"I never thought I would be holding this trophy," Spaun said. "I'm proud I've been so resilient in my career."
Trailing for much of the final round, Spaun mounted a stunning comeback as US Open leaders Sam Burns and Australia's Adam Scott faltered down the stretch.
Spaun, who became the first US Open champion to bogey the first three holes of his final round, rallied with four birdies over the last seven holes.
He drained a 40-foot birdie putt at the par-five 12th, followed by a 22-footer at the 14th. After a setback with a bogey at 15, he responded with a crucial tap-in birdie at 17 before sealing the victory with a dramatic 65-foot birdie bomb on the 18th.

"When I hit it I thought it was short," Spaun said. "But about eight feet out it was looking pretty good.
"It's just one of those moments in major championships when you seal the deal."
Spaun claimed the biggest win of his career, taking home the $4.3 million top prize after an emotional finish at Oakmont. Spaun, whose only previous
PGA Tour
win came at the 2022 Texas Open, wiped away tears as fans chanted his name following his clutch 65-foot birdie putt on the 18th green.
A 96-minute weather delay before the back nine proved pivotal, giving Spaun time to regroup before launching a late charge. Meanwhile, Sam Burns collapsed with a five-over start through 12 holes, opening the door for a crowded leaderboard.

Spain's Jon Rahm closed with three straight birdies to shoot 67 and finish at 284, tied for seventh with Burns and World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler.
Rory McIlroy
, fresh off his Masters triumph, carded a 67 to finish on 287 as he now sets his sights on next month's Open Championship at Royal Portrush.

ATP Rankings — Fritz leapfrogs Djokovic in latest standings; Sinner tops, Alcaraz second

Taylor Fritz, who beat Alexander Zverev in the final at Stuttgart at the weekend to make a strong start to the grass court season, reclaimed his place in the top four in the ATP rankings on Monday. The 27-year-old American returned to his highest ranking of 4, which he reached last November but lost during the clay court season in which he won just three matches in four tournaments. Fritz lost in the first round of the French Open last month to Daniel Altmaier as he slipped down to seventh. He now trails only the unchanged top trio of Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz and Zverev. Jack Draper drops two to sixth while Lorenzo Musetti, who did not play last week, falls to seventh. Another American Ben Shelton enters the Top 10 for the first time in his career after reaching the semi-finals in Stuttgart. ATP rankings 1. Jannik Sinner (ITA) 10,880 points 2. Texas QB Arch Manning goes viral after casually pulling up to a St. Louis neighborhood fans are calling 'the trenches'

Image via Getty images If you logged onto Twitter this weekend and saw Arch Manning trending, it wasn't for a game-winning throw or some NIL stunt, it was because he pulled up deep in a St. Louis neighborhood, posed for photos with local kids, and instantly became the internet's new favorite quarterback. No big cameras. No security swarm. Just Arch, looking like he wandered off the Texas team bus and into what some Twitter users jokingly dubbed 'the trenches.' And yes, the timeline had a lot to say. Fans couldn't believe Arch Manning really stepped foot on 'Greer' The moment started going viral after a photo of Arch with a couple of young fans. But it truly took off when people from St. Louis realized exactly where he was, 'Greer'. One user straight-up said, 'On GREER?!' while another added, 'Ain't no way Ryan took him on the south side 😂😂😂.' Cue the chaos. Some fans assumed Arch had wandered into the "hood" and were shocked he looked so calm. But others quickly pushed back with, 'Black neighborhood ≠ trenches,' and 'Fun fact, not every Black neighborhood is the ghetto.' 'Arch is for the children' becomes the internet's new rally cry Through all the jokes and memes, one line stood out: 'Arch is for the children.' Whether he realized it or not, Manning made a big impression on young fans just by showing up and being chill. No ego, no flash, just a dude with quarterback talent, taking pics like it's no big deal. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo It was a refreshing break from the usual college football image. For a guy with the Manning name, he looked more like someone's cool cousin than a blue-chip recruit and that's exactly why fans loved it. Turns out, Arch wasn't just wandering through STL for fun. He and his Texas teammates including DeAndre Moore Jr. and Ryan Wingo were in town for a youth football camp, giving kids a chance to train with real Longhorns. So yeah, the viral photo was just a bonus. The camp was a hit, and it showed that Arch isn't just showing up for headlines, he's showing up to actually be there for the next generation. The Mannings have always been football royalty, but this weekend, Arch reminded us he's making his own path and it starts in the neighborhoods, not just on ESPN. Whether it was 'the trenches,' the 'Black side,' or just another street in St. Louis, one thing's clear: Arch showed up, showed love, and didn't flinch.
