PDC World Championship schedule released as fans hail ‘mind-melting amount of darts this Christmas'
The PDC have expanded the tournament to 128 players for the 2025/26 edition of the Alexandra Palace showpiece.

This comes with a record-breaking prize pot of £5million on the line, with this year's winner set to pocket an eye-watering £1m.
And the schedule for the expanded competition has now been revealed by organisers.
It will be a 20-day darts bonanza held across 36 sessions which is expected to welcome more than 100,000 fans.
The likes of Luke Littler and Luke Humphries will have to wait to discover their fate in the draw, but they know the round one action will get underway from Thursday, December 11.
Round one will last over a week through to Friday, December 19, with every day except for the opening day and Wednesday, December 17 featuring an afternoon and evening session.
Those who progress will then commence with the second round from Saturday, December 20, which will be played through to Tuesday, December 23 when the competition then takes a break for Christmas.
The darts then return with round three action on Saturday, December 27.
That will last through to Monday, December 29, when three round three clashes play out at the same time as two round four games.
The remainder of round four will be played out across two sessions on Tuesday, December 30.
Similarly, the quarter-finals will take place across an afternoon and evening session on New Year's Day.

Friday, January 2 will see the semi-finals played out, before the darts festival then concludes on Saturday, January 3.
Fans have called the tournament a "a mind-melting amount of darts".
However, fans could be hard-pressed to get tickets as the popularity of darts continues to soar.
A record 40,000 were bought by annual members in the first 30 minutes of pre-sale for the event last year.
The PDC website struggled to cope with the traffic and some fans fumed as they got stuck on a "black screen".
Other fans were left furious after touts got their hands on tickets before reselling them on some sites for a colossal £800.

The woman who filmed the infamous Coldplay 'kiss cam' incident does not regret uploading the clip to social media. Grace Springer posted video of married tech company CEO Andy Byron being caught on a stadium screen embracing a work colleague to TikTok on Friday (18 July), where it went on amass over 122 million views. Appearing on ITV 's This Morning, Springer admitted she felt bad for Byron's wife, but suggested footage of the incident was always likely to surface online. ' I definitely feel for Andy's wife, Megan, his family, and everyone else who's been hurt in the process,' she said. '[But] there were over 50,000 people and I'm not the only one that caught it on camera. ' So if it wasn't me who uploaded it, I'm sure someone else would've.'

Marcus Rashford and the Manchester United transfer boffins
The transfer boffins at Manchester United didn't have a great record last summer when it came to the club's departures. Scott McTominay was deemed not good enough for Ruben Amorim's squad, sold for around half of Manuel Ugarte's fee, and went on to win Serie A Footballer of the Year, leading Napoli to a historic Scudetto. Antony couldn't trap a beanbag in the first half of the season, registering one goal (a penalty in a 7-0 Fizzy Cup win over Barnsley in September) and no assists in the first five months of the campaign in United colours, yet went on to be one of the standout players in La Liga in the second half on loan at Real Betis, scoring nine goals, registering five assists and helping the Seville side reach a European final. Aaron Wan-Bissaka, now of West Ham, was crowned last season's Hammer of the Year for his performances at right back, and despite being named United's Under-23 Player of the Year in 2022, Álvaro Carreras departed Old Trafford for Benfica last summer for just £5m without making a first-team appearance, despite the club desperately needing a good, fit left-back. Make that make sense. This is the same Álvaro Carreras who, this summer, is now worth £43m after signing with Real Madrid to become their first-choice left back. Another player deemed unsuitable for a team that finished 15th in the Premier League but seemingly good enough for a Spanish superclub is Marcus Rashford, who is next on the gilded conveyor belt out of Old Trafford's door marked 'Do One', with the 27-year-old currently in Barcelona finalising a loan (with option to buy) deal with the Spanish champions. Just why Rashford would want to swap Manchester for Catalonia and play on the left wing of an attack that also numbers Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha is anyone's guess, although Ruben Amorim's very public declaration he would rather play a 63-year-old goalkeeping coach over the England international earlier this year is probably quite a good place to start. Recent history tells us – and hopefully the transfer gurus behind each and every one of the above transfer blunders – that Rashford might not be the problem but rather, the club's seemingly unquenchable desire to be a lurching behemoth of a bin fire. Football Daily isn't an expert (in anything, really) but might suggest to Big Sir Jim and his lieutenants that falling out and ostracising the club's best young, home-grown talent probably isn't the best way to get Manchester United back on track. It feels a whole lot more likely that Rashford will have a brilliant season with Barcelona than Manchester United having a brilliant season without him. Sure, Rashford as the 2026 Ballon d'Or winner does seem like a bit of a stretch at this point, but then again, 12 months ago, we didn't expect to see McTominay crowned as the new king of the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.
