Former England cricketer Moeen Ali heaped praise on India's Mohammed Siraj for his remarkable performance in the recently concluded series against England and said the bowler has made big strides towards being a complete bowler in international cricket.
The England tour marked one of Siraj's finest outings in Test cricket, topping the wicket-charts with 23 wickets and running throughout the series like a warrior for over 185 overs, undeterred, never tired. While the pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah played only three Tests owing to his workload management, it was Siraj who unleashed his magic when pace ace Jasprit Bumrah needed some rest.
'Siraj has been outstanding in the England series. The energy, aggression, and consistency he brings with the ball is world-class. He's matured into a genuine match-winner for India, and it's always a challenge for batsmen facing him,' stated Moeen Ali to ANI, during his recent visit to the London office of leading property developer.
'What impresses me most is his ability to control the ball. He has got a big heart and never backs down – that is what makes him so special. Credit to him for the impact he's making,' added Ali.
Ali has retired from international cricket and is exploring his cricketing abilities in Dubai, where he now resides. With 6,678 runs, eight centuries and 366 wickets in 298 international appearances, Moeen was one of England's biggest match-winners of this generation and recently featured in the World Championship of Legends (WCL) tournament, scoring 43 runs across three innings, but failing to pick up a wicket.

Anyone who watched this series knows that this format still delivers the ultimate drama.' The final day at The Oval saw England fall agonisingly short, with Siraj and Prasidh Krishna ripping through the lower order. Akram admitted he backed India at the start of the day. 'I gave India a 60% chance on Day 5. They just needed that first breakthrough. With Woakes injured and India sensing blood, it was game on. Siraj made it possible.' Akram also praised India's rotation strategy with Jasprit Bumrah, who was rested for the final two Tests of the series to manage his workload. 'It takes a brave team to rest their best bowler. But India had the bench strength, and the plan worked perfectly,' he said. 'With the Asia Cup in 2025 and the T20 World Cup in 2026 coming up, this kind of foresight is essential. Bumrah is vital across formats, and managing him well is key.' Akram was particularly impressed by Shubman Gill's leadership, after the 25-year-old led India in the absence of regular captain Rohit Sharma. 'Gill is confident and composed. Coach Gambhir hails India's performance
ANI New Delhi With India drawing series with a spectacular victory against England in the last Test of the five-match contest, head coach Gautam Gambhir hailed the team's performance, saying that the team 'deserves every bit of it' and it is difficult to 'mention one name' which stands out. The Indian cricket team's new era under coach Gambhir and captain Shubman Gill began on a promising note, as immense fighting spirit, resilience and never-say-die mentality of a new-look Indian squad helped them seal a series draw, beating England by six runs at The Oval in a thriller to level the series 2-2. Speaking to the media following his return to Delhi, Gambhir said he is happy. 'I think boys deserve every bit of it for the way they performed in all five Tests.' Gambhir hailed pacer Siraj, who was the leading wicket-taker with 23 scalps, including nine at The Oval, but pointed out it is difficult to mention just one name who stood out the most. 'I think he (Siraj) has been brilliant. In fact, not only he, but the entire team has performed brilliantly. It is very difficult for me to mention one name, but these guys have, be it Shubman, be it Siraj, be it everyone... I think the boys have been brilliant throughout the last two months,' said Gambhir. Gambhir said that Shubman did a 'fabulous job'. 'That is all I can say, and he will keep doing good for Indian cricket,' he concluded. The series saw close contests in all matches with both sides making new records. All matches ended on the fifth day and the last match of the series was befitting a final with both teams dominating different sessions.
