Cops nab five more suspects over brutal Kepala Batas machete attack
KEPALA BATAS: Five more suspects were detained in connection with the brutal attack in front of a restaurant on Jalan Raja Uda here that left a man seriously injured last Friday (May 16). North Seberang Perai acting OCPD Supt C. Tharmalingam said the suspects, all in their 30s, were arrested during Ops Cantas on May 19 and 20. "The operation was conducted by a team of police from the state contingent Criminal Investigation Department," he said. Supt Tharmalingam said the investigation into the case is still ongoing. The arrest brings the total number of suspects detained in connection with the case to seven. On May 18, police arrested two men in their 30s after a 41-year-old man was brutally attack by three masked men at about 7.20pm Friday. Supt Tharmalingam said the case has been classified under Section 326 of the Penal Code. "The police are appealing to members of the public who have any information regarding this case to contact investigating officer Insp Irwan Shah at 04-576 2222 or any nearby police station to assist with the investigation," he said.

Kluang OCPD ACP Bahrin Mohd Noh stated that the 28-year-old suspect was arrested by a team from the Criminal Investigation Division during Ops Cantas at Taman Berlian Biru at 10am on Wednesday (April 23). "The incident occurred at 6.15pm," said ACP Bahrin, adding that checks revealed the suspect had four prior drug-related records. "A urine test showed that the suspect was positive for methamphetamine," he said in a statement on Wednesday. According to Bahrin, the case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for causing injury and Section 506 for criminal intimidation. Prior to this, a video of the incident went viral on social media, depicting an argument between two men and an incident involving a sports utility vehicle driver kicking another car several times before leaving the scene. Ops Mega Noda: Penang police arrest 116 people for various offences
GEORGE TOWN: Penang police arrested 116 individuals for various offences throughout the state via the Criminal Investigation Department's (CID) Operation Mega Noda/Ops Cantas which began last Saturday and ended yesterday. Its chief, Datuk Hamzah Ahmad said the operation was to conduct raids and arrests on locations and suspects identified as contributing to an increase in the crime index in the state. He said the operation targeted elements of immorality and gangsterism, potential criminals such as drug addicts and dealers, including tracking down suspects in violent crime cases who are still at large. 'During the operation, 60 premises were raided and 479 individuals were inspected, thus successfully achieving the main objective with 116 arrests including 12 individuals found positive for drugs through urine screening tests and 17 individuals on the police's wanted list. 'The operation also successfully solved eight violent crime cases that occurred in the Timur Laut, Seberang Perai Utara and Seberang Perai Tengah districts,' he said in a statement today. Hamzah also said the operation was launched in all districts within the Penang police contingent in an integrated manner with the participation of external agencies, specifically to tackle and prevent criminal activities holistically. According to him, continuous enforcement actions will be implemented from time to time so that the community always feels safe and confident in Penang.
