IAF officer alleging assault actually started it? Viral video turns tables in Bengaluru road rage case
Indian Air Force Wing Commander Aditya Bose's video of him alleging that he was assaulted by a group of men in Bengaluru, had sent shockwaves across social media. Now, a CCTV footage of the incident has thrown up a new twist in the case.
The footage, which is widely being circulated on social media, shows Wing Commander Aditya Bose and his wife approaching a man in a neon green jacket.
As per the CCTV footage, the officer seemingly initiated the physical assault. His wife was also seen engaging in a verbal abuse.
Earlier in the day, two separate videos circulating on social media showed Wing Commander Aditya Bose alleging that a local resident had attacked him and his wife, Squadron Leader Madhumita, while they were on their way to catch an airport bus. According to Bose, a biker stopped their car and began abusing in Kannada.
With blood visible on his face and neck, the officer recorded a video stating: "A bike came from behind and stopped our car... the guy started abusing me in Kannada. When they saw the DRDO sticker on my car and said 'You DRDO people', and they abused my wife and I couldn't bear it. The moment I got out of my car, the biker hit me with a key on my forehead, and there was blood."
Officer Aditya Bose did not lodge a complaint, but his wife, Madhumita, later lodged one at Baiyappanahalli Police Station. An FIR was filed, and the accused was arrested, stated a report by India Today.
DCP East Devaraj D said the incident was a clear case of road rage.
"At around 6 AM, an altercation occurred between a biker and an IAF officer, who was traveling from his residence at the DRDO quarters to the airport... We have checked the CCTV footage, and it's evident that the incident could have been avoided by both sides. It is a clear case of road rage. We have lodged a complaint and arrested the biker," India Today quoted DCP East Devaraj D as saying.

Film-buff-turned-thief arrested in Chittoor
Chittoor police on Sunday arrested a habitual thief with a passion for the silver screen and recovered stolen property worth ₹18 lakh, which included gold and silver ornaments and a car. The accused identified as N. Anand (39) of Bengaluru was nabbed near Shruti Milk Dairy on the Bengaluru-Chennai Bypass Road when he was moving suspiciously. The arrest was in connection with a theft reported on June 4 at Saravana Jewellers at Jendaman Street under Chittoor corporation limits, where burglars broke open the shop's shutter and decamped with 131.5 grams of gold, 2.57 kg of silver articles, and some cash. Anand confessed to the police that he resorted to theft after his bid to produce a Kannada film 'Keechakudu' in 2020 failed and made him debt-ridden. Later, he produced a short film 'Anand Returns' with the stolen money. The accused is also wanted in 23 cases across Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. Superintendent of Police V.N. Manikantha Chandolu and Deputy SP T. Sainath announced cash rewards to the police personnel who took up the investigation and led the arrest in the case.

‘Everything has been destroyed': Rajasthan man serves tea wearing handcuffs in protest against dowry case
In an unbelievable incident, a Rajasthan man adopted a unique way to protest against a dowry case by opening a tea stall in front of his in-laws' locality in Anta town and serving tea wearing handcuffs, reported India Today. Tea stall owner Krishna Kumar Dhakad's shop name is also unique '498A T Caf', referencing to Section 498A under which his wife had filed a dowry harassment case against him. Posters around Dhakad's tea shop carry slogans like 'Jab tak nahi milta nyay, tab tak ubalti rahegi chai' (Until I get justice, the tea will keep boiling) and 'Aao chai par karein charcha, 125 mein kitna dena padega kharcha'. Dhakad married Meenakshi Malav in 2018. Together, they operated a beekeeping business. In 2022, Malav allegedly left home without warning and returned to her parents' house. After few months, Malav filed cases against Dhakad under IPC Section 498A (dowry harassment) and Section 125 (maintenance). 'Everything has been destroyed because of a false case. For the last three years, I've been wandering from court to court in Anta for justice. I have an old mother who depends on me. I live under a tin shed and have nothing left. Many times I thought of ending my life, but then I remembered I am my mother's only support,' Dhakad told India Today 's sister channel Aaj Tak. He also said: 'I have decided that I will fight this legal battle impartially by selling tea in the very area where I was trapped by misuse of the law.' 'Every time I go to court, all I get is tareekh pe tareekh (adjournment after adjournment). Justice seems nowhere in sight. Now I am tired and have decided to fight this legal war by running a tea stall in Anta,' Dhakad added. According to the media report, Malav alleged, 'He asked for money from my father to buy land. When we refused, he beat me up. I then returned to my father's house. I'm ready for a divorce, but first, all the loans taken in my name must be repaid.'

Thug Life makers slam Karnataka government over threats: No FIR was registered
On Friday, the Supreme Court issued a notice to the Karnataka government, seeking its response to a petition requesting protection against threats targeting the screening of Kamal Haasan's film 'Thug Life'.The makers of Kamal Haasan's film accused the Karnataka government of failing to protect against threats to the film's screening, following backlash over the actor's controversial remarks about the Kannada their petition, they claimed no FIR had been registered despite the threats. As per ANI, advocate A Velan said, "A fringe group issued threats of large-scale violence, including the burning of theatres and attacks against members of the Tamil linguistic minority residing in Karnataka. Despite these open and public threats, not a single FIR was registered, nor was any prosecution initiated by the State Government. On the contrary, the government appeared to adopt the position of the very fringe elements that issued those threats. We are aggrieved by this inaction and are now before the Supreme Court, seeking enforcement of this Court's past directions..."Advocate Navpreet Kaur added, "We approached the Supreme Court after fringe groups issued open threats on social media to burn down theatres screening 'Thug Life', targeting both cinema halls and the Tamil linguistic minority in Karnataka. Despite clear Supreme Court guidelines requiring immediate action against such hate speech, the State took no action -- no FIRs were filed, and no protection was offered.... Instead, under pressure, the Karnataka Film Chamber advised theatres not to release the movie, resulting in a de facto ban.
