Alabama veterinarian clinic will neuter a pet in honor of your ex for Valentine's Day
You have an ex and Valentine's Day is just around the corner. Sure, you could buy yourself a 'World's Worst Ex' shirt or mug with black roses, a cracked heart, and his or her photo on it. If you don't burn or smash it, odds are it'll sit around your house collecting dust until you finally throw it away.
Or you could do something that's both funny and useful for the small business community, and get a unique keepsake.
In honor of February being Spay/Neuter Awareness Month, the Alabama Animal Alliance Spay/Neuter Clinic in Montgomery, Ala. has a fundraiser campaign: 'Neuter Your Ex: Because Some Things Should Never Breed.'
'It's the second year we've done it,' said Rachel Tears, AAASNC's founder and director.
No, this isn't an event you can use to get a personal cat fixed. Tears said it's a fundraiser for the clinic, with tax-deductible donations of $25 requested. If you want to donate more, they'd be grateful.

'For anything that's donated, there can't be goods or services that are given in response,' she said. 'But individuals who make a donation, much like anyone who make a donation to our clinic, receive an acknowledgement card.'
The card the clinic sends will say that a procedure was done in honor of your ex, whoever that may be. Your ex doesn't have to be an ex-romantic person.
'It could be an ex-hairdresser who left you with a bad haircut. It could be an ex-boss,' Tears said.
In fact, it doesn't have to be someone you know personally at all.
'We've even had requests to neuter some elected officials,' Tears said. 'Elon Musk has been a request. Someone has requested that we neuter a cat in honor of (Sean "P Diddy" Combs, the rapper). It's been very comical, and it's raised a lot of awareness.'

You can also donate on behalf of a friend.
'We will send a Happy Valentine's Day card to your friend saying that a cat was neutered in honor of your recent heartbreak,' Tears said.
The clinic is hoping to raise $5,000. Tears said the funds will go toward clinic procedures for cats and dogs, male and female.
'Those funds go to our clinic to help keep costs affordable, so more individuals can have their pets spayed or neutered,' Tears said.
Similar fundraisers are being used at spay and neuter clinics across the nation, Tears said.
Normally, it's $50 to neuter a male cat, and $70 for a female cat. The costs includes surgery, anesthesia, pain medications, antibiotic and a follow-up visit. If your cat isn't current on its rabies vaccination, AAASNC can provide that for $15.
'We already have individuals who have appointments, and those cats are already scheduled to be neutered,' said Tears.
However, Tears said most pet owners the clinic deals with are Medicaid or food stamp recipients who are having pets fixed for $10. The donations are especially helpful to keep providing care for low-income pet owners, Tears said,
'We are going on our 18th year of surgeries, and we've done more than 130,000 surgeries,' she said. 'We know that this works. We've got less animals being handed over to the shelters. Less animals being euthanized.'
There's a reason male cats are the focus of this fundraiser. The goal is to put an end to pet homelessness and unnecessary euthanasia, Tears said.
'Male cats are the most efficient reproducers,' Tears said. 'They can reproduce multiple times a day, day in and day out. Yet, that surgery is the least demanded surgery for our clinic. Most people are focusing on having their females fixed or their male dogs, long before they think about male cats.'

‘I'm Disappointed': Trump Claps Back at Elon for Trashing His Agenda
Elon Musk has been waging a full-throated campaign against Donald Trump's 'big, beautiful' reconciliation bill, calling the keystone of the president's legislative agenda a 'disgusting abomination' while trying to rally senators to oppose it. Trump is not happy. The president responded at length to Musk's opposition to the bill while speaking with reporters in the Oval Office on Thursday, criticizing the former head of his so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), who officially left the administration last week. 'I'm very disappointed in Elon,' Trump said. 'I've helped Elon a lot.' Trump added that Musk didn't have a problem with the bill until after he left the administration, and suggested the world's richest man may have developed a case of so-called Trump Derangement Syndrome. 'He's not the first. People leave my administration, and they love us, and then at some point they miss it so badly,' Trump said. 'Some of them embrace it and some of them actually become hostile. I don't know what it is. It's sort of Trump Derangement Syndrome, I guess they call it. We have it with others. They leave and they wake up in the morning and the glamor is gone and the whole world is different and they become hostile.' Musk escalated his criticism of the bill, which includes massive cuts to social services like Medicaid in order to fund tax cuts for the rich, on Tuesday, writing on X that the 'massive, outrageous, pork-filled congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination.' Musk seems to be upset that the bill is expected to add trillions to the national deficit, although some, including House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), have wondered whether he is actually upset that the bill will strip electric vehicle tax credits, which have helped his car company, Tesla. Trump made the allegation himself on Thursday. 'Elon knew the inner workings of this bill better than almost anybody sitting here,' the president said, adding that 'he only developed the problem when he found out that we're going to have to cut the EV mandate,' he said of Musk. Musk responded to Trump in real time on X. 'False, this bill was never shown to me even once and was passed in the dead of night so fast that almost no one in Congress could even read it!' he wrote. 'Whatever,' Musk added. 'Keep the EV/solar incentive cuts in the bill, even though no oil & gas subsidies are touched (very unfair!!), but ditch the MOUNTAIN of DISGUSTING PORK in the bill. In the entire history of civilization, there has never been legislation that both big and beautiful. Everyone knows this! Either you get a big and ugly bill or a slim and beautiful bill. Slim and beautiful is the way.' It's safe to say now that Trump and Musk are in a full-fledged feud, one that follows plenty of speculation about the true nature of their relationship. The duo lauded each other less than a week ago as Trump bid Musk farewell from the administration during a press conference in the Oval Office. 'Elon's service to America has been without comparison in modern history,' Trump said, noting that he is 'really not leaving.' Trump's tune now seems to have changed, as it does. 'Elon and I had a great relationship,' he said Thursday. 'I don't know if we will anymore.' 'The Life of Chuck' review: Soulful Stephen King movie is 2025's best so far Show Caption Hide Caption 'The Life of Chuck': Tom Hiddleston headlines Stephen King movie Based on a Stephen King novella, "The Life of Chuck" chronicles the life of accountant Charles Krantz (Tom Hiddleston) in three acts told in reverse. 'The Life of Chuck' doesn't have any demonic clowns, killer pets or telekinetic kids. It's also, in its own way, the most amazing story Stephen King ever told, a brilliant novella that begins at the end of the world and winds up in a haunted attic. Fortunately, 'Chuck' (★★★★ out of four; rated R; in select theaters June 6, nationwide June 13) is made by a filmmaker who gets King like none other. Writer/director Mike Flanagan ('Doctor Sleep,' 'Gerald's Game') captures the uplifting and bittersweet qualities of King's prose and brings his own gift for character depth to the story of Charles Krantz, played by four talented thespians (including Tom Hiddleston). Flanagan, also to his credit, goes all in on the legendary author's unconventional storytelling, a lifetime that unfurls in three acts and in reverse. Join our Watch Party! He's making his way through pointless parent-teacher conferences even as the end times have arrived – the Internet's down, the world's falling apart, etc. – and people are dealing in whatever ways they can. Some walk around like zombies waiting for the sky to fall (literally or figuratively), and people go to jobs though there's nothing for them to do. What really weirds Marty out, though, is the strange billboards emblazoned '39 great years! Thanks Chuck!' and the image of Chuck at his desk with a cup of coffee. Marty reaches out to his nurse ex-wife Felicia (Karen Gillan), who's also at a loss about what the deal is with this Chuck guy, and they reconnect as everything grows dark around them. We finally meet the mysterious Chuck in the rousing second act, with a sequence straight out of 'La La Land.' Our man is an accountant skipping out on a day of work who winds up in a busy square and, inexplicably, begins to dance to the beat of a drumming busker. Chuck enlists the help of a young woman named Janice (Annalise Basso) and they enjoy a crowd cheering to the exhilaration of their samba- and swing-fueled moves. But the Capraesque third act is where the movie finally reveals itself, as Cody Flanagan, Benjamin Pajak and Jacob Tremblay play Chuck in various stages as a kid navigating joy, tragedy and a child-like understanding of a bigger picture. This part of the story also employs some smooth moves – including Michael Jackson's moonwalk – as well as some deeper thoughts courtesy of Chuck's lovably crusty grandpa Albie, played by Mark Hamill. Sure, he's forever Luke Skywalker, but Albie is just as much a role he was born to play. Narrated in folksy style by Nick Offerman, the movie features a deep bench of supporting actors, many from the regular troupe Flanagan has employed for movies and Netflix horror shows such as 'Midnight Mass.' Kate Siegel has a pivotal role as Chuck's English teacher, while Matthew Lillard and Carl Lumbly shine in small but poignant parts amid an impending apocalypse. All the Chucks are spot on as well: Hiddleston is a magnetic Everyman, even in limited screen time as the lead of the movie, and young Pajak notches a star-making turn opposite Hamill. What is 'The Life of Chuck' about? Every member of the cast contributes in a small way to the collective beauty of the soulful film's themes, its exploration of humanity and grand existential questions. Who do you want by your side when it all ends? What happens if you choose practicality over creativity? Do you make the most of every moment of your life? It's a thought-provoking, big-hearted effort where you can see Chuck as one ordinary guy or a reflection of the multitudes contained within us all. Flanagan juggles a variety of moods and emotions throughout, so even if they seem disparate alone, they all make sense in context. There's impending doom, buoyant revelry, intimate drama, coming-of-age wonder and, yes, even some unnerving terror. (We are dealing with the author of "It" and "The Shining," so it can't all be puppies and rainbows.) If you want to go for the really scary stuff, there are plenty of other King movies for that. 'Chuck' instead is something truly special, a moving fantasy of a life well lived and no dance step left untaken.
