Celebrity Women Who Have Played Roxie Hart in 'Chicago' on Broadway
Originally debuted in 1975, Chicago is a musical that follows the satirical concept of 'celebrity criminals.' The play follows Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly, both convicted of murder, as the media goes crazy over 'killer women.' Since its debut, it's become a quick classic, earning countless records and acclaim. In 2002, a movie adaptation was created starring Bridget Jones star Renée Zellweger and Catherine Zeta-Jones, winning the Academy Award for Best Picture.
The role of the hilarious unlikeable Roxie Hart has been played by many famous faces from actress to reality TV stars and everything in between. On August 13, it was announced that Alyssa Milano would take over the honor from Ariana Madix and making her Broadway debut in the iconic role.
Milano, has some big shoes to fill — as you'll see when you take a scroll through this list — but we're confident that the musical theatre major will bring the house down when she takes to the Broadway stage.

Melrose Place alum Alyssa Milano will make her debut as Roxie Hart beginning on September 16 at the Ambassador Theatre through November 10.

'To finally be making my Broadway debut in the role of Roxie Hart in the iconic musical Chicago and to stand on the shoulders of such honorable lineage is all that a little girl who loved to sing and dance and make people smile could have ever dreamt of. I can't wait to hit the stage.'

His appearance on the 'Joe Rogan Experience' in October 2024 saw 800,000 people tune in within the first hour, according to CNN data analyst Harry Enten.
