Roy Keane's daughter, 29, opens up on life-changing lupus diagnosis and reveals how the Man United legend is supporting her
Roy Keane 's daughter has opened up on her life-changing health diagnosis.
Carragh Keane, 29, is battling incurable autoimmune condition lupus, which she was diagnosed with in 2021.
The disease causes joint pain, skin rashes and tiredness and led to her turning down her first job in teaching.
As reported by The Sun, Carragh said: 'In the summer of 2021, I developed blisters on my fingers and toes, which a dermatologist told me were chilblains.
'But that didn't make any sense, given the warm weather.
'I was also suffering from fatigue and struggled to keep my eyes open while driving.
'I even fell asleep during a haircut once, which was mortifying.'
Carragh discussed the disappointment that she felt as she was forced to turn down her dream job.
She said: 'Once, when I was driving home from an interview for my dream job as a primary school teacher, my hips, knees and wrists were so painful I could barely turn the steering wheel.
'The role was everything I'd worked towards since graduating from the University of St Andrews, but when the headteacher called to offer it to me, I choked back tears and told him I couldn't accept it as I wasn't well.
'After that day, I crashed. My hair fell out in clumps, I was covered head to toe in blisters and too weak to get out of bed.'
Carragh was diagnosed with lupus and described her Dad, Manchester United legend Roy, as 'the most supportive person'.
Carragh is the second-oldest of five children that Roy shares with wife Theresa Doyle.
She said: 'My dad is the most supportive person, and my mum Theresa is super-positive, too, which stopped me spiralling.
Caragh has launched Superkeen Foods, which sells organic foods that help others who are suffering with lupus.
She said: 'When I look at it now, it's obviously led me on this journey and I'm grateful for the food moments.
'With the main overarching aim of being inclusive and knowing you're not alone, I hope I can help people.
'Everyone's on their own journey but we're all in it together.
'I started eating real whole foods so I focused on good meat, fish and healthy fats, veggies and fruits, gut-healing foods like bone broth and fermented food, and supplements.
'I started noticing my hair growing back and all my blisters started fading on my face.
'My joint pain subsided after a few months and then I remember think, 'There are lots of people out there suffering that don't know the healing properties of food'.'
Caragh described her father as 'one of the funniest people you will meet'.
Caragh told The Irish Independent: 'Do you know what so many people say? He's a bit of an enigma. But being my dad, he's just one of the funniest people you will meet. He is so very witty.
'He's kind of a unique individual. I'm very grateful to have him, and he's great to chat to. You'll always get good advice from my dad.
'With our Irish background, he's always very "let go of things" or "you're on a path" and "someone's looking out for you". When I've been at my lowest, that's been really helpful.

Viktor Gyokeres sends message to Sporting after Man Utd handed new asking price
Viktor Gyokeres is 'furious' with Sporting CP after the Portuguese giants made the decision not to sell him for a reduced fee this summer. Gyokeres, 26, emerged as one of Europe' most prolific centre forwards last season, finishing the campaign with 52 goals in 54 appearances. It followed a thrilling first campaign in Portugal where he netted 43 in 50 appearances under current Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim. The Sweden international fired Sporting to a league and cup double in May and has remained coy on his future, even failing to rule out the possibility of another season at Lisbon. But privately, Gyokeres has fully expected to be sold by the club this summer. Wake up to find news on your club in your inbox every morning with Metro's Football Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your team in the link so we can send you football news tailored to you. The former Coventry City star has a release clause of €100million. But last year, in return for him staying on for another season, Sporting agreed to sell him this summer for a fee below that clause. It was agreed if Sporting received an offer of at least €60m with a further €10m in add-ons, they would not stand in his way. Record report however Sporting president Frederico Varandas has decided not to honour that agreement. While the Portuguese champions are still waiting for official bids, clubs who have made enquiries have been told it will cost at least €80m to do business. Arsenal and Chelsea are among the clubs interested in signing Gyokeres having seemingly turned their attention elsewhere in recent weeks. Manchester United are also interested in signing him this summer but would likely need to raise further cash this summer to move forward with a bid with O Jogo reporting there still have been no official approach from Amorim's side. The situation has left Gyokeres 'furious', feeling the club have gone back on their word and abandoned promises made to him last summer. More Trending The striker has also removed references to Sporting from his Instagram account – although he also appears to have removed mentions of sponsor Nike and the Sweden national team. Gyokeres is a bunch of different strikers blended into one. He's a bulldozer, but he's also got that turn of pace and knack of finding himself in shooting areas. Some strikers, you can see they overthink things, but he'll shoot first and ask questions later. At 6ft 2in, he could definitely add an aerial presence to his game to take himself to the next level, but he's very good at using his chest as a magnet to win these aerial duels. He may not be as fearless as others when it comes to aerial duels, but he knows how to use his strengths to his advantage to hold up the ball and bring others into play. He's not someone like Roberto Firmino who is going to be dropping deep, so if Arsenal need to change certain things to get the best out of Gyokeres then they should. Zach Lowy, European football expert With Chelsea signing Liam Delap and Arsenal focusing on Benjamin Sesko, Gyokeres' options in the Premier League may have narrowed to United. The player has also turned down what would be a hugely lucrative move to Saudi Arabia. United have no European football on offer this season but that did not prevent them from signing Matheus Cunha from Wolved. Bryan Mbeumo has also favoured a move to Old Trafford ahead of Arsenal and Newcastle with United expected to make a second bid for the Brentford star soon. Erik ten Hag tried to STOP £86m Antony transfer - former Man United boss' agent reveals what REALLY happened during club's disastrous deal
A sensational new report has now claimed that former Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag tried to block the signing of Antony, rather than endorse it. The new Bayer Leverkusen boss is widely reported to have been a key figure in the £86million acquisition of the Brazil forward back in 2022, when United welcomed Ten Hag to the dugout. He was not the only player to make the move from Ajax, joining Argentina centre back Lisandro Martinez in joining United, with Tyrell Malacia (Feyenoord), Cristian Eriksen (free) and Casemiro (Real Madrid) also signing on. However, the move has hardly gone as planned, with Antony yet to deliver on the huge outlay splashed on his services, and was recently sent out on loan to Real Betis after struggling to break into Ruben Amorim 's set up. As such, it had appeared to reflect badly on Ten Hag given the claims that he had been a key part of the signing, yet the co-founder of the manager's agency, has claimed in a new book that they tried to block the move. 'Ten Hag and Vos were not in favour of this and wanted to stop the transfer,' writes Kees Vos of the Antony transfer in the book, Liverpool and the Dutch. 'But the club wanted to push through at all costs, because Arsenal was also interested in Antony. 'The risk of a stronger competitor would be great. Ultimately, Manchester United paid almost 100 million euros for Antony. 'Although Ten Hag did not support this transfer, it stuck with him throughout his entire time in Manchester that he took over the attacker from Ajax for this ill-fated amount, who was never able to fulfil his promise.' Antony's stint at Old Trafford has thus far been far from inspiring, with just 12 goals and five assists in 96 games for the Red Devils. Yet a brief sojourn in Seville in the second half of the season seems to have reinvigorated the player, who came up with 14 contributions in 26 appearances - just five shy of his entire United tally in nearly a quarter of the time. However that could come to help United this summer as they look to move him on, and an upturn in form may at least have reminded potential suitors that there is at least a talented attacker still in Antony. Rene Meulensteen, who worked under Ferguson between 2007 and 2013, has ripped into wingers Antony and Alejandro Garnacho, insisting they must be the first to go. Incredibly, Meulensteen also brutally labelled Antony, who spent the six months of the season on loan at Real Betis, 'selfish' while declaring Garnacho is 'bad' for United. He also claimed Ajax were 'doing cartwheels' after agreeing to sell Antony for a whopping £80million in August 2022 - with United now braced for a significant loss. 'I wouldn't bring Antony back because I've seen enough of him that he's not cut out for the club and not good enough,' Meulensteen told Tipman Tips. 'His performances are fuelled by his personality and are not for the good of the team, he's selfish. 'You will never get your £80m back from Antony. I thought it was stupid business at the time when I heard it was happening. 'I know that when they heard about the deal in Amsterdam, they were doing cartwheels. It shows again that players in those lower leagues, like Holland, are completely different. They're playing very different styles, a slower tempo. 'Teams like Ajax, PSV and Feyenoord are the best, so it's easy for them to look good. 'But coming into the Premier League is so much different. What is Antony's return? How many goals and assists has he got? He's probably got as many, if not more, in Spain than in England, that different kind of football is more ideal for him.'

Arsenal hope to bring in Spanish midfielder Martin Zubimendi, amid reported interest from Real Madrid, and Mikel Arteta has sanctioned talks with RB Leipzig over striker Benjamin Sesko in their ongoing pursuit for a No 9. Manchester United have already secured Matheus Cunha from Wolves for £62.5m, and are negotiating with Brentford over Bryan Mbeumo with Viktor Gyokeres also on the list of wanted strikers. Captain Bruno Fernandes also provided a boost by turning down a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia. The Real Madrid noise about Zubimendi has surprised those at Sociedad who would obviously prefer to sell to Arsenal, and still anticipate that's what will happen. The Gunners were relaxed about the transfer before the weekend but this is what Madrid do. Miguel Delaney10 June 2025 08:00 Liverpool offer £113m for Wirtz Liverpool have launched a new record bid for Florian Wirtz, raising their offer to a club record £113m. Bayer Leverkusen are believed to want £150m for the Germany international, who would prefer a move to Anfield. Liverpool's initial proposal came to £109m, including add-ons, but they have now submitted an improved offer with a greater guarantee of £100m. Wirtz also attracted attention from Bayern Munich but told the German champions he wanted to go to Liverpool. Richard Jolly10 June 2025 07:58 Man Utd given boost in pursuit of Gyokeres Viktor Gyokeres is open to joining his former manager Ruben Amorim at Manchester United. That's according to TalkSport, who report that Sporting want £60m for the prolific striker, who has 97 goals in 102 games in Portugal. Gyokeres is a wanted man, with Arsenal also interested in his signature and with Champions League football to offer, but United hope Amorim can persuade the Swede to move to Old Trafford. And they will be buoyed by signs that the 27-year-old wants to join. A potential stumbling block is the fact United can not offer European football this season which may give other interested clubs an advantage in negotiations. Mike Jones10 June 2025 07:58 Manchester City confirm signing of Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolves Manchester City have made their first summer signing by completing a €37m (£31.6m) deal to sign Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolves. The left-back has agreed a five-year deal at the Etihad Stadium after passing a medical and will be registered in time to make his debut at the Club World Cup. City are set to continue buying with a £46m deal agreed to bring in midfielder Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan, which will take their spending in 2025 to around £250m after the mid-season additions of Omar Marmoush, Nico Gonzalez, Vitor Reis and Abdukodir Khusanov. Ait-Nouri becomes arguably the first specialist left-back signed by City since Joao Cancelo in 2019, although the 24-year-old often played as a wing-back for Wolves. Richard Jolly10 June 2025 07:57 Man City agree fee for Rayan Cherki Manchester City have agreed an initial €36m (£30.3m) fee with Lyon for midfielder Rayan Cherki as Pep Guardiola's June spending spree continues. They hope the 21-year-old midfielder could be one of four signings they complete in time for the Club World Cup. The France international, who also attracted attention from Liverpool, is expected to sign a five-year contract at the Etihad Stadium as City have made a fast start to their summer business.
