Les Snead reveals his favorite trade as Rams' GM

Les Snead reveals his favorite trade as Rams' GM Les Snead has been a part of a lot of trades since he took over as the Los Angeles Rams' general manager in 2012. Some of them helped turn the Rams into perennial contenders, while other smaller deals didn't amount to much. But throughout his 13 seasons with the team, Snead says his favorite trade was the first one he did in 2012 when the Rams traded away the No. 2 overall pick in the draft to Washington, who took Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III with the pick. In return, the Rams received three first-round draft picks and a second-round pick. "To be a rookie GM and be a part of pulling that off," Snead told CBS Sports' Ryan Wilson and ex-Titans GM Ran Carthon, "that shows you there's a lot of luck in this." While the Rams only got four picks from Washington, they parlayed them into eight players by the end: DT Michael Brockers, CB Janoris Jenkins, RB Isaiah Pead, OL Rokevious Watkins, LB Alec Ogletree, WR Stedman Bailey, RB Zac Stacy and OT Greg Robinson. Some players worked out better than others, but Griffin III didn't really pan out for Washington, either. As Snead says, it's a testament to how hard it is to draft in the NFL. Fortunately for the Rams, Snead and company have figured out a good scouting strategy that has resulted in some awesome players for L.A. in recent years.

Jeffery Simmons returns; no L'Jarius Sneed at Tennessee Titans' minicamp

Jeffery Simmons returns; no L'Jarius Sneed at Tennessee Titans' minicamp The Tennessee Titans are starting their final mandatory minicamp on Tuesday, and have kicked off the sessions with head coach Brian Callahan addressing the media. While he outlined the goals for the three-day session, he also passed on some interesting nuggets. One of the first topics he addressed was one that should make the Titans beat writers in Nashville happy: defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons will practice with the team after skipping out on the voluntary portion of Phase 3 activities. From the outset, Callahan stated his absence was a non-issue, but as happens in media circles, the story grew legs and blossomed into more than it should have. Not only will Simmons be back in the fold, but some of the older veterans on the roster will see an increase in reps during this final set of practices. Veteran free agent acquisitions Kevin Zeitler and Tyler Lockett were specifically mentioned during the media availability and will likely see more reps once the team moves to team periods. One person who will not be participating in the minicamp is cornerback L'Jarius Sneed, who is still nursing the calf/knee injury that forced him to miss most of the 2024 campaign. Callahan stated that the Titans are optimistic that Sneed will be ready to go for training camp and will let the rehab guide him. Other than Sneed, all other members of the Titans should see the field in some capacity during minicamp. These are big steps forward for Treylon Burks, Lloyd Cushenberry, Kalel Mullings, and Kevin Winston Jr., who have all been recovering from injuries throughout the offseason. That's especially important for Cushenberry, who has been working his way back from tearing his Achilles during the 2024 season. Tennessee is counting on him to be ready for the season to anchor their new-look offensive line. Check back for more coverage of the Titans' final minicamp, as Titans Wire continues to break down all of the news and topics coming out of Nashville.

Vikings Trade Idea Sees J.J. McCarthy Joined by Titans' Will Levis

Vikings Trade Idea Sees J.J. McCarthy Joined by Titans' Will Levis originally appeared on Athlon Sports. This season, the Minnesota Vikings venture into the quarterback unknown. According to data gathered from The Football Database, the average number of career starts rostered per team for the upcoming season is 120 -- bolstered by either a proven starter or a veteran backup supporting a rookie-scale QB on each team. Advertisement The Vikings have neither. With just 22 career starts between all four of their quarterbacks, the Vikings have the second-fewest quarterback starts in the NFL, ahead of only the New Orleans Saints. It's J.J. McCarthy or bust for Minnesota this year after the Vikings watched Sam Darnold, Daniel Jones and Nick Mullens depart in free agency. They declined to sign a veteran quarterback in free agency, instead opting to trade for Sam Howell, whose 5-13 record as a starter is far from encouraging. That has led to some outside consultation suggesting that Minnesota should be in the market to improve the quarterback room before the start of the season. Minnesota Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy© Brad Rempel-Imagn Images One trade idea floated by Anne Erickson considered the possibility of the Vikings landing 2023 second-round pick Will Levis. Advertisement While Levis has his blemishes, he has more physical talent than Howell, Brett Rypien or rookie Max Brosmer, prompting Erickson to suggest a Day 2 or Day 3 pick could be enough to pry Levis away from the Tennessee Titans. "The Tennessee Titans made a big move and drafted quarterback Cam Ward No. 1 overall in the 2025 NFL draft, which says a lot," Erickson wrote. "Will Levis isn't happy about it. So, the Tennessee Titans could trade Levis for a late Day 2 or early Day 3 draft selection." While landing Levis for that price could be a stretch, the Titans may be ready to rid themselves of Levis after they fired the man who drafted him, former general manager Ran Carthon. Considering the three first-round picks the San Francisco 49ers invested to get Trey Lance, only to trade him to the Dallas Cowboys for a fourth-rounder, it isn't preposterous to consider the Titans offloading Levis for a similar recoup of draft stock. Advertisement Levis is 5-16 as a starter for a struggling Titans organization and could merely need some quarterback rehab from Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell. While the same argument can be made for Howell, Levis has better physical tools that could offer more upside behind McCarthy. Howell could even be considered for a quarterback swap if both teams deem their prospects need a change of scenery.
