Ops Mega Noda: Penang police arrest 116 people for various offences
Its chief, Datuk Hamzah Ahmad said the operation was to conduct raids and arrests on locations and suspects identified as contributing to an increase in the crime index in the state.
He said the operation targeted elements of immorality and gangsterism, potential criminals such as drug addicts and dealers, including tracking down suspects in violent crime cases who are still at large.
'During the operation, 60 premises were raided and 479 individuals were inspected, thus successfully achieving the main objective with 116 arrests including 12 individuals found positive for drugs through urine screening tests and 17 individuals on the police's wanted list.
'The operation also successfully solved eight violent crime cases that occurred in the Timur Laut, Seberang Perai Utara and Seberang Perai Tengah districts,' he said in a statement today.
Hamzah also said the operation was launched in all districts within the Penang police contingent in an integrated manner with the participation of external agencies, specifically to tackle and prevent criminal activities holistically.
According to him, continuous enforcement actions will be implemented from time to time so that the community always feels safe and confident in Penang.

Syndicate prostituting teens, including Form 2 girls, busted
KENINGAU: A human trafficking syndicate that exploited secondary school students for sex work has been dismantled following a series of special operations carried out between July 24 and 29. Keningau district police chief Superintendent Yampil Anak Garai said investigations revealed that the syndicate had recruited teenage girls — including two Form Two students — to be prostituted to clients. "The operation was launched after the victims' parents lodged a report on July 24. "Following this, a team from the Keningau district Criminal Investigation Department rescued four victims aged between 13 and 21, and arrested eight individuals to assist in the investigation," he said when contacted today. One of the suspects, an 18-year-old girl known as "Elly," believed to have acted as the "madam," has already been charged in court under Section 14 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007. Yampil said the syndicate used social media platforms to find clients, charging around RM200 per session. The victims were then sent to pre-arranged hotels, and the earnings were split between the suspect and the victim. "All victims were taken to Keningau Hospital for medical checks and placed at a shelter for women and children. "For the two underage victims, the court approved a three-month protection order, and they have been placed at the Ampang Shelter in Selangor until Nov 13," he added.

Police probe TikTok account, launch disciplinary action in Zara Qairina case
THE Royal Malaysia Police has launched dual investigations into the case of 13-year-old Zara Qairina Mahathir, focusing both on misinformation spread online and alleged procedural failures by officers in the initial probe of her death. Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Datuk M Kumar S Muthuvelu said police are investigating TikTok account @berjuanguntukzara for uploading inaccurate and misleading content. He warned that unverified claims could confuse the public and undermine the investigation. The case is being probed under the Sedition Act 1948, Penal Code Section 505(b) for causing public fear, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of online services. Separately, Bukit Aman's Integrity and Standard Compliance Department will open disciplinary proceedings against three Sabah police officers – a superintendent district police chief, an assistant superintendent CID head, and an inspector – for lapses in handling the case. Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the officers failed in their supervisory responsibilities, including the investigating officer's omission to request a post-mortem. 'They must be held accountable. Firm action will be taken against those who failed to act or supervise properly,' he said. Zara, a Form One student at SMKA Tun Datu Mustapha in Papar, was found unconscious in a drain near her hostel on July 16 after allegedly falling from the third floor. Police probe TikTok account over false claims in Zara Qairina case
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have launched an investigation into a TikTok account alleged to have spread inaccurate and misleading content related to the Zara Qairina Mahathir case. Federal Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Datuk M. Kumar confirmed that the account, identified as @berjuanguntukzara, is being probed under multiple laws for uploading content deemed false and potentially harmful. "The investigation is being conducted under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948, Section 505(b) of the Penal Code, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998," he said in a statement today. "These provisions cover offences involving the improper use of network facilities and services, as well as content that has the tendency to incite hatred towards any party, and which could cause public alarm and anxiety," he added. Kumar urged the public to immediately stop sharing unverified information, warning that the spread of false narratives could lead to public confusion and undermine the effectiveness of police investigations.
