'70s Rocker Breaks Silence After Opening Act Suffers Cardiac Arrest Mid-Concert
spoke out during his headlining performance at Liverpool's On The Waterfront music festival on Sunday night after a member of one of the preceding bands suffered a sudden cardiac arrest during the middle of their performance.
Lionel Duke, drummer for local band The Christians, was transported to the hospital after collapsing early on in the band's set, leading frontman Garry Christian to call for medics to rush to his aid, according to multiple reports.
A privacy screen was installed around Duke and his rescuers, with a notice put up on the festival's screens reading, 'We appreciate your patience and understanding. Medical staff are with the performer, and we will provide an update as soon as we can,' according to a photo shared by the Mirror. The crowd reportedly remained silent as responders worked to save his life.
Eventually, a spokesperson addressed the audience, according to the publication, confirming to fans that, while Duke had suffered a cardiac arrest, his heart started beating again thanks to the quick intervention. "We're really hoping he is going to make it,' she said. 'He didn't have a pulse, he's got one now, we think. Thank you so much.'
Duke's bandmates are said to have encouraged Sting to go on with his performance, and when the Police frontman finally started his set, he offered another update for the audience as he sent positive thoughts the musician's way: 'The drummer in the band before is OK. He's in hospital. All of us are praying he's going to be fine. Our thoughts are with him.'
As of writing, there have been no further updates about the drummer's condition. His band took to Facebook shortly after the show, sharing that they were "awaiting news from the Heart and Chest hospital at Broad Green" and sending their thanks to "the phenomenal team of medics present from On The Waterfront Liverpool team who stepped in so swiftly to help our poor Lionel."
On Monday, June 23, they followed up to thank Sting "for his concern and beautiful tribute to Lionel," but have yet to share more information about their bandmate's status.'70s Rocker Breaks Silence After Opening Act Suffers Cardiac Arrest Mid-Concert first appeared on Parade on Jun 23, 2025

Sylvester Stallone Hands Over Iconic Rambo Role to 29-Year-Old Up-and-Coming Actor
Sylvester Stallone Hands Over Iconic Rambo Role to 29-Year-Old Up-and-Coming Actor originally appeared on Parade. To this very day, Sylvester Stallone remains permanently tied to two characters above all others: the relatable underdog boxer Rocky Balboa and the traumatized Vietnam War veteran, John Rambo. Arguably two of the most iconic characters in American cinema, Stallone has routinely reprised each respective role over the past 40 years. Now, it seems that the 79-year-old Tulsa King star is finally ready to hand over the trademark archery bow of his legendary First Blood character to to 29-year-old actor, Noah Centineo. According to various media outlets, Centineo has officially been cast as a younger iteration of Stallone's action hero for the upcoming prequel, John Rambo. A project currently in active development, the new film will focus on Rambo's early years in the Vietnam War, specifically depicting his grueling service in a Green Beret Special Forces unit. The film will be directed by Rare Exports filmmaker Jalmari Helander, with a script provided by Black Adam scribes Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani. The new film will serve as the sixth addition to the long-running Rambo series since the series began in 1982. Previously, Stallone reprised his role as the titular hero throughout the franchise, last appearing as the character in 2019's Rambo: Last Blood. In terms of Centineo's career, the young actor first received his start in the entertainment industry as a Disney Channel star, playing a featured role on Austin & Ally from 2011 to 2012. Following this, Centineo managed to land a starring role on Freeform's family drama, The Fosters, taking over the role of Jesus Adams Foster following original actor Jake T. Austin's departure from the series after its second season. More famously, Centineo remains more readily known for his appearances in Netflix's popular romantic comedy franchise, To All the Boys, reprising his main role in the series a total of three times from 2018 to 2021. Billy Joel Sounds Like 'Bob Dylan if He Had a Cartoon Show' in Hilarious Resurfaced Interview
Billy Joel Sounds Like 'Bob Dylan if He Had a Cartoon Show' in Hilarious Resurfaced Interview originally appeared on Parade. While Billy Joel is unquestionably one of the most successful and beloved musicians of all time, that doesn't mean he hasn't looked to other iconic rock stars for advice from time to time throughout the course of his when he revealed the helpful advice Bob Dylan once gave him, it ended up being one of the funniest moments in late night history. During a recently resurfaced 1997 appearance on Late Night With David Letterman, Joel opened up about what happened when he met Dylan backstage at a performance in Milan, Italy. As Joel explained, he took the opportunity to ask Dylan a very important question. "I said, 'How do you do it, Bob? How do you remember all these words?'' Joel recalled, before going into a Dylan impression to share his response, adding, ''Oh, that's easy. Just go over in the dressing room and take a look on the coffee table.'' "You sound like Bob Dylan if he had a cartoon show," Letterman quipped, laughing at Joel's attempt at a Dylan voice. 'So, I look over on the coffee table, and there is a store-bought book, Bob Dylan's The Songs of Bob Dylan," Joel continued. "He's got them all right there," he added. "He's got this big book on the coffee table. And I say, 'Well, okay, but how do you read the lyrics on-stage?' He goes, 'Well, I really can't read them. I just feel good knowing they're there.' It's like a security blanket. And I've actually started doing it. I put a little book of lyrics on the piano. Of course, you can't dive into them in the middle of a song. But it just makes you feel a little bit better. There they are.' That's not the only time Joel gave fans a laugh with behind-the-scenes story about Dylan, either. During an interview with Howard Stern, Joel remembered what it was like recording "We Are the World" with Dylan in 1985, per I Love Classic Rock, explaining that Dylan was hesitant about singing his part until Stevie Wonder stepped in to help with his vocals. 'Stevie Wonder teaching Bob Dylan to sing like Bob Dylan was a moment," Joel said at the Joel Sounds Like 'Bob Dylan if He Had a Cartoon Show' in Hilarious Resurfaced Interview first appeared on Parade on Aug 12, 2025 This story was originally reported by Parade on Aug 12, 2025, where it first appeared.
