San Jose's PayPal Park will host NWSL championship game on Nov. 22

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — PayPal Park in San Jose, California, will host the National Women's Soccer League championship game on Nov. 22.
PayPal Park is the home of the NWSL's Bay FC as well as the Major League Soccer's San Jose Earthquakes. The 18,800-seat stadium, opened in 2015, has hosted U.S. national team matches. The U.S. men's team will play Trinidad and Tobago in its opening CONCACAF Gold Cup match at the stadium on Sunday.
The NWSL Championship, which has been held at a predetermined location since 2015, will be broadcast on CBS and streamed on Paramount+, the NWSL said in its announcement Friday.
'This community's passion for the game, combined with the excitement surrounding one of our newest teams in Bay FC, makes it the perfect setting to celebrate the league's top talent and crown our next champion," NWSL Commissioner Jessica Berman said in a statement.
Bay FC, founded by former U.S. national team players Brandi Chastain, Leslie Osborne, Danielle Slaton and Aly Wagner, joined the league last season.
The NWSL playoffs start Nov. 7.

Angel City, the National Women's Soccer League team based in Los Angeles, distributed T-shirts to fans on Saturday that proclaimed 'Immigrant City Football Club.' Members of the team and the coaching staff also wore the shirts before their game Saturday night against the North Carolina Courage in solidarity with immigrants in the city who have been targeted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. The back of the shirts said 'Los Angeles is for Everyone' in English and Spanish. The team said some 10,000 shirts were distributed. Protests over President Donald Trump's immigration policies broke out in Los Angeles a week ago. National Guard members and Marine troops have been sent into the city and dozens of similar protests have broken out nationwide. Last week Angel City issued a statement on social media addressing the protests. 'We are heartbroken by the fear and uncertainty many in our Los Angeles community are feeling right now,' it said. 'At Angel City, we believe in the power of belonging. We know that our city is stronger because of it's diversity and the people and families who shape it, love it and call it home.' The players' unions for the NWSL and the WNBA also expressed solidarity with families 'facing fear, hardship, and uncertainty tied to immigration.' 'We stand with all people seeking safety, dignity, and opportunity, no matter where they come from or where they hope to go,' the NWSLPA and WNBPA posted jointly. Chawinga's late goal seals Kansas City Current's fifth straight win, 4-2 over Racing Louisville
Temwa Chawinga scored her eighth goal of the season and the Kansas City Current won their fifth straight game, beating Racing Louisville 4-2 in the National Women's Soccer League on Saturday night. Elsewhere in the NWSL, the Chicago Stars were held to a 2-2 tie with the Seattle Reign; and the North Carolina Courage snatched a late 2-1 win against Angel City. The Current (10-2-0) bullied Louisville (5-5-2) early and had a 3-0 lead by the 19th minute. Louisville defender Lauren Millet headed into her own net for the opening goal after just two minutes. Michelle Cooper then finished off a counterattack at the near post in the 15th before Bia Zaneratto got the third from the center of the box in the 19th. Louisville's Janine Sonis scored off a cross from Millet in the 62nd minute to make it 3-1. Uchenna Kanu's header from a corner kick in the 88th then made it 3-2. Chawinga's strike in the fifth minute of stoppage time made it 4-2. She has scored in all five games of the team's win streak. Ludmila scores twice as Stars drop lead for draw Ludmila scored two first-half goals for the Stars but the Reign came back with a pair of goals in the final minutes for the draw at Chicago's Soldier Field. Nationals' bat-retrieving dog Bruce laps up pregame attention, makes MLB debut: ‘Look at this dog and try not to smile'
The dog days of summer arrived Saturday at Nationals Park. Bruce, a 21-month-old Golden Retriever, fetched a bat during a ceremony before the Washington Nationals' game against the Miami Marlins as part of a Pups in the Park promotion. He retrieved bats the last two seasons with the Rochester Red Wings, Washington's Triple-A affiliate.
