J-Hope Earns His First Top 40 Hit Without BTS
J-Hope scores his first solo top 40 hit on the Hot 100 (outside of his work with BTS) with 'Killin' ... More It Girl,' which debuts at No. 40, and becomes an instant bestseller. J-Hope is one of the most successful members of BTS when it comes to solo careers. He has produced multiple collections on his own and claims one of the largest accumulations of Hot 100 hits among all South Korean solo musicians.
2025 has been a particularly productive year for the singer and rapper, and as his new tune 'Killin' It Girl' arrives on the American charts, he reaches a very important position for the first time.
J-Hope's 'Killin' It Girl' Debuts Inside the Top 40
J-Hope's new single, 'Killin' It Girl' — a collaboration with rapper GloRilla — launches on this week's Hot 100 at No. 40. The track earns the BTS star his first top 40 placement on Billboard's list of the most consumed songs in the U.S., at least on his own. As a member of the K-pop boy band, he's not only reached that region, but scored multiple No. 1s.
It Took J-Hope Eight Tries to Crack the Top 40
Amazingly, J-Hope needed to place eight songs on the Hot 100 throughout his solo career before he cracked the top 40. Prior to 'Killin' It Girl,' his loftiest appearance came alongside J. Cole with 'On the Street.' That rap tune debuted and peaked at No. 60 in March 2023.
A Track Record of Hot 100 Success
J-Hope became one of the first South Korean solo musicians to land on the Hot 100 more than half a decade ago. He and Becky G sent 'Chicken Noodle Soup' to No. 81 back in October 2019.
Half of his eight wins on the tally have arrived in 2025 alone, as 'LV Bag' (alongside Don Toliver, Pharrell Williams, and Speedy), 'Sweet Dreams' (with Miguel), and 'Mona Lisa' have all spent one turn on the ranking.
'Killin' It Girl' Performs Well Across the Billboard Charts
'Killin' It Girl' is a major hit for J-Hope on all four of the Billboard rankings on which it debuts this frame. While his top 40 start on the Hot 100 is impressive, the collaboration manages to launch inside the top five on the other three lists where it can be found.
'Killin' It Girl' enters the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. in the runner-up rung and the Billboard Global 200 at No. 3. The tune also dominates the Digital Song Sales ranking — the list of the top-selling individual tracks throughout America — with close to 18,500 pure purchases, according to Luminate.

Denis Villeneuve to Direct Next James Bond Film for Amazon MGM
The next James Bond chapter has begun. Denis Villeneuve, the visionary behind 'Dune,' 'Blade Runner 2049,' and 'Arrival,' has been tapped to direct the next James Bond film for Amazon MGM Studios, the company announced on Wednesday. Villeneuve will also executive produce alongside Tanya Lapointe. Amy Pascal and David Heyman, as previously announced, are shepherding the franchise and producing for Amazon MGM after taking over from Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson. More from IndieWire Remembering the Late Joe Don Baker, Dead at 89, Arguably the First American Bond Villain Helen Mirren Has 'Never Liked' James Bond Due to Franchise's 'Profound Sexism' A new 007 still has not been selected. 'Some of my earliest movie-going memories are connected to 007. I grew up watching James Bond films with my father, ever since 'Dr. No' with Sean Connery. I'm a die-hard Bond fan,' Villeneuve said in a statement. 'To me, he's sacred territory. I intend to honor the tradition and open the path for many new missions to come. This is a massive responsibility, but also, incredibly exciting for me and a huge honor. Amy, David, and I are absolutely thrilled to bring him back to the screen. Thank you to Amazon MGM Studios for their trust.' Mike Hopkins, head of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, commented, 'We are honored that Denis has agreed to direct James Bond's next chapter. He is a cinematic master, whose filmography speaks for itself. From Blade Runner 2049 to Arrival to the Dune films, he has delivered compelling worlds, dynamic visuals, complex characters, and — most importantly — the immersive storytelling that global audiences yearn to experience in theaters. James Bond is in the hands of one of today's greatest filmmakers and we cannot wait to get started on 007's next adventure.' Pascal and Heyman said in a statement, 'Denis Villeneuve has been in love with James Bond movies since he was a little boy. It was always his dream to make this movie, and now it's ours, too. We are lucky to be in the hands of this extraordinary filmmaker.' The next big question for Villeneuve is when any new Bond film, which will be the 26th in the long-running spy franchise, would begin production and who will play 007. Villeneuve is expected to be working on a third 'Dune' film, with reports that it could begin shooting as early as this summer and could be aiming for a December 2026 release date, but nothing has been formally announced around the third film. THR however recently reported that Robert Pattinson was being eyed for a role in the film as its villain. Villeneuve is a four-time Oscar nominee (and IndieWire Honors recipient!) and with the two 'Dune' films has made a statement as one of the bigger directorial names at the box office in the biz. Last year's 'Dune: Part Two' was nominated for five Oscars, including Best Picture, and won two. Villeneuve is represented by CAA, Carlos Goodman, and ID. Denis Villeneuve Directing Next James Bond Film
Denis Villeneuve is set to direct the next James Bond film for Amazon MGM Studios, the studio announced on Wednesday. Villeneuve was recently named by Puck's Matt Belloni as one of the high-profile directors being looked at for the project, alongside the likes of Edward Berger, Edgar Wright, Jonathan Nolan, and Paul King. Earlier, the sense was that Alfonso Cuarón, a frequent collaborator of the next Bond's producer David Heyman, might be taking the gig, but he was said to have dropped out of the running for undisclosed reasons. More from Deadline Hannah Friedman Tapped To Pen 'Yesteryear' Novel Adaptation Starring Anne Hathaway For Amazon MGM Studios Xavier Molyneux Lands Lead Role In Amazon MGM Studios' Viking Series 'Bloodaxe' Disney Leads U.S. Box Office With $1.1B Year To Date, But Warner Bros Is Billion-Bound Too The Bond directing gig has been the most closely watched in town ever since Amazon MGM acquired full creative control of the franchise in February, in a historic deal with longtime producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, resulting in a new joint venture. The studio gained distribution rights to Bond with the acquisition of MGM Studios for $8.5 billion in 2022, but has not yet been able to get a new film off the ground, presumably given creative differences with the franchise's previous stewards. There hasn't been a new Bond film since Daniel Craig wrapped up his time with the franchise with No Time to Die in the fall of 2021. The hiring of Villeneuve comes as a bit of a shock, given that he'll be tied up for the foreseeable future with his third and final Dune film for Warner Bros and Legendary Entertainment, which is shooting this summer and is slated for release on December 16, 2026. He's been working on the franchise in some capacity since 2017, having released the first film in 2021, and has also been linked to projects in development including Cleopatra, an adaptation of Arthur C. Clarke's classic sci-fi novel Rendezcous with Rama, and Nuclear War: A Scenario, an adaptation of the work of non-fiction by Annie Jacobsen, on which we were first to report. At the same time, the four-time Oscar nominee has demonstrated with his work on the Dune films that he's exactly the kind of visionary who should be mounting Bond at a time when the future of the franchise is uncertain — a filmmaker with great taste and an epic sensibility who knows how to make franchise fare feel fresh. His two Frank Herbert adaptations to date have been both critical and commercials successes, garnering eight Oscars from 15 nominations, and grossing over $1.1 billion worldwide. Prior to Dune, the Canadian director helmed a sequel to Ridley Scott's sci-fi classic Blade Runner for Warner Bros, seeing Blade Runner 2049 score two Oscars from five nominations and draw critical raves, even as it underwhelmed commercially with over $267 million worldwide. Villeneuve will exec produce the new Bond alongside Tanya Lapointe, with Amy Pascal and Heyman exec producing, as previously announced. In a statement on his new project, Villeneuve said, 'Some of my earliest movie-going memories are connected to 007. I grew up watching James Bond films with my father, ever since Dr. No with Sean Connery. I'm a die-hard Bond fan. To me, he's sacred territory. I intend to honor the tradition and open the path for many new missions to come. This is a massive responsibility, but also, incredibly exciting for me and a huge honor. Amy, David, and I are absolutely thrilled to bring him back to the screen. Thank you to Amazon MGM Studios for their trust.' Commented Mike Hopkins, head of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, 'We are honored that Denis has agreed to direct James Bond's next chapter. He is a cinematic master, whose filmography speaks for itself. From Blade Runner 2049 to Arrival to the Dune films, he has delivered compelling worlds, dynamic visuals, complex characters, and—most importantly—the immersive storytelling that global audiences yearn to experience in theaters. James Bond is in the hands of one of today's greatest filmmakers and we cannot wait to get started on 007's next adventure.' Pascal and Heyman added, 'Denis Villeneuve has been in love with James Bond movies since he was a little boy. It was always his dream to make this movie, and now it's ours, too. We are lucky to be in the hands of this extraordinary filmmaker.' Villeneuve is repped by CAA, Claude Girard Agency in Canada, and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman.
