dedicated 35 PM SHRI schools in the state to the nation, including PM SHRI Govt Model Primary School, Amargol, Hubballi Rural, in Delhi on Tuesday.
The school was dedicated through a virtual programme to commemorate five years of NEP 2020.
Addressing the event, HDMC Mayor Jyothi Patil said that education provides a platform for every success and achievement. Primary education should form a solid foundation for life for the children. The various programmes launched under the PM SHRI Yojana to provide education through modern technology are of utmost importance.
The education system is changing, and many policies were brought in for the children, she said.
Girish Padaki, DDPI at the commissioner's office, Dharwad, said that SSLC results should be improved. Under the guidance of deputy commissioner Divya Prabhu, Mission Vidya Shakti was launched. This programme should be implemented effectively in schools. Children should concentrate on both Kannada and English. All govt programmes brought for the development of children should be implemented in schools effectively, he said.
Former corporator Ajjappa Horakeri, school headmaster LL Kesari, and others were present.
PM SHRI govt model school in Amargol, established in 1865, underwent a major transformation into a hi-tech model institution under the PM SHRI Yojane and was dedicated to the nation, demonstrating all saturation components.
Demands
Former corporator Ajjappa Horakeri and the school development and monitoring committee (SDMC) demanded grants for the construction of six school rooms to conduct classes and toilet rooms.
SDMC president Manjunath Soogi said six classrooms were in a dilapidated condition and needed to be demolished. In this regard, PWD instructed the demolition. He demanded that the classrooms be demolished and grants be sanctioned for the construction of classrooms for smooth education.
Hubballi Rural block education officer (BEO) Umesh Bammakkanavar told TOI that they requested HDMC to make arrangements for the cleaning of school toilets under its limit, as the department is facing problems in maintaining the toilets. Grants for the maintenance of the school are very limited. If HDMC takes this responsibility, then the school grants will be saved, he said.
Speaking to TOI, the HDMC mayor, Jyothi Patil, said that the school management demanded toilet rooms for the schools. Toilet rooms will be provided. The HDMC is planning for waterless urinals. This can be extended to school, she added.

Aug 2 (Reuters) - A federal appeals court late on Friday affirmed a lower court's decision temporarily barring U.S. government agents from making immigration-related arrests in Los Angeles without probable cause. Rejecting the Trump administration's request to pause the lower court's order, the three-judge appeals panel ruled that the plaintiffs would likely be able to prove that federal agents had carried out arrests based on peoples' appearance, language and where they lived or worked. President Donald Trump called National Guard troops and U.S. Marines into Los Angeles in June in response to protests against the immigration raids, marking an extraordinary use of military force to support civilian police operations within the United States. The city of Los Angeles and other Southern California municipalities joined a lawsuit filed in June by the American Civil Liberties Union accusing federal agents of using unlawful police tactics such as racial profiling to meet immigration arrest quotas set by the administration. A California judge last month blocked the Trump administration from racially profiling immigrants as it seeks deportation targets and from denying immigrants' right to access to lawyers during their detention. In Friday's unsigned decision, the judges of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit largely rejected the administration's appeal of the temporary restraining order. The judges agreed with the lower court in blocking federal officials from detaining people based solely on "apparent race or ethnicity," speaking Spanish or accented English, or being at locations such as a "bus stop, car wash, tow yard, day laborer pick up site, agricultural site, etc." The Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement did not immediately respond to requests for comment outside business hours. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass called the order a victory for the city. "The Temporary Restraining Order that has been protecting our communities from immigration agents using racial profiling and other illegal tactics when conducting their cruel and aggressive enforcement raids and sweeps will remain in place for now," she said in a statement. US President Donald Trump ordered two nuclear submarines to "appropriate" points to confront Russia as the war of words between him and former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev continues to escalate, spilling over from the digital domain to the real world. Reacting to Mededev's post on Telegram, Trump said on Truth Social, "Based on the highly provocative statements of the Former President of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, who is now the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, I have ordered two Nuclear Submarines to be positioned in the appropriate regions, just in case these foolish and inflammatory statements are more than just that." He added, "Words are very important, and can often lead to unintended consequences. I hope this will not be one of those instances." Trump did not say which submarines were being deployed or where. Their fight started when Mededev posted on X earlier in the week in English that Trump's "each new ultimatum is a threat and a step towards war" between the US and Russia. Mededev, who is now the deputy chair of Russia's National Security Council, made his comments in response to Trump shortening the deadline for a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine from the original 50 days to ten days, which will end next week. Trump said that he would shock Moscow with more sanctions and also impose secondary sanctions on countries that buy energy from it, like India, if there was no end to the war by the deadline. Trump has also said that more sanctions may not have an impact on Russia. Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh willing to take dope test amid drug abuse allegations: Lawyer
Chandigarh: Waris Punjab De chief and Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh , currently lodged in Dibrugarh jail under the National Security Act (NSA), is willing to undergo a dope test , his lawyer said. The statement comes in response to allegations of drug abuse levelled by his own associates, as mentioned in a Punjab Police chargesheet filed in the Ajnala court last month. Advocate Imaan Singh Khara, who serves as the legal advisor and chief spokesperson of Akali Dal Waris Punjab De recently met Amritpal in Dibrugarh jail. He told the TOI, "Bhai Sahib (Amritpal Singh) has said that instead of levelling false allegations, Punjab Police may get his dope test done. He has said if Punjab police want, they can come to Dibrugarh to get the test done." Khara added that Amritpal has demanded that once he undergoes a dope test, the political leaders accusing him of drug abuse should also be made to take the test. As per the police chargesheet, Amritpal's two associates, Bhagwant Singh alias and Varinder Singh Fauji, in their disclosure statements recorded before the police, claimed that Amritpal was "hooked on drugs" in Punjab and "consumed them in Assam's Dibrugarh jail too". Khara said, "It took two suitcases of documents weighing around 25 kg, which I brought from Dibrugarh jail, to prepare the grounds for the writ petition to challenge the NSA in the Supreme Court. The documents include challan papers in Hari Nau (Gurpreet Singh) murder case, papers of grounds of detention of NSA, order of detention, and others. The documents are very voluminous and are in both English and Punjabi language. These are single-size printed legal size papers." Khara said Amritpal was very upbeat about "Mission 2027" to prepare for the 2027 Punjab elections "to safeguard the interests of Punjab" and to "make Punjab drug-free."
