Josie Green column: We want to show the world what Wales is all about
In her latest BBC Sport column at Euro 2025, Josie Green discusses Wales' improved performance in defeat to France, that bus journey, the challenge of facing reigning champions England and reflects on Wales' unsung hero and superstar. We are close to our third and final group game at our first major tournament, Euro 2025 and it is safe to that none of our squad are ready for our tournament to always knew we had an extremely difficult group, playing three of the best sides in the world and we want to continue to show the world who we are when we face England in St Gallen.I think we have definitely grown into the tournament and we were a lot happier with our performance against France – albeit it was not the result we wanted – than we were with our opening performance against the Netherlands.I think, understandably in the first game there was an element of the nerves and the emotion of the occasion playing a part. It was a historic game for you can see us growing in the tournament and I think in the France game we showed what we are capable of doing, it was just those small margins and small moments that cost us, but I was super proud of what we did in that game. Every detail has been spot-on in Switzerland Obviously, our preparation for that match was definitely unusual with our bus being involved in an incident on the way to our training session the day before the game. I think all of our players took it in their stride and it shows the adaptability and the togetherness of this group to pull was very unusual obviously, but I think the way the Football Association of Wales handled it epitomised how spot-on our staff have been on this were so adaptable to ensure we could get on the training pitch at our base in Weinfelden even though it was a last-minute change of plan. But since we got here, everything has been really first rate and the level to detail has been put in so much effort and gone above and beyond to make us have a level playing field at this tournament and it nice to be able to give them all a training base, which has been built up from scratch, is superb and the detail in our hotel has been amazing. We have also had some great social media content in the build-up to your games, our fans have come out in force and that's partly due to our media been incredible the amount of work everyone's put is a beautiful country and it's been great to explore when we've had some downtime and because it's quite an expensive place, it just makes us even more grateful to the fans who have come out. We know it's a lot of money to some people and that just makes us appreciate the amazing support we have had even more. Attention turns to England All of our attention is now obviously on the England game and we are excited to have another opportunity to go out there on the world stage and show what Wales can are expecting a brilliant atmosphere and I am excited to feel that energy from our amazing fans that have been with us throughout the tournament so are looking forward to it, but we're just going to focus on ourselves. We want to get better game by game and that's what we're going to do for this final course, we want to win the game, you want to go out for every football game and aim to win and it's going to be no different for us, but I think first and foremost, we want to build on that last performance and take that into the next game. If we do that, anything can the same time, I think, you know, you've got to be mindful of where we are as a women's team. I think if you look at England and how many games they have played compared to how many games our national team has played, it's a pretty big there is always going to be that rivalry and we've got that Welsh spirit and that Welsh pride that we're definitely going to bring into the game, we are really looking forward to experiences we have had in our first major tournament will hopefully stand us in good stead going forward, I think it is going to be got such a mix in this team of youth and experience. So it's invaluable for every single member of this squad to experience something like this want to be able to pass it on to the younger girls coming through, that major tournament experience and feeling. I truly believe this isn't going to be a one-qualification wonder. I really do believe that this is going to be like a catalyst for the next generation of young Welsh talent. I think it's a pivotal moment for Welsh women's football. Our unsung hero and our superstar I will end by quickly mentioning a couple of players who have had a big part to play here in Switzerland for I will start with my fellow defender Esther plays with an intelligence far beyond her years, it is hard to believe she is only got an extremely high football intelligence and IQ and she's had a stormer of a tournament for injuries Esther has dealt with have been awful, she's overcome that adversity and to put in the quality performances like she has, it's such a credit to so nice to see that she's been able to get herself fit and back for this tournament, it's been who else could possibly have scored our first major tournament goal than Jess Fishlock?it was always going to be written in the stars and I'm just so happy for her.I don't think we can emphasise enough what she has given this team, the dedication she has shown for 19 years.I saw before the tournament that Jess said that the struggle to help get Wales to a major-finals has taken part of her her to score that goal for the team, it was an absolute career highlight for us I'm just so proud and happy for her. The whole of Wales is proud and happy for her.

Josie Green column: Wales still have belief at Euro 2025
In her latest BBC Sport column at Euro 2025, Josie Green discusses Wales' first major tournament match against the Netherlands and looks forward to their contest against France in St Gallen as Rhian Wilkinson's side aim to stay in the competition. Our first game at the European Championship is in the books and obviously we are all disappointed to have lost against the Netherlands.I don't think I will be able to fully process the emotional side of what it means to represent Wales at a major tournament until after it has finished = it was a real goosebumps moment.I think the key for us now is obviously focusing on the results, having played that first game and gone through everything, the emotions and the pride, because a lot of us have never experienced an atmosphere like that. I think it will really help us to have got that under our against a quality side like the Netherlands was an invaluable experience for us and despite the defeat, I do think there were positives we can take from the game. France another tough test All our attention is now on the France game. It is no surprise to us that we are going to be playing in a really difficult game because our group is really, really know we are in the deep end at this tournament, but we have better depth than we have ever had and we know that no-one is going to work any harder than here is so important and so valuable to us and we trust every single person in this group and we're adaptable as a team.I think you have to be adaptable in tournament football and it's going to be key for us moving forward - we're always a team that finishes strongly in key for us is staying in the game as long as we reviewed the Dutch game, we have learnt lessons, and hopefully moving on into the next match, we know that we can frustrate something that's in our DNA and that we've done consistently throughout the Nations League, in tough games against Sweden, Denmark and Italy - three teams who are also at this huge bonus for us ahead of the France match is the fact that Ceri Holland is fit to she went down I think probably a lot of people feared the worst, but thankfully she's a brilliant footballer and her work-rate for the team is off the was a huge relief when we saw her get up and we knew it was just cramp. We really lucky to have a healthy squad at the moment and touch wood, that will continue throughout our time in outside will write us off, we know that, but the belief within our group remains as strong as ever. Grateful to our friends, families and amazing fans I caught up with my family after the game and on Sunday the Football Association of Wales organised a day for the squad to spend time with our friends and is lovely to experience everything with them. I think they were also blown away by the occasion - it just means so much to us all. It was lovely for them as it was for us.I feel overwhelmed with gratitude towards our supporters, both those who have turned up to support us here in Switzerland and everyone back we want to do is put football in a better place for people in Wales and feeling their love and support is really spurring us on as a team and as a group and is a massive motivation for will have so many memories from the occasion of the opening game, the way our supporters sang to us before we had even left the hotel, their march to the stadium and then the incredible noise, the anthems, the sea of red behind the goal - it was was such an incredible, incredible atmosphere in Lucerne, the energy and emotion our fans gave us was are all feeling very grateful to be able to put Welsh women's football on the biggest stage. It gives me goosebumps to even try to write about it - it is hard to articulate and put the emotions into words.

Josie Green column: Pride, belief and excitement as Wales await Euro debut
In her first BBC Sport column, Wales and Crystal Palace defender Josie Green lifts the lid on life in the Wales camp in Switzerland ahead of their first match at Euro 2025 against the Netherlands on Saturday. We are super excited now. We have had moments in the past week of thinking "we are in Switzerland and the tournament is right around the corner now".I think when we qualified in December, six months felt like a long way away, but the time has gone in a flash. Now we are really feeling excited and we are raring to go for that first game in Lucerne against Nations League A was a perfect preparation from our point of view for this tournament, we played some top-quality teams and being in League A means every minute is reflected on what went well, what we can improve on and have taken really valuable lessons going into this European didn't click for us in our last game, against Italy, but I think you learn a lot from the days when things don't go well for team has days when they aren't at their best. I think if we didn't have that game we might not be as strong and focused a unit as we are wants to have a result like that, but I think we've utilised it in the most positive way that we feel like we built some really strong foundations as a group of players in the past months since our qualification in Dublin, our manager Rhian Wilkinson has been drip-feeding information on every single camp and a lot of us have had a lot of minutes under her as well.I do feel that bodes particularly well for us as a squad coming up to the Euros, you see lots of players getting on the pitch and that is really important for us in terms of our development as a is going to mean so much to will feel immense pride first and foremost to be the first Welsh team in a major tournament, we will feel that not just for us but for those we came before and paved the way for it won't be enough for us just to be here, we want to show our absolute best. Boss Wilkinson's impact Our manager Rhian Wilkinson is one of the key reasons why we are where we are.I have found Rhian absolutely fantastic to work with, I sit in some of her meetings and she delivers the messages and I think "wow, that is such an impassioned and empowered speech".I always think that she leaves me with little snippets I can take what you want as a player, a coach that inspires you, who motivates you and who pushes you on and also makes you feel valued as a member of the group.I've worked under a lot of different managers and I know it is not an easy job to do, particularly when you're coming in just before the start of a qualifying campaign and you need to hit the ground has had a massive impact in the 15 months she has been our manager, we have a lot of belief in her. A special connection The thing that I believe makes this group special is the bond we have with each other, I know everyone says it, but it is a of that, a lot of our thoughts are with the players who couldn't be here because of injury, namely our goalkeeper Laura O'Sullivan and defender Mayzee Davies, who are both missing out on the tournament after undergoing knee are missing them and it is very unfortunate they couldn't make the flip side to that, what a boost for us to have Sophie Ingle back in the squad with us because she's a great person to have the pitch she brings her leadership qualities. The other day in the heat she was the one pushing for our training session to carry on, because she is the ultimate are super excited to have her in the group. It's so important for us.I know we are all very excited to see the Red Wall on Saturday and we will have family coming out to watch us.I have my mum, brother, sister and their families coming out and also my partner Marcus and his family, so I've got quite a few coming out. It will be great to see them. Switzerland has been very welcoming to us and certainly we have enjoyed our time here so far. Obviously there is not a lot we can do about the weather, but 'hot' is definitely a word we have been using a was great on Tuesday for us to get to see some of the amazing scenery in the country when we took a cable car up the Hoher Kasten mountain in the Swiss was a really nice moment to reflect and see some of the country, stay present and reflect on being in the has used a few mountain metaphors in this campaign so it was nice for us to scale another height after Yr Wyddfa. What will be our next mountain experience? I am looking forward to finding out.

Janni Tomsen fires in a dangerous low cross from the right, and Pernille Harder looks sure to score from close range, but Josie Green does superbly to get in the way and deflect the ball from a corner. Green stopped a certain goal there. Update: Date: 18:58 BST Title: Post Content: Denmark 0-0 Wales Mark PoyserBBC Radio Wales football commentator Wales are getting closer to a scalp against a top nation. The last hurdle, to score a decisive chance, is the one that is proving the most difficult at the moment. Denmark, who had it all their own way in the opening 15 minutes, have certainly been given something to think about. Update: Date: 41 mins Title: Post Content: Denmark 0-0 Wales Wales are happy to take their time whenever they have a goal-kick or throw-in.
