Eamonn Holmes slammed by reality TV star over 'worst interview ever'
US reality TV star Whitney Thore has slammed a past interview with Eamonn Holmes, calling it the 'absolute worst' of her career and vowing never to appear on TV with him again.
The 40-year-old, known for her hit TLC series My Big Fat Fabulous Life, has spent over a decade promoting body positivity and challenging societal standards.
The series, which first aired in 2015 and recently wrapped up its 12th season, showcases Thore's journey as she advocates for self-acceptance while navigating life in the public eye.
In addition to her on-screen work, Thore has collaborated with figures like Tess Holliday and Natalie Hage to fight fat shaming and dismantle harmful stereotypes about body image.
However, early in her career, she encountered a jarring moment that still lingers in her memory.
Reflecting on her 2015 interview with Holmes on Sky News, Thore recalled how the interaction left her feeling judged and dismissed after he openly criticised her lifestyle, suggesting she was setting a bad example and adding, 'Your heart is probably not very good.'
'I haven't done any UK TV shows in about 10 years, but I would gladly go on any and all of them again – except for [any with] Eamonn Holmes,' Thore told the Daily Star.
'He conducted the absolute worst interview of my entire career, but other than that, my experience in the UK has always been so extremely lovely, and I love my time here so much'.
During the controversial interview, Thore addressed Holmes with a pointed observation about societal biases.
'Fat people so often offend others in society,' she said, 'and I find that it's one of the last socially acceptable prejudices.'
The GB News broadcaster responded: 'But what about people concerned about you?
'I mean, there might be people concerned you're gonna keel over and die because maybe your body or your heart won't be able to sustain all the enthusiasm that you have.'
Thore stood her ground, reiterating her point about prejudice. 'I think that concern for health is often a mask to discriminate or be cruel to fat people,' she replied.
'I'd actually like to break some stereotypes about fat people, because at 380 pounds, I'm not naive to the health issues that may come if I stay this weight. But I have no major health problems, and I've never even had high blood pressure.'
However, the broadcaster continued to press the issue, listing potential health risks while she appeared visibly uncomfortable. 'I have to say, I advocate—I am overweight, I'm constantly lampooned for being overweight—but I do speak to you from concern,' he stated.
He added: 'You're doing your ankles no good, your knees no good, your hips no good, your heart probably no good. So I do think there is concern.
Turning to Thore's viral dancing videos, he questioned her motivations. 'But at least you're doing something. Are you doing those moves to reduce your weight, or to say, 'I may be big, but I can still enjoy myself?''
Now Holmes is dealing with his own health challenges, including mobility issues following back surgery. According to reports in the Express, he primarily relies on a wheelchair but can use a walker for short distances.
In January last year, he spoke candidly about living with what he described as an "epidemic of pain" and shared the difficult reality that he may never regain full mobility. Sadly, these health struggles meant he was unable to attend the funeral of his beloved mother, Josie, in November 2023.
At the time, the former This Morning presenter shared: 'It's as if somebody up there is playing with my life.
'In the past year, I've had an operation on my back which went wrong and has confined me to a wheelchair. I've fallen and broken my shoulder. Honestly, you could not make it up.'

Judge dismisses Justin Baldoni's defamation claim against former co-star Blake Lively
A judge in the US has dismissed actor Justin Baldoni's $400m (£295m) defamation lawsuit against his It Ends With Us co-star Blake Lively. Baldoni filed the countersuit against his former co-star, 37, in response to her launching legal action accusing him of sexual harassment against her while filming the 2024 movie. The 41-year-old had accused Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, their publicist, the New York Times, and others of orchestrating a smear campaign to extort him. He accused Lively of trying to "hijack" the movie and then blaming him when her "disastrous" promotional approach prompted an online backlash against her. "It Ends With Us" garnered mixed reviews, but grossed more than $351m (£259m) worldwide, according to reports. In a statement, lawyers representing Lively, Esra Hudson and Mike Gottlieb, said: "Today's opinion is a total victory and a complete vindication for Blake Lively, along with those that Justin Baldoni and the Wayfarer Parties dragged into their retaliatory lawsuit, including Ryan Reynolds, Leslie Sloane and The New York Times. "As we have said from day one, this "$400 million" lawsuit was a sham, and the court saw right through it. "We look forward to the next round, which is seeking attorneys' fees, treble damages and punitive damages against Baldoni, Sarowitz, Nathan, and the other Wayfarer Parties who perpetrated this abusive litigation." Sky News has approached Baldoni's representatives for comment. This breaking news story is being updated and more details will be published shortly. Please refresh the page for the latest version. 17 Unbelievable Celebrity Photos From The '90s
Let's get one thing straight: the '90s were iconic in every way possible. There were no stylists curating looks for Instagram — just raw energy and some questionable fashion choices... Not only is Christina Ricci wearing CAPRIS, but also the fact that they have flames on I'm pretty sure the top she's wearing has a hole in it? From wild red carpet moments to the strangest celeb pairings imaginable, here are 17 of the most random photos of celebrities in the '90s. TLC (at the 1994 AMAs, ofc). Unlike most of the photos on this list, we actually have some context. In an interview with Oprah, the group explained the look was a statement to promote safe sex. I'll give it to them — I went from "huh?" to "that's honestly so cool of them." The Backstreet Boys' 1998 distorted portrait session in London. The fact that someone on their team approved this is insane to me — but also the fact that no one really knows about it? Not that surprising, honestly. Adam Sandler bidding a near-kissy goodbye to a penguin mascot at Planet Hollywood in 1995. I'm not sure what's going on here, but I do know this is typical Adam Sandler energy. Britney Spears making every face at once at MTV'S 1999 Big Help Concert. She was a rising star here, so maybe she was nervous? Sandra the toilet?! There was something about the '90s and random celebrity home photoshoots, and Bullock was clearly game. Shot in her LA home bathroom in 1993, this might just be the most fashionable bathroom break known to society. George Bush and Arnold Schwarzenegger casually tobogganing together in 1991. Am I the only one just now finding out that Schwarzenegger had an entire political career for almost a decade? Who was going to inform me?! Paris Hilton cuddling a Pikachu stuffy at what appears to be a Christmas event in 1999. Between the zebra-print dress, matching bracelets, and the Pokémon crossover, this might be the most '90s thing I've ever seen. The Spice Girls meeting Prince Charles at The Manchester Opera House in 1997. Mel B (Scary Spice) and Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice) both broke royal protocol by planting a kiss on Prince Charles' cheek! Will Smith rocking a sumo suit on the set of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. This was from the episode "Will Steps Out" from 1994, where he sports the weighted suit to sympathize with his Uncle. I feel like there were better ways to show empathy but then again, this was the '90s... Keanu Reeves looking like he's NOT the king of Speed. Hah — get it? Arriving to the Another You premiere in 1991, It's looking like Mr. Reeves is just a bitttt too close to losing his balance. Cameron Diaz rocking a yellow feathered cap with serious Marge Simpson energy in 1996. It's high fashion meets comedy cartoon, and somehow, she's pulling it off. Julie Andrews and the Pink Panther — the crossover we didn't know we needed but absolutely deserve. Ofc, Julie and her husband, director Blake Edwards, were at the Son of the Pink Panther premiere in 1993. But let's be real — we deserved a full-on Julie Andrews starring role (beyond her brief appearances) in AT LEAST one Pink Panther movie. Sandra Bullock and John Travolta creepily peeking out from behind a curtain. Turns out, the two were waiting to be introduced at a press conference in 1996. But honestly, they're just giving a high school theatre kids eagerly waiting to go on stage vibe, and I kind of love it. Verne Troyer, Robert Wagner, and Rob Lowe channeling Dr. Evil at the Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me premiere in 1999. This pose is so iconic, who wouldn't strike one when given the chance? Brooke Shields getting a bittt cozy with Ronald McDonald at the 1992 "Helping Hands" event. America's sweetheart meets America's favourite burger clown? The chemistry is undeniable — McLove is in the air. Kevin Costner, just casually clinging to a street railing in 1990. His outfit is so '90s boyband, I'm shocked to find out that he wasn't in one. Rowan Atkinson getting way too close to a yellow Mini Cooper for Red Nose Day in 1995. If it were anyone else, I'd have more questions. But this is Mr. Bean we're talking about. Truly, the '90s gave us a kind of celebrity culture that will NEVER exist again — one where publicists were seemingly nowhere to be found, and the random moments were still a little bit wholesome. God bless the low camera quality and fearless fashion... Think we missed any random but iconic '90s celeb photos? Let us know in the comments!
