LONDON — Secretary General of the Muslim World League (MWL) and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars Dr. Mohammad Al-Issa met with Speaker of the UK House of Commons Sir Lindsay Hoyle in London.
Their discussions focused mainly on combating hate speech and all forms of discrimination and exclusion that undermine the national spirit, especially when such actions originate from influential legal or institutional entities. They also discussed topics such as the foundations of social cohesion in societies characterized by religious and ethnic diversity, notably mutual respect and the importance of enacting legislation that addresses threats to national unity.
Al-Issa underscored that the vast majority of Muslims in British society demonstrate strong religious and national awareness. He noted that discordant voices—wherever they may arise—are isolated incidents that reflect only the views of individuals and do not represent the values of Islam.
The UK Parliament also hosted a meeting with Sheikh Al-Issa at its London headquarters in which the speaker and several members of Parliament attended. Discussions focused on strengthening integration and harmony among the components of British society, combating extremism and hatred, and highlighting the efforts of the MWL in building bridges between civilizations and promoting mutual understanding among peoples.

Statistics Law strengthens data confidentiality and prevents its misuse

Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — The new Statistics Law, published in Umm Al-Qura newspaper, emphasizes ensuring confidentiality of data and information collected for statistical purposes. It prohibits any entity or individual from accessing or using the data for purposes other than statistical purposes or against its providers. The law clarified that the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) can—after modifying the data to ensure anonymity—make data available for research and study purposes, while prohibiting the disclosure of any confidential information from the part of the authority's employees or collaborators. The law grants the GASTAT the authority to seek assistance from public entities or contract with private entities to conduct surveys. This is with a condition that data protection is ensured and that no individual is permitted to exploit their job or contractual status to obtain information in violation of the provisions of the law. The law also obligates public entities to cooperate with the authority in preparing international statistics, designing standards and guidelines, and exchanging information on best statistical practices.

Prominent religio-political leader's children killed, wife injured in northwestern Pakistan home shooting

PESHAWAR: A shooting at the residence of a prominent religio-political party leader, Mufti Kifayatullah, in Pakistan's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province left his son and daughter dead and his wife critically wounded on Saturday, while he himself sustained serious injuries, according to an official statement. A former provincial lawmaker from Malakand division and district chief of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) party, Kifayatullah was attacked inside his residence in Batkhela, Levies officials said in a statement. 'A shooting incident took place at the house of Mufti Kifayatullah, district chief of JUI-F in Batkhela,' the statement said. 'As a result of the firing, Kifayatullah was seriously injured, his daughter and son were killed, and his wife was also critically wounded.' Authorities said the assailant was the JUI-F politician's own son, who managed to escape after the attack. The bodies and the injured were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital in Batkhela, where doctors later said Kifayatullah's condition was out of danger. The motive behind the shooting was not immediately clear, though the incident appeared to be linked to some domestic dispute. The JUI-F, a major religio-political party with deep roots in northwestern Pakistan, has long exercised influence in the area. However, it struggled in the 2024 general elections, with leaders blaming security threats for their inability to run a full campaign.
