Zareen Khan revisits her fangirl moment with Katrina Kaif from Race premiere.
Zareen Khan, often noted for her resemblance to Katrina Kaif, has fond memories from her days as a starstruck fan. Though she later debuted opposite Salman Khan in Veer, her journey began with watching her idol up close.
She recently shared a nostalgic video from the Race premiere—long before she entered films—where a radiant young Zareen can be seen asking Katrina for an autograph. Alongside the clip, she shared, 'Oh my Goddd! Came across this video, and the memory is still so fresh. I clearly remember this moment … it's from the premiere of the movie Race. Thanks to a friend who got us passes, we were able to experience the magic firsthand. At that point, I was just a wide‑eyed fan, never imagining I'd one day be a part of the film industry."
She continued in the post, 'But look at how happy I am in this video, a total fangirl … grinning from ear to ear, getting an autograph from the woman I thought was and is breathtakingly beautiful! #BlastFromThePast #Nostalgia #ZareenKhan."
The video, which Zareen Khan shared as a sweet throwback, has now taken a surprising turn online—with netizens dissecting every second of Katrina Kaif's reaction. What was meant to be a wholesome fangirl moment is now going viral for all the wrong reasons. Many viewers believe Katrina's expression shifted the moment she spotted Zareen, with some even claiming she looked anything but thrilled. While Zareen beamed with excitement, Katrina appeared distant, avoiding eye contact and barely reacting.
Speculation in the comments section is also running wild. Fans are wondering if Katrina already knew Salman Khan was planning to launch Zareen—who, at the time, was being called her doppelganger—in Veer.
Zareen Khan began her Bollywood journey with Veer, where her resemblance to Katrina Kaif quickly became a talking point. Often labelled as Katrina's lookalike, Zareen found herself typecast early on. While the comparisons initially drew attention, they gradually became a hurdle in her career. Many within the film industry hesitated to cast her, viewing her more as a reflection of someone else rather than a distinct performer. This perception limited her opportunities and overshadowed her efforts to establish her own identity. Over time, as the lookalike tag faded, Zareen was finally able to step out of the shadow and be recognised on her own merit.

Indian Gen Zs Are Throwing Fake Weddings For Fun, Here's All About This OTT Party Trend

Last Updated: The Gen Z has moved away from the done and overdone cliche club nights. The hottest party trend they have started instead is a fake wedding party. Forget club nights and sundowner parties – the Gen Z in India has a knack for doing 'hatke' things, and this latest party trend is yet another proof. Gen Z has found a new way to party, and it's as extra as it is oddly wholesome. Welcome to the era of fake weddings. It's the newest trend where groups of friends throw a full-blown shaadi celebration, minus the actual bride and groom. What started as a quirky trend abroad has now found its glittering Indian avatar. Think: mandap setups, baraat-style entries, choreographed sangeet performances, wedding invites, a fake pandit, and yes, even a dhol wala for dramatic effect. At the heart of it is a simple idea: everyone loves the joy of Indian weddings, so why wait for someone to get married? A Wedding Without the Drama For Gen Z, who grew up watching grand Bollywood weddings and endless shaadi reels on Instagram, the fake wedding trend offers a chance to celebrate without the stress, family politics, or actual lifelong commitment. The idea is to dress up in your lehengas and sherwanis, dance your heart out, toast to love, and party like it's your own wedding (just without the future in-laws). What Is The Vibe? Fake weddings are over-the-top, deeply ironic, and designed for the 'Gram. You'll spot hashtags like #NotActuallyMarried and #ShaadiForTheVibe under Reels showing everything from haldi moments in Airbnb gardens to full buffet spreads featuring chaat counters and mocktails. What started as a fun party trend among Gen Z has now found many takers. Event management companies and even bars are hosting fake wedding parties with paid entry and food. In a world where traditional milestones are being delayed or redefined, this trend gives young people a way to embrace celebration on their own terms. It's campy, chaotic, and community-driven: exactly what Gen Z does best. So, if you see someone in a sherwani doing bhangra at a farmhouse on the outskirts of your city or in a bar with no actual bride in sight, don't be confused. It's probably just another Saturday night in Gen Z style. First Published: July 06, 2025, 17:50 IST

Exclusive - Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai actor Rohit Purohit performs on hit Shah Rukh Khan songs; says 'I ensured that I add my own style and not copy SRK'

Rohit Purohit, who is currently essaying the role of Armaan in Rajan Shahi's popular and long-running television show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, recently had the chance to shoot a special dance sequence to the iconic romantic track "Janam Dekh Lo" from the hit film Veer-Zaara, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta. This opportunity was both exciting and emotionally significant for Rohit, who has always admired Shah Rukh Khan, especially for his timeless romantic roles. Sharing his thoughts on performing the song, Rohit said, "I love Shah Rukh Khan and his films. When I came to know that I have to perform the romantic song of Shah Rukh Khan with Abhira (played by Samridhi Shukla), I was excited. I ensured that I add my own style and not copy SRK." He emphasized that while the influence of SRK is undeniable and inspiring, it was important for him to bring a unique flavor to the performance rather than imitate. He consciously worked on presenting the emotion of the song in his own way, staying true to his character Armaan and the context of the storyline. Rohit has been an admirer of Shah Rukh Khan since his early days and has a special fondness for films like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Veer-Zaara, and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, all of which featured unforgettable romantic tracks that are still cherished today. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 2025 Top Trending local enterprise accounting software [Click Here] Esseps Learn More Undo His admiration for SRK's charm and intensity is clear, yet Rohit's professionalism ensured that he channeled the emotion with individuality rather than replication. He further praised the vision of producer Rajan Shahi, who, according to Rohit, crafts stories that are both emotionally relatable and visually grand. "Rajan Shahi is one producer who ensures the story is relatable, and the grandeur of the show is so fantastic that we actors are really inspired to give our best," he said. Rohit also hinted that the upcoming track in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai will be full of twists and turns, keeping viewers emotionally hooked and entertained. With the perfect mix of romance, drama, and music, and a strong creative team backing it, the show continues to remain a fan-favorite. Movie promotions, fan theories and communities now have a new home: Reddit

Along with tried and tested models of engagement on Instagram, X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook, besides regular media interactions, print and television advertising, movie promotions, and marketing are now finding a new home in news aggregation and social media forum Reddit. Besides official marketing by studios and producers, the platform also hosts movie reviews, fan activity and audience reactions by movie buffs, digital creators and influencers who are slowly building communities with like-minded entertainment enthusiasts. However, industry experts point out that, unlike other platforms that prioritise algorithms or follower counts, every post and comment on Reddit that speaks to hyper-targeted communities is subject to upvotes or downvotes from real users—meaning content must earn its place at the top. While the service does offer brands the opportunity to promote their presence on Reddit, including AMAs (ask me anything), through paid efforts, the smart way is to work with community moderators or run promoted posts that blend in, in order to feel native. Some brands do this well while others get called out. Read more: 'Trash TV' takes off as audiences crave a peek into celebrity lives 'Reddit stands apart in the entertainment and pop culture landscape by fostering authentic human conversations. It enables open, in-depth dialogue across over 100,000 active communities. Many of these communities are deeply immersed in films, OTT content, web series, celebrity culture, and digital storytelling," the platform said in response to Mint's queries. Entertainment is a key driver of engagement on Reddit, and one of the top topics on the platform in India so far this year, it added. Communities such as those on movies, television, Bollywood, and Tollywood have become hubs for trendspotting, fan theories, detailed reviews, and real-time audience reactions that often influence broader conversations in the entertainment industry. Meaningful partnerships To be sure, Reddit has a local team focused on developing entertainment partnerships to offer enhanced community experiences to redditors. Through these partnerships, studios like Zee Studios have brought key talent to Reddit to do AMAs ('Ask Me Anything" sessions, which are online Q&As) about their projects in Indian communities. However, the platform is designed more to foster unfiltered conversations and build communities dedicated to specific interests, ranging from niche genres to new releases. 'We're seeing more film and OTT teams tap into Reddit not just to market, but to listen. AMAs with actors, dropping clues for fans to uncover, even just letting fan theories grow on their own, it's all part of how shows build hype now," said Jagdish Lobo – associate vice-president at QYUKI, a new media company that provides digital distribution and content production services for artists. Global hits like Stranger Things and The Boys have done this brilliantly. 'Even if the studio isn't directly involved, the fan communities do half the job. In India, we're still early in this space, but it's picking up," Lobo added. Entertainment industry experts point out unlike other platforms, Reddit isn't about the most polished video or the biggest follower count. It rewards the most interesting conversation. That's a huge advantage for storytellers. They can test ideas, sense how people feel about characters or twists, and get real feedback, not just likes. 'Reddit is where the internet goes to think out loud. Studios have clocked this and are quietly slipping into subreddits to seed conversations, float theories, leak just enough to spark curiosity—and then let Reddit do what it does best: spiral. Very rarely does this happen through official handles. Most of it unfolds through burner accounts, soft alliances with community moderators, or well-timed posts that feel fan-driven," said Krunal Kanabar, head-strategy and IP, NOFILTR Group, an influencer marketing agency. Community engagement This has played out globally with titles like Everything Everywhere All At Once, and closer home with shows like Scam 1992, where Reddit didn't launch the hype but definitely helped cultify it, Kanabar said. To be sure, the company claims each subreddit operates under its own set of rules and is managed by independent volunteer moderators. These communities are highly engaged and self-regulating, and in many cases, users are quick to identify and question posts that appear to be speculative, agenda-driven, or lacking credibility. Read more: Regional content gains ground on OTTs even as Hindi dominates Yash Chandiramani, founder and chief strategist, Admatazz, a digital marketing agency, said, unlike traditional platforms, Reddit thrives on deep engagement, subculture awareness and long-form discussion. This means it has the users' attention. So any show or movie with a fan following, fan theories, and speculation works well on Reddit and movie marketers have started subtly seeding content as well. 'Reddit's strength lies in its super hyper-targeted, deep communities. Instead of shouting at a mass audience, for example, you can engage horror devotees or Bollywood enthusiasts. The threaded nature of discussions allows fans to dissect every plot twist, create theories, and contribute to shareable moments in real time, sustained engagement that's rarely seen on platforms with vanishing content or short-form formats," Joshua Carvalho, director BC Web Wise, a digital marketing agency, said. 'Reddit's pseudonymous culture encourages a kind of honesty we don't often see elsewhere. When creators show humility and speak candidly in AMAs or comment threads, they earn genuine community advocacy, not the glossy endorsements you'd expect from influencer marketing," Carvalho added.
