Rangers 'monitoring' teenage Cypriot centre-forward
Read more:
And reports in Cyprus have revealed Rangers have sent scouts to watch Anorthosis Famagusta's 19-year-old striker Charalambous in his last three games....where he's scored in every one of the matches, including a double in his last game.
Charalambous has made a big impact after bursting onto the scene this year and has scored five goals for his club in just seven starts.
And representatives of the Ibrox club watched him score against Nea Salamis, Enosis and AEL Larissa in his recent games.
He has two years left of his contract at the Cypriot club, but Rangers would face competition from second tier German side, Kaiserslautern to sign the promising youngster.

Russell Martin is on the deludamol as Rangers fans suffer Hotline breakdown over team heading to oblivion
Russell Martin is on the deludamol as Rangers fans suffer Hotline breakdown over team heading to oblivion Ross Pilcher took your calls and there was some Celtic transfer concern in amongst the Champions League gloating Rangers fans are on the brink of combustion We're not suggesting that every Rangers fan who left Ibrox after 20 minutes on Tuesday night do so to let the Hotline know how raging they were. But some of them might have. The manner of the 3-1 drubbing by Club Brugge seems to have confirmed many of the fears shared when Russell Martin was handed the reins, and the consensus among the regulars is that his time is already up. Scott Gowers, Edinburgh, emailed: "As a Rangers fan I honestly don't think they'll make the top six this season. I have seen both male and female school teams better organised than Martin can organise Rangers. It's clear and obvious at this early stage that Martin is not a manager going places and given more time I think he will take Rangers to oblivion. Get rid now and I'm one that likes to give managers time but on this occasion the 49er's can't really afford to." Andrew Adams, Kirkcaldy, reckons Martin is detached from reality but doesn't blame him. He said: "Russell Martin is deluded, he has to be, granted, it was better second half, but only because Brugge took their foot off the gas. He said it will get better, well he's got that right, it can't get any worse. He's got three games coming up, they're all losable. If that happens, he's a goner, that's a pain he'll have to put up with." Philip Borland wants him gone. He emailed: "It's really time for Russell Martin to be sacked. I said on the hotline the other day that there was no way we would beat Club Brugge with any of the players we have got and we could say goodbye to the Champions League. I was right, our team is garbage and Russell Martin's style of play is also garbage. We will never win a league or a trophy with the players we have got, there is no chance we will beat Celtic on the 31st." Scott Menzies feels the same, adding: "The new owners of the club have made a big mistake with this guy. The fans said when he was appointed he played slow, unattractive boring football. They have to admit they were wrong before this gets worse. For the love of God get rid of this idiot." Article continues below Frank Jackson has made good on his pre-season promise: "Days before the Martin appointment I stated on Hotline that if he was given the job I would not be renewing my season ticket. First one was bought in 1955. After last night's shambles everyone can see why. Guy has to go NOW. Club still in disarray. Numpties picking up thousands a week and then have the gall to applaud us!!! .Brassed necked third rate EFL flops." Empty seats during a night to forget Stephen Johnstone, Ardentinny, reckons Russ could be about to break an unwanted record. He predicted: "Rangers are in free fall Brugge/cruise control after their horror show in the Champions League qualifier, leaving Russell Martin the next two games in charge to save his job by beating Brugge and then Celtic. But the damage is done and Russell will go into Rangers History book as the shortest reign as manager." However, not everyone is keen for the club to pull the trigger. Gary Stevenson, Newtonhill, is prepared to put up with some pain: "Probably expect plenty criticism on last night's performance and probably deserved. However if you change out an entire eleven getting them to gel was always going to be a problem. "Rangers have made some good signings and in time I am confident that good times are coming back. Time has not been afforded to previous Rangers managers However given the money we have spent the supporters will need to buckle in for some rough days. " Of course, Celtic fans were never going to miss an opportunity to put the boot in ahead of their own playoff clash tonight. Steve McSherry, Uddingston, asaid: "What a mismatch Rangers v Club Brugge was. Total humiliation for Scotland's third best club. Rangers have embarrassed Scottish football once again and can now look forward to getting humiliated again this time in The Europa League." Stringology McHugh emailed: "I think Rangers should get rid of the turnstiles and get revolving doors fitted to make it easier for the fans to get out after 15 minutes of having to watch their team. Their manager might need one too very soon!" Kenny Wilson, Moffat, added: Once again Rangers fail the first time they meet a decent team in the big boys league. And to think they constantly slag Celtic's form in the Champions League. But it wasn't a totally wasted night their fire drill after 20 mins was pretty successful." Jamie Vardy has been namechecked a number of times with regards to Celtic's summer striker hunt It's not all fun and games across Glasgow though, with the club's apparent return to bad transfer habits of old causing concern. Paul Price, Glasgow, warned: "If Celtic decide Jamie Vardy is the answer to a much needed striker, then we are in for another uneventful trip into European football and a painful slog through the league! "Neil Lennon was thrown under the bus for the debacle going for 10 in a row. Yet Peter Laweell is welcomed back ( who I lay the blame with - for his ignorance) yet here he is back and the same scenario regarding getting quality players in over quantity raises its ugly head once again !! Speak up or kindly move on Peter !!!" Article continues below Stephen Mulhern, Dumbarton, doesn't see Jamie Vardy as the answer: "Celtic should be bringing in a much needed striker whose best days are in front of him and not behind him. And with the rumours of Jamie Vardys arrival gathering pace I stand by my comment on Saturday's hotline that it smacks of desperation if it happens. "Selling copious amounts of shirts with his name on and for sentimental reasons for rejoining Rodgers isn't a valid enough reason. And I'd have liked Bojan Miovski brought in who would be an excellent acquisition."

'Everybody is fearful of making mistake' - what the pundits said
Former Rangers striker Billy Dodds: "Max Aarons has to show improvement. There's a few that have to be better if they're going to be successful at a club like Rangers."The recruitment of the 10 new players is meant to make things better and I think they will improve, but it remains to be seen if they're any better than the players who were here before."BBC Scotland's chief sport writer Tom English: "I think Martin used the word brilliantly at least three times, they were 3-0 down after 20 minutes so there's nothing really brilliant about it."He did say the precursor to progress is pain, I think that's true but there's only so much pain you can suffer at clubs like this before serious questions are asked of you and your philosophy."He can't keep going like these. These kinds of press conferences are really going to anger people if he's going to continue to do them. He needs to back his words up with results.""This wasn't brilliant, this was 3-0 after 20 minutes and a pretty bleak night."Former Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor: "Why does it take going behind to get the enthusiasm and start going forward. Why can't Rangers do that from the start?"It seems at the start everybody is a bit fearful of making a mistake. Rangers need to start on the front foot and make this place a fortress."Former Rangers striker Steven Thompson: "Rangers have shown they can hurt teams, but unless they sort the defending, this will keep happening. I don't think they have it in them to go there and get a clean sheet and that's what they need."Former Rangers midfielder Scott Arfield: "Rangers were off it and they were punished. Brugge came here to try and dampen the crowd, and next week when we go there we need to do the same."
