Zimbabwe announce 16-man squad for New Zealand Test series
Zimbabwe have named a 16-player squad for their upcoming two-Test series against New Zealand, set to begin on July 30 in Bulawayo.
Several senior players return to the squad after missing the recent series against South Africa.
This includes experienced all-rounder Sikandar Raza and top-order batters Roy Kaia and Tanunurwa Makoni.
Also returning is young opener Brian Bennett, who was one of the standout performers during Zimbabwe's drawn Test series in Bangladesh earlier this year. Bennett finished as the second-highest run-scorer in that series and helped Zimbabwe win their first Test against Bangladesh since 2018. He also scored a century against England in the one-off Test at Trent Bridge in May.
The 21-year-old missed part of the South Africa series due to a concussion but has now recovered and is available for the New Zealand series.

The two-time MVP is constantly looking to improve his skills. He recently took the time to respond to a video showing him improving in one of his lesser skill sets during an offseason game. The video also showed Dirk Nowitzki. He was one of the NBA's best players throughout the 2000s and portions of the 2010s. The Milwaukee Bucks player shared an X video, where he got defeated by the icon, and wrote in the caption: 'Keep sharpening your tools G…' Additionally, he also made the news recently after he reacted as his wife took his phone in order to go live on Instagram. Shortly after Damian Lillard announced his return to the Portland Trail Blazers, his former teammate went viral. It happened after Giannis Antetokounmpo's wife, Mariah Riddlesprigger, took his cell phone while they were looking for a cockroach that had gotten into their home. While his wife appears to be standing on a stool or elevated platform, the Greek player can be seen in the video amusingly searching their home for the roach. He then asked his wife to leave the live. However, his wife jokingly answered: 'This will motivate you to kill the thing--- this will motivate you, after what you just put us through, it's time for you to get motivated. Move those shoes right there and see…' Giannis Antetokounmpo is a remarkable player (Image via Instagram / @giannis_an34) He then said: 'Ah! I'm done with you… After this, I want a divorce, I swear to god I'm not playing with you, get out of my live! Get out of my live!' Cincinnati Bengals rookie Shemar Stewart stuck without contract after Mike Brown's jail comment
Cincinnati Bengals rookie Shemar Stewart stuck without contract after Mike Brown's jail comment (Image Via X) Cincinnati Bengals owner Mike Brown left fans and reporters in shock on July 21, 2025, during a press meet at the team's training camp in Cincinnati, Ohio. He made a bold statement about rookie defensive end Shemar Stewart, who still hasn't signed his contract with the team. While many thought the delay was about money, Mike Brown hinted at a much different reason. His comment about paying players who land in jail raised questions and created even more drama around the unsigned rookie. The wait continues as fans wonder if this will stop the deal completely. What Mike Brown wants in Shemar Stewart's contract Mike Brown, who has owned the Cincinnati Bengals since 1991, said the issue with Shemar Stewart's contract is not about cash. Instead, it's about a clause the Cincinnati Bengals want to include. Mike Brown said on July 21 that he doesn't want to pay a player who ends up in jail. 'If we get a player who does something unacceptable, guess what? I don't want to pay him. I really don't,' he said while speaking to reporters. Mike Brown admitted that this type of clause is new and not something they've used before. He explained that Shemar Stewart is not in trouble but the team wants extra protection. Mike Brown said, 'If he's sitting in jail, I don't think I have to pay him.' He called it a 'peculiar situation,' but said he still hopes to sign the rookie soon. Shemar Stewart still training but missing camp Shemar Stewart, 21, was picked 17th overall in the 2025 NFL Draft. He played college football at Texas A&M. Since June, he's been training on his own in College Station, Texas. Stewart has not joined Bengals camp in Cincinnati, which began on July 23 at Kettering Health Practice Fields. Because he hasn't signed, he can't take part in team practices. Bengals director Duke Tobin said, 'He's listening to the advice he's paying for. I don't understand the advice.' Reports say Stewart's contract also has fewer injury protections and bonus money than others drafted in similar spots.
