David Mamet Compares Democratic Party to Families Who Deny They Have Pedophile Fathers
Mamet said 'everything in the Democrats' playbook' is about denying reality, 'which takes all of a person's mental energy.' He said it's 'no different' than a dysfunctional family that cannot acknowledge reality.
'If you have a family and dad is a pedophile, the problem is not that dad is a pedophile, but the problem for everyone in the family is they have to deny that dad is a pedophile,' Mamet said. 'Because if they face it, the family as they know it is going to fall apart, and they don't know what comes next.'
He added: 'That's horrific. It's legitimate, but it's horrific. That's where Democrats are now.'

One example of Democrats denying reality, Mamet said, is the party's embrace of trans men playing in women's sports. He also said Democrats have alienated young men by demonizing traditional gender roles.
'One of the things men are raised to do is protect women,' Mamet said. 'It's one of the great joys of being a man.'
He added that another issue he has with Democrats was seeing the Biden Administration 'turn its back' on American Jews and Israel.
The veteran writer won the Pulitzer Prize for creating 'Glengarry Glen Ross' in the early '80s; he later adapted the play into a 1992 film and wrote several other notable screenplays, including 'The Untouchables.' His other well-known plays include 'Oleanna,' 'American Buffalo' and 'Race.'
Mamet was on Fox News to promote his new book, 'The Disenlightenment.' A day earlier, he was on Bill Maher's 'Club Random' podcast, where he also voiced his displeasure with the Democratic party.

Texas Hold 'em: Gov. Abbott threatens legal action for absent Dems
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott threatened more than 50 Democrats with legal action and removal from the state legislature after the lawmakers fled the Lone Star State en masse Aug. 3 amid a heated redistricting battle. At President Donald Trump's urging, Texas Republicans have proposed a revised congressional map that could give the party a leg up in next year's midterm elections and the ability to flip as many as five U.S. House seats. Democrats in the state, limited by their minority position, employed one of their few viable methods of protest by leaving Texas to break necessary quorum. Many traveled to Illinois, greeted by Democratic Gov. J.B. Pritzker, while other, smaller groups landed in Boston, Massachusetts and Albany, New York. In a memo late Sunday evening, Abbott said he would expel any Democrat who was not back in Austin by the time the legislature reconvened Aug. 4 at 3 p.m. CT. "Democrats hatched a deliberate plan not to show up for work, for the specific purpose of abdicating the duties of their office and thwarting the chamber's business," the governor wrote. "That amounts to an abandonment or forfeiture of an elected state office." Abbott based his ultimatum on a 2021 nonbinding opinion from Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. In it, Paxton asserts that district courts could rule to remove a lawmaker who has left in order to break quorum, leaving a vacancy that Abbott would then be able to fill. The absent Democrats are already facing consequences in the form of a $500 per day fine for being out of state. The penalty was put in place after state Democrats in 2021 fled in order to protest new voting restrictions and halted operations for 38 days. Deep-pocketed donors and officials on the left − including Pritzker, a billionaire, and Rep. Jasmine Crockett, a congressional Texan and star fundraiser − have offered to assist Texas Democrats. Abbott, in his note, accused the state lawmakers of violating bribery laws by accepting the support. "In addition to abandoning their offices, these legislators may also have committed felonies," Abbott wrote. "I will use my full extradition authority to demand the return to Texas of any potential out-of-state felons." Texas Democrats say they are not deterred by the governor's warnings. At a press conference with New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, state Rep. Jolanda Jones, a Democrat from Houston and an attorney, said Abbott was "making up" a threat he could not follow through on. "He's going to come get us how?" Jones added. "Let me be clear − he's putting up smoke and mirrors." GOP senator says FBI will help track down Texas Democrats who fled state
WASHINGTON - Sen. John Cornyn said FBI Director Kash Patel accepted his request for federal officers to work with Texas state law enforcement in tracking down the Democratic lawmakers who fled the Lone Star State to try to block Republicans' redistricting efforts. Cornyn, a Texas Republican, had sent a letter to Patel on Aug. 5 with his request, noting that "in a representative democracy, we resolve our differences by debating and voting, not by running away." More than 50 Texas Democrats left their state on Aug. 3 in order to deny Republicans the quorum they need to move ahead with their plan to carry out an unusual mid-decade redistricting. The effort could give Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives up to five more seats in the 2026 midterms. The legislators fled to blue states, including Illinois, Massachusetts and New York. Cornyn had noted in his letter there are only about two weeks left in Texas legislature's special session, called by Republican Gov. Greg Abbott. "I am proud to announce that Director Kash Patel has approved my request for the FBI to assist state and local law enforcement in locating runaway Texas House Democrats," Cornyn said in a statement on Aug. 7. "I thank President Trump and Director Patel for supporting and swiftly acting on my call for the federal government to hold these supposed lawmakers accountable for fleeing Texas. We cannot allow these rogue legislators to avoid their constitutional responsibilities." House Minority Leader Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, D-New York, fired back on X. "Shouldn't the FBI be tracking down terrorists, drug traffickers and child predators? The Trump administration continues to weaponize law enforcement to target political adversaries. These extremists don't give a damn about public safety. We will not be intimidated," he wrote. Cornyn, who has served in the Senate since 2002, is heading toward a tough 2026 Republican primary against the state's attorney general, Ken Paxton.
