5 people hospitalized after crash, vehicle fire in Brighton
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — At least five people were hospitalized Friday afternoon following a two-vehicle crash and subsequent vehicle fire in Brighton, according to authorities.
Officers with the Brighton Police Department and firefighters from the Henrietta Fire District were called to the scene in the area of Furlong Road and W. Henrietta Road just before 1 p.m.

According to police, a 2016 grey Chevy Trax was being driven down W. Henrietta Road when the driver, a 31-year-old Rochester resident, left the lane and crossed into oncoming traffic before colliding with a 2020 gray Nissan Sentra, which police said was driven by a 24-year-old Rochester resident.
Three people were reportedly inside the Chevy, and two in the Nissan. All five were taken to the hospital to be treated for what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.
The Henrietta Fire District Chief Mark Cholach told News 8 fire crews were called to the scene to assist and discovered one car on fire.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Drugs and alcohol were ruled out as factors, per officers. No charges have been filed.

Former Brighton security guard arrested for trying to meet teen in Wyoming Co.
PERRY, N.Y. (WROC) – Officers with the Perry Police Department arrested a former Brighton school security guard on Friday and charged him with disseminating indecent material to minors. According to the PPD, a Facebook group called 'Decoys Making a Difference' went to the police station and turned over a binder that contained a chat log between 54-year-old Christopher L. Kervin and who he believed was a 14-year-old girl. Officers say in the conversations, Kervin asked the teen to send inappropriate pictures and 'wanted to teach the female lessons about her body.' Kervin then went to Crosbys in Perry to meet the alleged 14-year-old. Kervin was interviewed by an investigating officer and ultimately confessed to the conversations he had with the female who he believed was 14 years old. Officers charged Kervin with disseminating indecent material to minors in the first degree, and gave him an appearance ticket. Kervin will appear in Perry Village Court on July 8. The Brighton Superintendent of Schools released the following statement: 'Dear Members of the Brighton School Community, We are writing to let you know that we are aware of stories in the media regarding a former employee that has been charged with first-degree disseminating indecent material to minors. The individual in question has not worked in the District for approximately a year and a half. During their employment, we did not receive any complaints or reports of inappropriate conduct. We do not have any reason to believe that this situation is in any way related to our school district or their prior employment. That said, we will monitor the situation closely and work with law enforcement to address any additional concerns or information that results from their investigation. RPD: 18 illegal dirt bikes and ATVs towed, multiple citations issued
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The Rochester Police Department is continuing its crackdown on illegal ATV and dirt bike activities. According to RPD, they conducted an ATV and dirt bike detail on Wednesday and towed 16 illegal dirt ikes and two illegal ATVs. They were also able to recover a stolen motorcycle. Last May, RPD asked the community to help recover illegal dirt bikes and ATVs, saying many have been stolen and modified with illegal features. Police continue to ask the public to report these incidents by calling 311 or using the Report It app. The tips are encouraged to be anonymous and as detailed as possible.
