Lindsay Lohan never thought she would star in a sequel
Lindsay Lohan "never thought" she would star in a movie sequel.
The actor has reprised her Freaky Friday alter ego Anna Coleman to star in Freakier Friday, and Lohan is "manifesting" the 2025 flick because it felt "really special" to see how her character has evolved.
"I'm excited. It feels surreal. I've never thought I would do a movie where there would be a sequel," the 38-year-old told the US issue of Elle magazine.
"It's something you don't really think about. And then when you get to do it, and bring a character that you knew so well back to life, in a sense, it's exciting.
"There's a comfort with it that you don't find in a new character. It's evolved. What are they like now? How can we shoot it? So it felt really special, and so did doing my first feature back with Disney again after not doing features for such a long time.
"It's a really nice thing."
Lohan, who was 15 years of age at the time of making Freaky Friday, said doing the sequel felt like coming home, and the actor loves that she can "share" the film with her husband Bader Shammas and their toddler son Luai.
"And to be back there at this time and have a full life and be able to share it with my husband and my son, it definitely feels unique in a lot of ways, and it's nice."
Freakier Friday picks up years after Freaky Friday, where Tess (Jamie Lee Curtis) and her daughter Anna switched bodies and lived each other's lives following a freak incident.
Anna has a daughter and is about to have a step-daughter, and she and Tess fear "lightning might indeed strike twice" when the two families "merge".

Addison Rae's TikTok success 'helped her to get to Los Angeles'
Addison Rae saw TikTok as the perfect launchpad for her career. The 24-year-old pop star developed a huge fan following on the video-sharing app amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and Addison admits that her TikTok success allowed her to pursue her long-term career ambitions. The Diet Pepsi hitmaker - who has turned her focus towards music and acting in recent years - said to Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1: "I think in the beginning, especially, and starting out, I always knew that I wanted to make music. I always knew I wanted to act. I think I just knew I wanted to perform. That was just something that was really obvious to me since I was a little girl. "When TikTok happened, I was almost like, well, this seems like a really nice way to get myself to Los Angeles first, because I think in Louisiana there wasn't as many opportunities or like possibility, really, to pursue that profession necessarily, unless you just got really, really lucky." Addison previously insisted that she doesn't have any regrets about her career journey. The pop star always dreamed of becoming a success in the music business, but Addison recognises that TikTok has played an important role in her success. She told ELLE: "All of that led me to where I am right now. "What's funny to me is that people assume that these passions are new. First of all, no one ever even knew who I was before I was a freshman in college, so it's like, 'How would you even know what my interests were before?' I grew up dancing; I've always loved to sing. "I acknowledge how lucky I am that I was on TikTok, and people cared enough to watch my videos and follow me, and therefore gave me the freedom to be able to explore my deep desires that I've always had. It's like, 'What am I going to do? Not chase my dreams because I feel like I haven't done enough school to get here? Or I haven't had enough experience?' It's like, 'No, the door opened for me, and I'm going to go through and explore it.'"
