regular season after undergoing thumb surgery
Sims injured his thumb Saturday in a 126-119 victory over the Indiana Pacers, though he played 12 minutes Sunday in a 121-105 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Bucks said Sims is expected to miss four weeks, meaning he probably won't return until postseason play begins. The playoffs start April 19, with the play-in rounds taking place April 15-18. Milwaukee (38-29) is currently fourth in the Eastern Conference, and the play-in rounds are for teams that finish seventh through 10th.
Milwaukee acquired Sims from the New York Knicks at the trade deadline in exchange for Delon Wright. Sims had been earning regular playing time off the bench for the Bucks, whose frontcourt depth took a hit when Bobby Portis received a 25-game suspension on Feb. 25 for testing positive for the painkiller Tramadol.
Sims has averaged 2.4 points, 4.9 rebounds and 15 minutes in 14 games with the Bucks. The 6-foot-10 center had played 39 games for New York and was averaging 1.6 points, 3.3 rebounds and 10.8 minutes.

Dodgers' Ohtani roughed up by Rockies, leaves game after getting hit on right thigh by line drive
DENVER (AP) — Los Angeles Dodgers two-way star Shohei Ohtani had a forgettable outing in his first career pitching start against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field. Ohtani left Wednesday's game after giving up five earned runs and nine hits in four innings and getting hit in the leg by a comeback line drive. With runners at second and third and one out in the fourth inning, Ohtani got hit by a 93-mph line drive off the bat of Colorado's Orlando Arciao on his right leg that caused him to limp and grimace in pain. The liner struck the reigning National League MVP on the knee and ricocheted toward the first base line. Ohtani gave chase and grabbed the ball on the line, spun to make a throw, but had no play as a runner scored. After a mound visit from manager Dave Roberts and team medical personnel, Ohtani stayed in the game and got the last two outs of the inning, with the Dodgers trailing 5-0 at the time. The Dodgers lost to Colorado 8-3. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said after the game that the line drive hit Ohtani on the thigh and managed to avoid his knee and any on-bone contact. The earned runs that Ohtani allowed matched the most he had permitted since July 2022, and the nine hits allowed matched a career high. Ohtani stayed in the game and drew a walk in his at-bat in the fifth inning, but did not bat in the eighth. He was replaced by Alex Call, who struck out. Ohtani was making his 10th start of the season after not pitching in the 2024 season while recovering from elbow surgery. He entered Wednesday without a decision and a 3.47 ERA. This season, he hasn't thrown more than 4 ⅓ innings or 80 pitches. Against the MLB-worst Rockies, he threw 66 pitches, 49 for strikes. Ohtani is batting .284 with 44 homers, one behind NL-leading Kyle Schwarber of the Phillies, with 83 RBIs. ___

Busch hits a 3-run double off Misiorowski as Cubs beat Brewers
Michael Busch hit a three-run double off Jacob Misiorowski, and the Chicago Cubs beat the Milwaukee Brewers 4-3 on Wednesday night for their third consecutive victory over the NL Central leaders. Matt Shaw added a solo homer as Chicago won for the fifth time in six games. Colin Rea (10-5) pitched three-hit ball into the sixth inning. The Cubs improved to 7-5 against the Brewers this year, clinching the season series. They trail Milwaukee by six games going into the series finale on Thursday. Brice Turang had three hits for Milwaukee, and Christian Yelich scored two runs. Misiorowski (4-2) was charged with three runs in four innings. Brewers shortstop Joey Ortiz went 0 for 3 a day after he left the second game of a doubleheader with a bruised knee. Turang's RBI single trimmed Chicago's lead to 3-2 in the sixth. But Shaw led off the eighth with a 390-foot homer to left-center off Jared Koenig. Brad Keller pitched a perfect eighth for the Cubs, and Daniel Palencia worked a rocky ninth for his 18th save in 20 chances. Danny Jansen drove in Turang with a pinch-hit single, and the Brewers loaded the bases with two down. But William Contreras lined to second for the final out. The Cubs played without Kyle Tucker for the second straight day. The All-Star outfielder is getting time off to help him break out of a slump, but he could return to the lineup as soon as Thursday. Misiorowski retired his first six batters before running into trouble in the third. The All-Star right-hander walked his first three batters of the inning, including Matt Shaw on the 11th pitch of an at-bat that included seven foul balls. Busch then drove a 3-1 fastball into the gap in left-center, clearing the bases and giving the Cubs a 3-1 lead. Palencia celebrated in front of the mound after Nico Hoerner snared Contreras' game-ending liner. The Brewers have dropped three straight for the first time since May 7-10. Right-hander Quinn Priester (11-2, 3.48 ERA) starts for Milwaukee on Thursday, and left-hander Shota Imanaga (8-5, 3.06) pitches for Chicago.

Knicks could pursue Bucks megastar at trade deadline
The New York Knicks have had an active offseason, but without making a massive blockbuster trade as opposed to last season. So far, they have taken a more conservative approach when it comes to adding players, with Jordan Clarkson and Guerschon Yabusele being their only free agent signings. Knicks could acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo at the trade deadline Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo has been at the forefront of trade talks throughout the offseason, but as of now, the two-time MVP has not formally requested a trade out of Milwaukee. It is increasingly likely that he will at least begin the 2025-26 season with the franchise he has spent his whole career with. However, depending on how the Bucks are performing, he could be suiting up somewhere else by the trade deadline. Bleacher Report's Grant Hughes believes Antetokounmpo could become available around the trade deadline next season. 'Barring a shocking over-performance, a roster led by Antetokounmpo and recently acquired center Myles Turner should keep the Bucks in the mushy middle of the East playoff race without any real shot at being better than that. For Giannis, a two-time MVP with a ring, that's just not good enough,' Hughes wrote. The Bucks have completely retooled their roster this summer after a disappointing first-round exit in last season's playoffs. They waived Damian Lillard following an Achilles tear, and they replaced him by signing free agent center Myles Turner. The Knicks would push the hardest for Antetokounmpo Antetokounmpo's future with the team had already been up in smoke, and now it is even more murky. The Knicks would be the team to pounce on the opportunity should he become available, as they are already well-positioned to win a title within the next few years. Pairing Antetokounmpo with Jalen Brunson could form the best duo in the entire league, but acquiring a two-time MVP still in his prime will cost a lot. It could spell the end of Karl-Anthony Towns' time as a Knick, along with Mikal Bridges or OG Anunoby. New York may not want to blow the team up midseason, but only time will tell if a trade for the Bucks superstar will ever come to fruition. All eyes will be on him until he has a firm destination, and the Knicks will certainly be one of the teams pushing the hardest for him.
