Mida Noodt targeting German one-two at T100 Triathlon

The 24-year-old took third in San Francisco, rounding off the medal places behind compatriot Rico Bogen and Jelle Geens.
It was the perfect follow-up to a ninth-place finish at the season opener in Singapore, and success has left the German hungry for more alongside long-time friend and rival Bogen.
'Now I have finished on the podium once, I want to repeat it,' he said. 'The adrenaline and vibes you get from crossing the finish line and being in the podium spots is so valuable. I don't look too much at the overall rankings.
'[Rico and I] have been racing each other for over 10 years, we started in the junior ranks. It is nice to see his progression and the course will suit him so maybe we can make it a one-two.'
Noodt is enjoying his first season as a contracted T100 athlete, having been a wildcard in the inaugural season last year.
There he produced a strong trio of performances, with a best showing of 18th in Singapore, but has now stepped up a level to challenge amidst a very strong field.
The 24-year-old produced the best result of his career in San Francisco, finishing just under four minutes behind ultimate victor Bogen, and he believes there is still more to come from him in Vancouver.
He added: 'I came here directly from San Francisco so I know the course inside out. I am enjoying the city so far and I am feeling really good in training.
'I think the course suits me better than San Francisco. I think I can find one or two per cent extra from San Francisco.
'I take a lot of confidence. When you have a great race, you always recover faster. I have got some decent training in and the confidence is there.'

Dortmund in advanced talks for £40m Chelsea star after Juventus attempted hijack

Borussia Dortmund are in advanced talks to wrap up a permanent transfer deal for Chelsea's Carney Chukwuemeka, according to reports. Chukwuemeka spent time on loan at Dortmund last season and the German club have long been trying to convince Chelsea into allowing the England youth international to join them in a second temporary switch. But the Blues have consistently rejected Dortmund's loan offers and are only willing to offload Chukwuemeka on a permanent basis. It seems a deal is now edging closer with Fabrizio Romano posting on X that Chelsea and Dortmund are finally in 'advanced talks' over a sale. The update comes after the Daily Mail reported that Italian club Juventus had asked Chelsea about Chukwuemeka in an attempt to hijack the move. Metro's weekly football newsletter: In The Mixer. The outlet adds that Chelsea are holding out for £40m to sell the 21-year-old midfielder this summer – or at least a figure close to that asking price. Earlier this month, French journalist Sebastien Vidal claimed that Chukwuemeka was 'set to join' Dortmund in a £22m deal – but it looks like he could be sold for a higher amount closer to Chelsea's valuation. Dortmund are also set to bring in a second Chelsea player, Aaron Anselmino, on a loan deal which does not include a buy option. It's believed that Chelsea told Dortmund that they could only get Anselminoif they signed Chukwuemeka permanently instead of a loan deal. Anselmino has 'already said yes' to joining Dortmund on loan as Chelsea and Dortmund continue negotiations on a final price for Chukwuemeka. It is said that Chukwuemeka 'strongly wants' a move to Dortmund, where he would link up with fellow England youth international Jobe Bellingham. Chukwuemeka has made a total of 32 appearances for Chelsea since he joined the Blues from Aston Villa in a £20m deal two years ago. But he was deemed surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge and now seems destined for a switch to the Westfalenstadion. More Trending Along with Juventus, West Ham and Napoli had also been linked with a move for Chukwuemeka before Dortmund entered advanced talks. Dortmund manager Niko Kovac is a huge fan of Chukwuemeka, who made 17 appearances on loan at the Bundesliga side last season. 'The way he takes the ball and carries it, the way he immediately turns in the direction of play, that is really unique,' Kovac said in February. 'He has very good acceleration and technique. The boy will give us joy, if he stays healthy.' Rangers ‘targeted move for international left-back before signing Jayden Meghoma from Brentford instead'

But according to a report, there was another name in the frame as the Light Blues looked to add to the position. 4 Tymouteusz Puchacz (right) in action against Rangers Credit: The Sun 4 The left-back was on loan at Plymouth last season Credit: PA 4 Rangers signed Jayden Meghoma last weekend Credit: PA 19-year old Meghoma became Rangers' 11th signing of the summer when he joined on a season-long loan from Brentford last weekend. He's a player familiar to Ibrox boss Russell Martin from his time at Southampton. Meghoma was thrust straight into the action from the start against Club Brugge on Tuesday night, assisting Danilo's goal in a chastening 3-1 defeat for the Gers. Left-back has been a position of need for Rangers this summer. Natural right-back Max Aarons began the campaign at left-back but struggled out of position. Captain James Tavernier, another right-back, has also covered there on occasions after coming on as a sub. Jefte bad been brought back into the fold but endured a torrid time against Viktoria Plzen and has now been sold to Palmeiras in a bumper £6.5million deal. Midfielder Bailey Rice started at left-back against Alloa last Saturday and didn't look comfortable either. Rangers do still have another natural left-back on their books in Ridvan Yilmaz. But the Turkey international looks to have no future at Ibrox. Rangers fans should NEVER have walked out on their team despite Brugge battering He lost his No3 shirt to Aarons in the summer and has been completely frozen out under Martin. Yilmaz continues to be heavily linked with a return to Turkey with his former club Besiktas. So while the Gers have already brought Meghoma in, it wouldn't be much of a surprise to see the club look to add further depth. Another left-back has now emerged as a Rangers target. However, the report claims that he was being considered as an ALTERNATIVE option to Meghoma. Polish outlet Meczyki say that the Gers had targeted a potential move for Tymoteusz Puchacz. The 26-year old is currently on the books at German club Holstein Kiel but spent the second half of last season at Plymouth Argyle in the English Championship. Puchacz has been capped 15 times for Poland and previously played against the Gers in Europe for Lech Poznan. But while the report claims he was on Rangers' radar, it looks like it's a transfer that WON'T be happening. It says Puchacz was a 'serious option' for the Light Blues before they instead signed Meghoma. A member of the Polish squad at Euro 2020 and Euro 2024, Puchacz has also previously played for Union Berlin, Trabzonspor and Panathinaikos among others. 4 Puchacz faced Spain in the Euros Credit: Reuters Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page

£60m Chelsea transfer gets huge boost as Liverpool star agrees personal terms

Chelsea are reportedly on the verge of completing their next major summer signing that should see Premier League rivals Liverpool part ways with his replacement Chelsea are reportedly set to get the green light on their move for Xavi Simons after RB Leipzig agreed personal terms with Harvey Elliott. Liverpool prospect Elliott has been linked as the top candidate to succeed Simons, who now looks more likely to move as Leipzig closes in on his replacement. ‌ The Blues have already spent around £260million on new signings this summer, with most of their new recruits based in midfield and attack. However, Chelsea remain keen on a deal for Netherlands forward Simons as Enzo Maresca looks to wrap up some late-summer business. ‌ And Sky Germany have reported that the move could go through after Leipzig face Bayern Munich in their Bundesliga opener on Friday. That's after 22-year-old Elliott, who is reportedly open to leaving Anfield to secure more playing time, is understood to have given the thumbs up on a move to Saxony. ‌ It's believed Leipzig are seeking in the region of £60m in order to part ways with Simons, who is also said to be a target for Manchester City. The Dutchman spent 18 months on loan with the German outfit before they spent a club-record fee, potentially rising to £67m if all bonuses are met. Reports in Germany suggested Simons is keen to leave Leipzig following their failure to qualify for this season's Champions League. Chelsea would be able to satisfy the player's needs in that regard, hoping to advance under Maresca after winning the FIFA Club World Cup. The west Londoners beat Simons' former employers Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup final. And Les Parisiens are set to receive a windfall from any future transfer thanks to the sell-on clause included in his current contract. Elliott's agreement to join the Red Bulls is a key piece in the domino effect that needed to fall to free up Simons. The winger moved to Anfield in 2019 but has struggled to crack the starting XI under both Jurgen Klopp and incumbent Arne Slot. Liverpool are also believed to be keen on the idea of a sale in order to balance their books this summer. The Merseysiders have already spent close to £300m on new signings, but have also sold off around £200m worth of talent. ‌ Offloading Elliott would have another sizeable impact in bringing the club's finances into line. Liverpool will reportedly let their man leave for around £45m. Chelsea misfit Christopher Nkunku has also been linked with an exit this summer, with Leipzig said to be among those interested. And The Guardian reported his old team advanced their efforts after Bayern hit an impasse in their pursuit. A like-for-like swap between Simons and Nkunku could have been the most straightforward option as Chelsea look to land one of their top targets. However, it appears the stage is set for Elliott to join Leipzig instead, which could align the stars ahead of Simons' switch to Stamford Bridge.
