Man United 'forced to negotiate lower fee with Juventus for sale of Jadon Sancho' as Red Devils come to terms that they will not receive £25m fee

Daily Mail6 days ago
Manchester United are reportedly set to negotiate a lower fee with Juventus for the sale of Jadon Sancho, with the Bianconeri refusing to pay the £25million already cut-price fee.
Sancho, who joined United in 2021 for a hefty £73m fee, has just one year left on his contract after enduring a miserable time on the red half of Manchester.
The 25-year-old spent last season on loan at Chelsea, who had the chance to sign the winger on a permanent deal, but it is said that his wage demands were too high. Instead, the Blues opted to pay the Red Devils £5m to cancel the deal.
Earlier this month, it had been reported that Juventus had expressed an interest in the United outcast; however, they are believed to have informed Ineos that they do not intend to fork out £25m to sign him.
According to Football Italia, the Old Trafford club have now come to terms with the fact they will not get the fee they previously demanded, and have 'no choice' but to negotiate a lower price.
Sancho is said to be keen on a move to Turin and is 'ready to wait' for the 36-time Serie A champions.
Reports suggest he is willing to accept an €8m-a-year (£7m) contract at Juventus, which is significantly lower than the reported staggering £300,000-a-week he is on at United.
Juventus have now stepped up talks with United as they aim to strike a deal for Sancho, who scored five goals and bagged 10 assists in all competitions for Chelsea last season.
Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has previously suggested that Juve are considering a swap deal for Sancho, sending three stars, Douglas Luiz, Dusan Vlahovic, and Timothy Weah, the other way.
United were said to have been made aware that all three players are for sale, though it is unclear if all three would have been involved in a deal for Sancho. The idea was reportedly raised during negotiations about the Englishman.
Sancho is part of a quintet of unsettled stars who have been told to stay away from Carrington as the rest of the squad reported back at the training ground for pre-season last week.
United sources say the decision to delay the return of Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Sancho, and Tyrell Malacia is because they want to leave the club after going out on loan last season and now have more time to explore a move.
The five players will still be allowed to access the medical and rehab facilities at Carrington if needed.
However, by the time they are required to report for training later this month, if they remain at the club, Amorim and the rest of the squad will have gone on pre-season tour to the US.

Howe confident Isak will stay at Newcastle after striker left out of thrashing by Celtic

Eddie Howe is confident Alexander Isak will stay at Newcastle this summer despite omitting the striker from a pre-season thrashing by Celtic because of speculation over his future. Isak was left out of the 4-0 defeat at Celtic Park on Saturday despite being fit to play. The Newcastle manager claimed the decision was taken to manage the striker's minutes in pre-season, but also as a consequence of recent transfer speculation. Liverpool's long-held interest in the Sweden international was confirmed this week with the Premier League champions being prepared to pay a British record transfer fee to make him their new No 9. Liverpool have since turned their attentions to Eintracht Frankfurt forward and Newcastle target Hugo Ekitike after being informed Isak is not for sale. The champions remain in talks over a fee for Ekitike, who is understood to have a €100m (£87m) release clause in his Eintracht contract, with a deal expected to be completed next week. Germany's Sky Sport reported on Saturday night that a second written bid had been submitted. Howe admitted Newcastle are 'desperate' to keep Isak, who has three years remaining on his contract, but added he could not give '100% clarity' on any player's future. The Newcastle manager said of the striker's absence in Glasgow: 'It was my decision. He travelled back to Glasgow with us but I decided to send him home due to the speculation around him. The last thing he wanted is to be sat in the stand watching, that wasn't fair to him. But I'm confident he will be a Newcastle player come the end of the window.' Howe, who also omitted Joelinton against the Scottish champions, added: 'It's difficult for me to give 100% clarity on any player. Alex is happy at Newcastle, he loves the players, the staff, the team. I'm confident he'll be here at the start of the season. Yes, I've had discussions with him but that's not abnormal. I respect a player's career and how short it is. Alex has been really good, he's trained really well and I realise there'll be noise around him.' Liverpool's decision to go for Ekitike, who made it clear he favoured a move to Anfield over St James' Park before Newcastle pulled out of the race for the striker, represents another frustration in what has been a problematic transfer window for Howe. Newcastle have also missed out on João Pedro, Bryan Mbeumo and Liam Delap while their long-running pursuit of Burnley's £40m-rated goalkeeper James Trafford is now in doubt with Manchester City linked with their former player. Howe and his nephew, Andy Howe, have been overseeing much of Newcastle's recruitment this summer, with Paul Mitchell having left as sporting director and Darren Eales due to depart on health grounds. They have completed only one signing so far, the £55m purchase of Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest. 'But we're confident we can get in some players who can strengthen the team. We wanted more.' Celtic took the lead on Saturday from a 28th-minute Arne Engels penalty, then Johnny Kenny tapped in after Nick Pope misjudged an attempted clearance to make it 2-0 just before the break. Yang Hyun-jun and Liam Scales then added two more after both sides rang the changes at half-time, including Newcastle introducing Elanga for the first time.

Man Utd transfer news: Secret striker talks emerge as Ruben Amorim hints at next priority

Manchester United will be eager to do more business after striking an agreement with Brentford to sign Bryan Mbeumo but Ruben Amorim and Co may need outgoings first Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Bryan Mbeumo after weeks of talks with Brentford, but the Red Devils are not expected to stop there in the transfer market. ‌ Pending a medical and final details, Mbeumo will join Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon through the door at Old Trafford as United's third summer signing. The 25-year-old attacker will join for a financial package which could reach £71million if all add-ons are met, with United paying a base fee of £65m across four instalments. ‌ Outgoings will now be needed if United are to pursue further signings with funds at a premium this summer. ‌ Marcus Rashford is closing in on an initial loan move to Barcelona, while Jadon Sancho and Juventus are said to be in advanced talks over a transfer. Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest transfer news from in and around Old Trafford... United's secret Jackson talks Manchester United have spoken with the agent of Nicolas Jackson over a potential swoop for the Chelsea striker, who could leave Stamford Bridge with the Blues strengthening in attack this summer. ‌ United are expected to pursue a No 9 before the transfer window shuts on 1 September and it has previously been reported that Jackson, 24, is not viewed as an 'untouchable' by Chelsea, who have snapped up Liam Delap and Joao Pedro ahead of the new season. BBC Sport have now revealed that United have held talks with Jackson's representative, Ali Barat, over a move. Outgoings would be required for a deal to come to fruition, though. Amorim hints at priority ‌ Ruben Amorim singled out Manchester United's lack of pace in midfield following Saturday's 0-0 draw with Leeds. The Red Devils are expected to move on to other targets - provided they can offload some of their unwanted stars - after reaching an agreement for the transfer of Bryan Mbeumo and Amorim's comments could indicate that he would like to add in the midfield area. He said: "It was a pre-season game. The gaps between our sectors was sometimes too big. We have a lack of pace, especially in the middle of the park and you can feel it is hard to win and bring the ball. But we created chances." ‌ Shock Gyokeres twist Portuguese outlet SIC Noticias claims that Manchester United are close to an agreement with Sporting Lisbon for Viktor Gyokeres. The 27-year-old striker knows Ruben Amorim well from his time in Lisbon but seems destined to join Arsenal following negotiations between the Gunners and Sporting. But with both sides struggling to lock down a final agreement, it's now been claimed United could yet hijack Arsenal's move for Gyokeres.
