CoBRA commando, Maoist killed in Chhattisgarh operation
The operation is ongoing in the Tumrel village area of the district. The operation is being led by the 210th battalion of CRPF's CoBRA and has troops from Chhattisgarh Police DRG and STF, the officials said.
A CoBRA commando has also been injured as per unconfirmed inputs, they said.
An IAF helicopter has been pressed into service to evacuate the injured, officials said.
The Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) is the special jungle warfare unit of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) that is the lead force for these operations in the Left Wing Extremism-affected States.

Raipur: The Chhattisgarh high court has upheld a Bastar trial court's 2016 decision to acquit two men accused of possessing tiffin bombs and being active members of a banned Maoist organisation, observing that "suspicion, no matter how strong, cannot take the place of proof. " A division bench of Justice Sanjay S Agrawal and Justice Radhakishan Agrawal dismissed the state's appeal against the acquittal of Muchaki Deva (38) and Vijja Podyami (35), who were booked under the Chhattisgarh Vishesh Jan Suraksha Adhiniyam, 2005, and the Explosive Substances Act, 1908. According to the prosecution, both men were apprehended in Sept 2015 near Bhadrimahu village, Bastar, during a search operation, and explosive devices were recovered based on their statements. However, the trial court found contradictions in the seizure proceedings and noted the absence of an FSL report to confirm that the seized material was explosive. The HC, after examining witness statements, found "major contradictions and omissions" in the testimonies of the investigating officer and two seizure witnesses. "The entire case was based on suspicion, but suspicion cannot substitute for proof," the judgment said. Concluding that the trial court's acquittal was "just and proper", the high court said there was no reason to interfere with the order, thereby dismissing the state's appeal. Axed CRPF jawan dies by suicide, blames wife
Patna: A suspended CRPF jawan on parole allegedly ended his life in Bihar's Saran district, leaving behind a video and suicide note accusing his wife and mother-in-law of mental harassment. Anand Kumar, 45, a resident of Jakhua village under Rivilganj police station, consumed poison on Thursday night. He had been released on 90-day parole from a Jammu and Kashmir jail, where he was serving a life sentence for killing three colleagues in 2006. In the video, Anand alleged, "My wife Sarita and my mother-in-law have together ruined my family and my life. I am taking this step because of them. Only my wife Sarita is responsible for my death." He claimed his wife emotionally blackmailed him, insulted him and that her family also mentally tortured him. Rivilganj SHO Subhash Kumar Paswan, however, said Anand fell ill after dinner on Thursday. "The family rushed him to Chhapra Sadar Hospital, where he passed away during treatment on Friday night. The police conducted an autopsy and handed over the body to the family," he said. Sunil Yadav, accused in Viveka murder, joins Pulivendula ZPTC bypoll fray
T irupati: Yadati Sunil Yadav, one of the key accused in the murder of former MP Y S Vivekananda Reddy, is contesting the Pulivendula ZPTC by-election as an independent candidate. Yadav was released on bail by Telangana high court in Oct last year, after spending nearly three years in jail. He has been named as one of the key accused by the CBI in the sensational crime, which rocked Andhra Pradesh just before the 2019 general elections. After coming out on bail, Yadav, who continues to deny his involvement in the murder and had also expressed his intentions to enter politics, has now filed his nomination to contest the Aug 12 ZPTC bypoll. Yadav, who is pinning his hopes on the anti-YS family sentiment in Pulivendula, has been targeting Kadapa MP Y S Avinash Reddy, who too is a key accused in the murder case as per the CBI chargesheet.
