Digital Revenue Card will be launched on November 1: Minister K. Rajan
The rollout will begin in villages where digital resurvey has already been completed. The new card, resembling an ATM card, will have a unique 10-digit digital number and come embedded with a QR code and chip, allowing citizens to easily access land, building, and liability-related services from village offices.
'The card will streamline access to all services provided by the Revenue department. Most revenue offices are now digitised, and over 21 certificates are currently available online,' the Minister said.
He also highlighted the 'Ente Bhoomi' (My Land) portal, which integrates 14 data points from the Registration, Revenue, and Survey departments, offering users a comprehensive view of land-related information. 'This initiative is creating a transformational shift in how land data is accessed in the state,' he added.
She inaugurated the new Smart Village Office at Kurkanchery, which was built at a cost of ₹50 lakh under the state government's 2022–23 Plan Scheme. Mayor M.K. Varghese presided over the function.

Chief Minister inaugurates Namakkal District Central Cooperative Bank
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the Namakkal District Central Cooperative Bank through video conferencing on Thursday. The Chief Minister inaugurated the bank from Chennai, and at the function held in the bank in Namakkal, MPs Rajeshkumar and Madeswaran, MLAs Ramalingam and Ponnumsamy, District Collector Durgamoorthi, and officials participated. The bank will function with a staff strength of 159, including a managing director, a principal revenue officer, a general manager, two assistant general managers, 23 managers, 34 assistant managers, 93 assistants, and four office assistants. The Namakkal District Central Cooperative Bank has been bifurcated from the Salem District Central Cooperative Bank. The has 746 affiliated societies, including 165 Primary Agricultural Cooperative Credit Societies, four Hill Tribes Large Sized Multipurpose Cooperative Societies, 393 Milk Producers Cooperative Societies, 86 Weavers Cooperative Societies, 26 Employees Cooperative Credit Societies, three Agricultural Producers Cooperative Sales Societies, five Cooperative Urban Banks, seven Primary Cooperative Agricultural and Rural Development Banks and one Cooperative Sugar Mill. Namakkal District Central Cooperative Bank has started its operations with a share capital of Rs. 76.10 crore, deposits of Rs. 1,826.56 crore and outstanding loans of Rs. 1,636.07 crore. In the financial year 2024-2025, this bank has provided crop loans of Rs. 625.81 crore to 55,583 farmers, cattle maintenance loans of Rs. 117.86 crore to 14,346 farmers, medium-term loans of Rs. 13.78 crore to 1,324 farmers, and jewellery loans of Rs. 1,489.81 crore to 1,64,969 individuals. T.N. Cabinet approves free breakfast, medical treatment, other aid for conservancy workers in urban local bodies
The Tamil Nadu Cabinet, headed by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, on Thursday (August 14, 2025), approved six proposals aimed at the welfare of conservancy workers in the State, including free breakfast, medical treatment, housing, increased solatium, subsidy for entrepreneurship, and education assistance for their children. The development comes the morning after protesting conservancy workers of the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) were evicted and detained from outside Ripon Building on Wednesday (August 13). Since the work of conservancy workers commences early in the morning and they face challenges in getting breakfast, the State government would provide free breakfast through urban local bodies, the government stated. The initiative would be rolled out in the GCC initially, and would be expanded to other urban local bodies. Speaking to reporters after a Cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister at the Secretariat, Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu said that a new programme would identify the occupational hazards faced by conservancy workers and provide them with medical treatment. In addition to the assistance extended to registered members of the Tamil Nadu Cleanliness Workers Welfare Board, the State government has decided to extend an insurance cover for ₹5 lakh, thereby taking the total compensation in case of accidental death of a conservancy worker at work to ₹10 lakh to the family, the Minister said. Aiming to improve the socio-economic conditions of conservancy workers and their family members, the Tamil Nadu government would also extend a 35% subsidy to the project outlay (upto ₹3.50 lakh) for entrepreneurship and also provide an interest subsidy of 6% if the interest was paid on time. A sum of ₹10 crore would be allocated every year in this regard. In addition to the assistance provided to the children of conservancy workers for higher education, the State government will implement a new programme to cover their hostel and book fees, the Minister said. To provide housing facilities for conservancy workers, the Tamil Nadu government will construct 30,000 houses within three years in urban areas for those who do not have their own home. Assistance would also be provided to them for housing facilities, including in-situ options, through the Tamil Nadu Housing Board and the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board. In rural areas, conservancy workers will be made beneficiaries of the 'Kalaignar Kanavu Illam' programme, and they would be given priority in the allocation of these housing units, Mr. Thennarasu said. Appeal to workers Responding to a query on the demands of the workers and their detention by the police, the Minister said that cases in this regard were pending before the Madras High Court and the labour tribunal. 'There have been about 12 rounds of talks involving Ministers and the Mayor. The government's doors are always open for talks.' Mr. Thennarasu recalled the steps being undertaken for their welfare by the Chief Minister and further appealed to them to return to duty on behalf of the State government.

Chengannur Revenue Tower construction set to begin
The construction of a Revenue Tower, bringing all major government offices under one roof, is set to begin at Chengannur. It will be inaugurated by Revenue Minister K. Rajan in a function to be held at the old Taluk office compound at 11 a.m. on Thursday. The tower will be constructed on a 40-cent plot near the Chengannur court at a cost of ₹22.12 crore. The facility is designed to house various government services, including those of the RDO, taluk, village and sub-registrar offices, in one place. The decision to build the new facility was prompted by the recognition, during the 2018 floods, of the inadequate infrastructure in the revenue offices, including the taluk office, which had served as the central coordination hub for rescue operations in Chengannur. Following a proposal by Fisheries and Culture Minister Saji Cherian, the project was included in the Rebuild Kerala initiative. The four-storey building, designed in the Kerala architectural style, will have a total floor area of 56,640 sq ft. The ground floor will feature parking, a lobby and storage for voting machines. The first floor will accommodate the registration and village offices. The second floor will house the taluk office and election department, while the third floor will include the RDO conference hall. The fourth floor will accommodate the disaster management office, a conference hall, and a recreation area. In addition, the Revenue Tower will include rooms for storing equipment to be used during natural disasters, droughts, earthquakes or other emergencies; a modern record room; a strong room; a training hall; a cafeteria; and a rest room for staff. Mr. Cherian will preside over the function. Kodikunnil Suresh, MP, Alappuzha District Panchayat president K.G. Rajeshwari, Chengannur municipal chairperson Sobha Varghese, District Collector Alex Varghese and others will attend.
