‘Everything has been destroyed': Rajasthan man serves tea wearing handcuffs in protest against dowry case
In an unbelievable incident, a Rajasthan man adopted a unique way to protest against a dowry case by opening a tea stall in front of his in-laws' locality in Anta town and serving tea wearing handcuffs, reported India Today.
Tea stall owner Krishna Kumar Dhakad's shop name is also unique '498A T Caf', referencing to Section 498A under which his wife had filed a dowry harassment case against him. Posters around Dhakad's tea shop carry slogans like 'Jab tak nahi milta nyay, tab tak ubalti rahegi chai' (Until I get justice, the tea will keep boiling) and 'Aao chai par karein charcha, 125 mein kitna dena padega kharcha'.
Dhakad married Meenakshi Malav in 2018. Together, they operated a beekeeping business.
In 2022, Malav allegedly left home without warning and returned to her parents' house.
After few months, Malav filed cases against Dhakad under IPC Section 498A (dowry harassment) and Section 125 (maintenance).
'Everything has been destroyed because of a false case. For the last three years, I've been wandering from court to court in Anta for justice. I have an old mother who depends on me. I live under a tin shed and have nothing left. Many times I thought of ending my life, but then I remembered I am my mother's only support,' Dhakad told India Today 's sister channel Aaj Tak.
He also said: 'I have decided that I will fight this legal battle impartially by selling tea in the very area where I was trapped by misuse of the law.'
'Every time I go to court, all I get is tareekh pe tareekh (adjournment after adjournment). Justice seems nowhere in sight. Now I am tired and have decided to fight this legal war by running a tea stall in Anta,' Dhakad added.
According to the media report, Malav alleged, 'He asked for money from my father to buy land. When we refused, he beat me up. I then returned to my father's house. I'm ready for a divorce, but first, all the loans taken in my name must be repaid.'

SC to hear on Monday plea of Amtek Group promoter seeking interim bail
The Supreme Court is slated to hear on Monday a plea of Amtek Group promoter Arvind Dham seeking interim bail in connection with a money laundering case. As per the causelist published on the website of the apex court, a bench of Justices Sandeep Mehta and Prasanna B. Varale will take up the matter for hearing on June 16. Earlier, the Delhi High Court had turned down the prayer to release Dham on interim bail pending the disposal of his regular bail application. Dham's counsel argued that he had been languishing in custody for 11 months, and his regular bail application was pending for adjudication before the Delhi HC since February 2025. Opposing the prayer for interim bail till the disposal of the regular bail application, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had contended that the agency did not seek a single adjournment and there was no ground for the grant of interim bail. The ED referred to the apex court's April 7 decision, which had refused to extend Dham's interim bail on medical grounds. In its order passed on May 30, a bench of Justice Ravinder Dudeja recorded that the regular bail application could not be decided partly because of the reason of change of roster and subsequently because of the filing of the interim bail application on medical grounds, which was dealt on number of dates, and thereafter because of the lengthy arguments on the bail application. "Since the matter is already part-heard on merits, I do not deem it appropriate to grant interim bail to the applicant/accused. However, keeping in view the question of liberty of the applicant/accused being involved, the date is preponed to 15.07.2025," he ordered. The ED initiated an investigation based on the Supreme Court's order on February 27, 2024, while hearing a PIL against Amtek Auto group of companies, which directed the federal anti-money laundering agency to investigate the case involving bank fraud by Amtek Auto Group to the tune of Rs 27,000 crore. The top court expressed concerns regarding the diversion of public money, emphasising the necessity of a comprehensive money laundering investigation by the ED, even if the banks concerned had settled the accounts. Multiple FIRs were lodged by the CBI arising from the complaints by IDBI Bank and the Bank of Maharashtra under various sections of the IPC and the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, on allegations of illegally diverting bank loans by causing wrongful loss to the banks. In the course of the investigation, the ED provisionally attached movable and immovable properties valued at Rs 557.49 crore under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The probe revealed that the financial statements of group companies were deceitfully manipulated to obtain additional fraudulent loans and create bogus assets and investments in the books of accounts. The ED had earlier conducted searches at more than 40 locations and subsequently arrested Dham and filed a prosecution complaint on September 6, 2024.

Gurugram school murder: Cops summoned for ‘framing' bus conductor
Gurugram: A special CBI court in Panchkula has summoned four Haryana Police officers accused of tampering with evidence and falsely implicating a school bus conductor in the 2017 murder of a seven-year-old boy inside a school toilet in Gurugram's Bhondsi. The CBI court has directed all four accused — then DSP Birem Singh, inspector Narinder Singh Khatana, sub-inspector Shamsher Singh and executive sub-inspector Subhash Chand— to appear on July 15, officials aware of the matter said. Eight years after the murder of the child, the CBI court has summoned the four accused officers following a petition filed by the victim's father, highlighting the prolonged delay in action against them and urging swift judicial intervention. The four police officials face serious charges under IPC sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), 166A (disobeying legal direction), 167 (framing incorrect document), 194 (fabricating evidence to procure conviction of a capital offence), 330 (torture to extort confession), and 506 (criminal intimidation). The order was passed by Special Judicial Magistrate Anil Kumar Yadav. The incident occurred on September 8, 2017, when the body of the Class II student—referred to as Prince to protect his identity— was discovered in a toilet in the school with his throat slit. Within hours, the Haryana Police arrested Ashok Kumar, a school bus conductor, claiming he had confessed to the crime. The arrest was met with massive public outrage, especially after glaring inconsistencies surfaced in the investigation. Days later, the probe was handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which later apprehended a Class XI student from the same school—referred to as Bholu—for the murder. Kumar was acquitted on February 28, 2018, by a special court. He recalled the trauma that continues to haunt him. 'I was tortured, beaten, hung upside down, and had my head submerged in water by the police just to force a confession,' he said. 'I was innocent, yet they paraded me before the media, ruined my reputation, and humiliated me in front of my family. Even now, I struggle to find work. I was framed to protect the real accused. I want to see all four officers behind bars,' he said. Kumar had earlier rejected a compensation of ₹1 lakh offered by the Gurugram Police in May 2019, calling it 'an insult' to the trauma he and his family endured. 'That money cannot erase what I went through. It was never about money—it is about dignity and accountability,' he said. The child's father, who moved the latest application leading to the summons, expressed satisfaction over the court's order. 'It is a step closer to truth and justice. Those who tried to bury the truth must face the law,' he said. The court also dismissed the Haryana home department's claim that sanction was needed to prosecute the officers, stating that acts like fabricating evidence to implicate an innocent man cannot be passed off as 'official duty' under Section 197 of the CrPC. The summons will be served using email and WhatsApp, to ensure the accused appear before the court without further delay. The court said there is incriminating material on the file collected by CBI and all the documents allegedly showing involvement of the conductor, have been fabricated with the intention of implicating him falsely. 'It becomes clear that these accused have misused their official position under the colour of their official duty and they have committed serious offences that is why CBI, the premier investigating agency of our country has filed a charge-sheet against these accused under section 120B read with section 166A, 167, 330 and 506 of IPC and substantive offences thereof,' read the order. Meanwhile, the victim's counsel Sushil Tekriwal said, 'The most brutish, barbaric, cruel and diabolic acts commissioned by the four senior police officers are prima facie construed to be extra-judicial acts. They will now face sentence up to life if convicted. The pedestal of substantial justice can never be denied though delayed. The acts of police force was also gruesome to the extent that they all jointly and collectively and knowingly were not only fabricating the evidence, preparing false and incorrect documents with an intention and knowledge to falsely implicate an innocent as an accused without any evidence but were planting evidence for the said purpose, and writing case documents and case diaries at the subsequent stage and without physical presence but in back date corroborated by CDR locations.' The development comes more than three years after the CBI filed its supplementary charge sheet on January 6, 2021, but the case remained stalled due to lack of prosecution sanction. The CBI had accused the officers of collusion and procedural misconduct during the initial investigation in 2017.

2 get life in jail for murder of kin over dispute at feast
Lucknow: A special Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) court here on Saturday sentenced Manoj Verma (35) and Anubhav Verma alias Abhinav alias Digambar Verma (27) to life imprisonment for the 2019 murder of their relative Shiv Kumar. They beat him to death after a quarrel during a family feast in Ibrahimpur. Judge Ramvilas Singh also levied a fine of Rs 50,000 on each convict; failure to pay will result in an additional four months' simple imprisonment. The duo were convicted under IPC Section 302 (murder) of the IPC and Section 3(2)(v) of the SC/ST (PoA) Act, which prescribes enhanced penalties for crimes committed against Dalits. Special Public Prosecutor, Sudip Mishra, told TOI that according to the FIR filed by Anshu Lata of Qazipur village, a 'bahu bhoj' (post-wedding banquet) was hosted at her home on May 3, 2019. During the meal, the accused verbally abused Shiv Kumar—allegedly using casteist slurs—after complaining the food was cold. Witnesses told police the duo threatened to "settle scores later." Around 11 pm the same night, as Shiv Kumar was cycling home, Manoj and Anubhav intercepted him near a canal bridge outside Qazipur. They bludgeoned him with sticks and fled. His body was discovered at first light in a nearby field belonging to a local farmer. FIR was registered at Ibrahimpur police station for murder and atrocity offences. "A charge sheet was filed on May 24, 2019; charges were formally framed on Oct 22, 2021. During trial, the prosecution examined 12 witnesses, including complainant Anshu Lata, eyewitness Amit Kumar, investigating officers, and autopsy surgeon Dr Pradeep Kumar Singh, whose testimony corroborated the fatal assault," said Mishra. Judge Singh, in a detailed 47-page order, held the attack was premeditated, motivated by caste animus and proven "beyond all reasonable doubt." He directed that Rs 40,000 from each convict's fine be paid as compensation to Shiv Kumar's next of kin, elaborated Mishra. Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here .
