Josie Green column: Wales still have belief at Euro 2025
Our first game at the European Championship is in the books and obviously we are all disappointed to have lost against the Netherlands.I don't think I will be able to fully process the emotional side of what it means to represent Wales at a major tournament until after it has finished = it was a real goosebumps moment.I think the key for us now is obviously focusing on the results, having played that first game and gone through everything, the emotions and the pride, because a lot of us have never experienced an atmosphere like that. I think it will really help us to have got that under our belts.Playing against a quality side like the Netherlands was an invaluable experience for us and despite the defeat, I do think there were positives we can take from the game.
France another tough test
All our attention is now on the France game. It is no surprise to us that we are going to be playing in a really difficult game because our group is really, really tough. We know we are in the deep end at this tournament, but we have better depth than we have ever had and we know that no-one is going to work any harder than us.Everyone here is so important and so valuable to us and we trust every single person in this group and we're adaptable as a team.I think you have to be adaptable in tournament football and it's going to be key for us moving forward - we're always a team that finishes strongly in games. The key for us is staying in the game as long as we can. We've reviewed the Dutch game, we have learnt lessons, and hopefully moving on into the next match, we know that we can frustrate teams. That's something that's in our DNA and that we've done consistently throughout the Nations League, in tough games against Sweden, Denmark and Italy - three teams who are also at this tournament. One huge bonus for us ahead of the France match is the fact that Ceri Holland is fit to play. When she went down I think probably a lot of people feared the worst, but thankfully she's OK.Ceri's a brilliant footballer and her work-rate for the team is off the charts. It was a huge relief when we saw her get up and we knew it was just cramp. We really lucky to have a healthy squad at the moment and touch wood, that will continue throughout our time in Switzerland.People outside will write us off, we know that, but the belief within our group remains as strong as ever.
Grateful to our friends, families and amazing fans
I caught up with my family after the game and on Sunday the Football Association of Wales organised a day for the squad to spend time with our friends and family. It is lovely to experience everything with them. I think they were also blown away by the occasion - it just means so much to us all. It was lovely for them as it was for us.I feel overwhelmed with gratitude towards our supporters, both those who have turned up to support us here in Switzerland and everyone back home. All we want to do is put football in a better place for people in Wales and feeling their love and support is really spurring us on as a team and as a group and is a massive motivation for us.We will have so many memories from the occasion of the opening game, the way our supporters sang to us before we had even left the hotel, their march to the stadium and then the incredible noise, the anthems, the sea of red behind the goal - it was phenomenal. It was such an incredible, incredible atmosphere in Lucerne, the energy and emotion our fans gave us was amazing. We are all feeling very grateful to be able to put Welsh women's football on the biggest stage. It gives me goosebumps to even try to write about it - it is hard to articulate and put the emotions into words.

Premier League relegation odds: Latest relegation odds Premier League 25/26 season
The 2025/26 Premier League season begins on 15 August, with Liverpool bidding to retain the league after winning a record-equalling 20th top-flight title. And while the battle for the title and European places will hold the headlines until May, the fight for survival in the Premier League is often just as intriguing a battle. As always relegation system will see the three teams that finish bottom of the league – from 20th to 18th – demoted to the Championship for the next season, with Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton going down in 2024/25. Of course, established sides are less likely to be relegated these days due to the financial power of the top flight, with the play-off winner more often than not the favourite to be relegated due to not finishing in the tiop tow of the Championship in the preceding season. And recent trends show that overall, promoted teams are far more likely to go straight back down. In fact, the three promoted teams went straight back down win both of the last two seasons in a row. Premier League Relegation Odds Find the latest Premier League relegation odds here. As usual, ahead of the 2025/26 season it's the three promoted teams who are predicted to be relegated from the Premier League. Leeds United, Burnley and Sunderland will start the season as favourites for relegation mainly because they spent last season in the Championship, and the gap to the top-flight teams having never been more pronounced, it has become increasingly difficult for promoted teams to stay up – as evidenced by the fact that in the past two seasons, all three teams that were promoted went straight back down. Nevertheless, many previous seasons have seen established Premier League teams relegated, including Aston Villa and Newcastle in 2016. Tottenham's 17th place finish last season was a shock to the system, but could they or any other team fall further into the division's bottom three? Several sides who did well last season have seen their squads decimated by players leaving for pastures new. With Brentford and Bournemouth losing at least four first-team players each during the summer transfer window, could we see a surprise relegation in 2026? Barcelona complete signing of 'Swedish Messi' Roony Bardghji as Copenhagen teenager, 19, signs long-term deal
Barcelona have completed the signing of young Copenhagen star Roony Bardghji for £1.75million (€2m). The 19-year-old, dubbed the 'Swedish Messi ', has joined the Spanish giants on a four-year deal. Copenhagen will receive a sell-on fee while there are also a number of performance-related add ons. The winger will take part in Hansi Flick's pre-season tour of Asia later this month, before a decision is made on whether he will stick with the first team, go out on loan, or join Barcelona's youth sides. After announcing his signing, Barcelona described the youngster as 'a great prospect for the future, while praising his 'skill, speed, and goalscoring ability'. Bardghji's contract with Copenhagen was set to expire in December, allowing Barcelona to complete a cut-price deal. Born in Kuwait to Syrian parents, Bardghji has Swedish nationality and has represented their Under-21 side on ten occasions. After moving to Sweden, he played for a number of youth sides, including in Malmo's academy. He later moved to Copenhagen's academy in 2020 and was handed his senior debut at a mere 16 years and six days in November 2021, becoming the club's youngest ever player. A week later he lashed in a 25-yard shot into the bottom corner against Aalborg, to become the youngest scorer in Danish top-flight history. Promoted to Copenhagen's first team in 2022, the winger scored 15 goals in 84 games, winning three Danish league titles and two Danish cups. Bardghji's stock rose further after he scored the winner against Manchester United in the Champions League, aged just 17. However, he has seen his progress hampered by a serious ACL injury, spending 10 months on the sidelines. The Swede returned in March this year, making six league appearances before the end of the season. Roony's winner ⚽️ #UCL — UEFA Champions League (@ChampionsLeague) November 10, 2023 The young star is not short of confidence and last year told The Athletic he wished to 'become the best player in the world'. Meanwhile, in November 2023, after Sweden coach Janne Andersson said that Roony had 'a lot to prove at the highest level to take the final step', he replied by saying: 'How much more do you have to do as a 17-year-old to get a place?' Chelsea, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Ajax had also previously sent scouts to Copenhagen to watch the youngster.
