Selangor may withdraw land approval for unused worship sites
This was confirmed by State Local Government and Tourism Committee chairman Datuk Ng Suee Lim during the Selangor State Assembly session.
Ng explained that land reclaimed due to inactivity would be reassigned to other applicants in need.
Since 2008, the Special Committee on Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Sikh, and Taoist Affairs (Limas) has approved 400 land plots for non-Muslim worship centres.
However, failure to construct these facilities within the given period will result in the state reclaiming the land.
The statement came in response to a supplementary question from Lwi Kian Keong (PH-Sungai Pelek), who sought clarification on the state's policy regarding unused worship land. - Bernama

Oil hits two-month low as US, IEA supply guidance weighs

NEW YORK: Oil prices fell to over two-month lows on Wednesday after bearish supply guidance from the US government and the International Energy Agency, while investors eyed US President Donald Trump's threat of "severe consequences" if Russia's Vladimir Putin blocked peace in Ukraine. Brent crude futures settled down 49 cents, or 0.7%, to US$65.63 a barrel. During the session it dropped to US$65.01 a barrel, the lowest since June 6. US West Texas Intermediate crude futures fell 52 cents, or 0.8%, to US$62.65 a barrel. The contract fell to US$61.94 a barrel, the lowest since June 2. US crude stocks rose by 3 million barrels to 426.7 million barrels, the Energy Information Administration said on Wednesday. Analysts in a Reuters poll had expected a 275,000-barrel draw. Net US crude imports rose last week by 699,000 barrels per day, EIA said. "These crude exports remain subpar from what we got used to, falling due to tariff pushback," said John Kilduff, partner at Again Capital in New York, adding continued lower exports could weigh on prices. The International Energy Agency on Wednesday raised its forecast for oil supply growth this year but lowered its demand forecast. Trump is expected to meet with Putin in Alaska on Friday to discuss ending Russia's war in Ukraine, which has shaken oil markets since February 2022. When asked whether Russia would face any consequences if Putin does not agree to stop the war after Friday's meeting, Trump responded on Wednesday: "Yes, they will.' Asked if those consequences would be sanctions or tariffs, Trump told reporters: "I don't have to say, there will be very severe consequences." Trump also said a meeting between the pair could swiftly be followed by a second that included the leader of Ukraine. Meanwhile, in its monthly report on Tuesday, Opec+ raised its global oil demand forecast for next year and trimmed estimates of supply growth from the United States and other producers outside the wider group, pointing to a tighter market. "Were we to take an aggregate of the respective IEA and Opec oil demand growth projections for 2025 at their respective bearish and bullish ends, even a modest middle figure, say just north of 1 million bpd, can easily be serviced by non-OPEC supply growth alone at the moment," said independent energy analyst Gaurav Sharma. 13MP debate descends into shouting match once again over "kafir harbi" remark
KUALA LUMPUR: The Dewan Rakyat debate on the 13th Malaysia Plan was once again thrown into a shouting match this afternoon when an opposition member of parliament called RSN Rayer (PH-Jelutong) "kafir harbi" (non-believers who are against Islam). It all started when Datuk Awang Solahuddin Hashim (PN-Pendang) accused the Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (Mitra) of failing to deliver aid. He claimed that despite RM100 million being allocated for Mitra, "not a single cent" had been released and accused some board members of doing nothing for the Indian community. Following Awang's allegations, Rayer rose and interjected, citing the standing order and accusing him of making a malicious assumption regarding Mitra's allocations. "How does he, or Batu and Segamat, together with Indian MPs and other non-Indian MPs, know that this matter has not been brought to the prime minister's attention? "How does he know the prime minister does not care about this matter? Don't make accusations or malicious assumptions. I don't want to waste time with Pendang... I am fed up with him," he said. The heated exchange between the two continued before being stopped by Syahredzan Johan, who was presiding over the session. Awang later resumed his debate and took a jab at Rayer, saying that Pas had remained calm even when the party was previously labelled "Parti Ajaran Sesat." "They even called Pas 'Parti Ajaran Sesat,' but we stayed calm. One of them is a kafir harbi who called us that. He said it just now in Parliament. But we stayed calm," he said. Tensions escalated further after Chong Zemin (PH-Kampar) interjected in defence of Rayer before being muted by Syahredzan. Syahredzan later instructed Awang to withdraw the "kafir harbi" term, which he did, and the session subsequently resumed.
