Man found dead near roadway on DuSable Lake Shore Drive in Lakeview
Chicago police are investigating after a man was found dead early Saturday morning on the city's North Side.
They said the man was found near the street, in the 3600 block of North DuSable Lake Shore Drive, shortly after 3:30 a.m., unresponsive, and was pronounced dead at the scene. The exact age of the victim is unknown.
The Office of Emergency Management and Communication said northbound lanes are closed from Recreation Drive to Irving Park Road for investigation. Drivers are advised to seek an alternate route.
Area 3 detectives and the Major Accidents Investigation Unit are investigating.
No further information was available.

Mexican authorities seize 110,000 fentanyl pills and arrest 3, including 1 American
Three people, including an American citizen and a dual national, were arrested and 110,000 fentanyl pills were seized, Mexican authorities said Saturday. The arrests were conducted by the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection and the Attorney General's Office, in coordination with other federal agencies, the SSCP said in a news release. The Federal Bureau of Investigation also took part in the binational operation, the SSCP said. Information acquired by the U.S. and Mexico allowed security agents to implement "intelligence work and surveillance actions" that led them to the three people. After conducting ground patrols in Mexico's Ciudad Juárez, security agents identified two men and a woman traveling in a vehicle. The three fled when they noticed authorities, the SSCP said. After a brief chase, the three were stopped. Security agents found the fentanyl pills inside the vehicle. They had been divided into 10 packages made of clear plastic. Photos shared on social media by SSCP leader Omar Hamid García Harfuch also show four IDs and three cell phones. The three people have not been identified. The woman is American. One of the men is a Mexican-American dual national and has a warrant out in the U.S. for drug dealing, authorities said. The arrests will help "curb the trafficking of illicit substances and prevent drugs from reaching young people," the SSCP said. Mexico's president, Claudia Sheinbaum, has made combating illegal drug distribution a priority for her government. In recent months, authorities in the country have announced several major fentanyl seizures, including a 2024 seizure that officials say was the biggest in the country's history.

Man, 26, fatally shot in neck during Bronx clash
A 26-year-old man was killed Saturday after he was fatally shot in the neck during a bloody Bronx clash, police said. The victim was inside the lobby of an E. 174th St. apartment building near West Farms Road in Crotona Park East at about 9:40 a.m. when he ended up embroiled in a fight, police said. During the scrap, his opponent pulled a gun and opened fire, striking him in the neck, cops said. Police responding to a report of an assault in progress found the victim in the lobby, bleeding from the neck. EMS rushed him to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he died. His name was not immediately disclosed. The gunman, who was wearing all black, ran out of the building. No arrests have been made. Cops were in the area Saturday looking for surveillance footage that can help them identify the shooter.

Bismarck man sentenced for fleeing law enforcement, crashing vehicle in Jamestown
Jun. 21—JAMESTOWN — An 18-year-old Bismarck man who led law enforcement on a pursuit that started on Interstate 94 and ended in a two-vehicle crash in Jamestown was sentenced recently in Southeast District Court in Jamestown. Jamie Ray Barnes pleaded guilty to fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, reckless endangerment and theft of property, Class C felonies that were later deemed misdemeanors, and aggravated reckless driving, a Class A misdemeanor. Charges of criminal vehicular injury, persons under the influence of intoxicating liquor or any other drugs or substances not to operate a vehicle, prohibited acts-more than a half ounce of marijuana and driving while license was suspended or revoked were dismissed in exchange for guilty pleas to the other charges. Barnes was accused of taking a vehicle valued between $1,000 and $10,000, failing or refusing to bring the vehicle he was driving to a stop or fleeing or attempting to elude when a pursuing police vehicle or peace officer gave a visual or audible signal to bring the vehicle to a stop, recklessly creating a substantial risk of serious bodily injury or death to another and driving a vehicle recklessly in disregard of the rights or safety of others on May 10. Judge Troy LeFevre sentenced Barnes to 210 days in the Stutsman County Correctional Center with credit for 31 days served. LeFevre placed Barnes on 24 months supervised probation and ordered him to submit to fingerprints. LeFevre also ordered Barnes to pay a $35 indigent defense application fee and a $25 victim-witness fee. The court retains jurisdiction on restitution for 60 days. Barnes is eligible for the Cooperative Treatment Release program. Barnes fled from a North Dakota Highway Patrol trooper, who was responding to a report of reckless driving, on May 10 about a mile west of Eldridge on I-94, according to Sgt. Nathaniel King with the North Dakota Highway Patrol. The vehicle Barnes was driving entered Jamestown at exit 257, and the trooper discontinued the pursuit. The vehicle was later located by a Stutsman County Sheriff's Office deputy and a Jamestown police officer as it approached the intersection of 17th Street Southwest and U.S. Highway 281 where the vehicle drove through a red light and almost struck another motorist, according to Maj. Justin Blinsky, assistant chief of police for the Jamestown Police Department. Barnes continued to flee throughout parts of southeast Jamestown before he disregarded a red light and struck a 2021 GMC Sierra pickup, driven by a 30-year-old Jamestown man, traveling southbound through the intersection, Blinsky said. A Class C felony is punishable by five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. A Class A misdemeanor is punishable by 360 days in prison and a $3,000 fine.
