JAMIE XX Announces 10th Anniversary Edition Of In Colour Album
Originally released on 29th May 2015, In Colour quickly established itself as a modern classic - a kaleidoscopic journey through UK dance culture that continues to resonate with fans and critics alike. It received widespread acclaim upon its release: Pitchfork awarded it Best New Music, hailing it as 'a dazzling and deeply emotive record that reimagines the club as a space of memory, euphoria, and introspection.' Rolling Stone praised its 'masterful blending of genres and eras,' Mixmag crowned it their best album of 2015, while NME called it 'a modern masterpiece.' The album appeared on countless more year-end and decade-end best-of lists, cementing its status as one of the most important electronic releases of the 2010s.
Featuring standout tracks like ' Loud Places ' (featuring Romy), ' Gosh,' (with its epic Romain Gavras-directed music video) and ' I Know There's Gonna Be (Good Times) '(featuring Young Thug and Popcaan), In Colour struck a rare balance between underground credibility and crossover appeal. It earned Jamie xx multiple GRAMMY, Brit and Ivor Novello Award nominations alongside a shortlist for the 2016 Mercury Music Prize. A decade later, In Colour endures not only for its production brilliance but also for the emotional depth it brought to the dancefloor – a record that transformed a personal love letter to UK club culture into a global, generation-defining statement.
To mark the anniversary, Jamie joined BBC 6Music 's Nick Grimshaw yesterday for a special 10 Years Of In Colour show and a wide-ranging new interview that covered the inception, making of and response to In Colour. The BBC have also shared an exclusive Jamie xx Archive Collection of interviews and sessions from over the years, which are available to watch and listen back to here
Meanwhile, Jamie xx's hotly-anticipated follow-up album In Waves was released on 20th September 2024 via Young, debuting at number 5 in the UK albums chart. It features an incredible list of collaborators including Honey Dijon, John Glacier, Panda Bear, The Avalanches, Robyn, Oona Doherty and his The xx bandmates Oliver Sim and Romy, reunited as a trio on record for the first time since 2017's I See You album. In a run of rapturous reviews, the album was described by NME as 'immaculate', Clash as 'a masterpiece' and Rolling Stone UK as 'an album that reaches for – and achieves – pure euphoria'. Arriving nine years on In Colour, the album sees Jamie replicating the emotional crescendos and thrilling volatility of an almost mystical night out. Created over a four-year period ushered in by his much-loved 2020 Essential Mix, and peppered with periods of self-reflection, a global pandemic, the blinking reemergence into the strobe light, and a newly discovered love of surfing-as-escapism, it's an album that's on course to match the heights of its globally-acclaimed predecessor.

Man dies after falling at Oasis gig in London
Oasis peforming at an earlier concert. Photo: AFP STRINGER A man in his 40s has died after falling at a Oasis concert at London's Wembley stadium, police say. Brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher, who brought the iconic Britpop band back together for a blockbuster world tour this year, told the BBC they were "shocked and saddened" by the fan's death at the Saturday evening (local time) gig. According to a spokesperson for the London Metropolitan Police, officers and medics were called to the scene after 10pm (2100 GMT) following "reports that a person had been injured" at the packed stadium. "A man -- aged in his 40s -- was found with injuries consistent with a fall. He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene," the spokesperson said, urging any witnesses to come forward. "Our thoughts go out to his family," a spokesperson for Wembley said, while adding that "tonight's Oasis concert will go ahead as planned". Sunday's gig will be Oasis's last London date of the band's 41-gig reunion world tour after 16 years of estrangement between the famously volatile Gallaghers. The tour has sold around 900,000 tickets, with the group heading to Edinburgh next before its international leg takes them to the United States, Japan, Australia and Brazil. - AFP

Press Release – Nyree Huyser Out September 5 All Proceeds Donated to Youth Mental Health Services Acclaimed vocalist Nyree Huyser has teamed up with local drama school, PLAY! Drama Workshops, to release an uplifting new charity single entitled 'Version Of You', available on all streaming platforms from September 5, 2025. With 100% of proceeds going to Youthline NZ, the single aims to raise awareness and support for youth mental health across Aotearoa. ' Version of You ' was born during a transformative holiday workshop led by PLAY! Drama Workshops, a creative space designed to nurture self-expression in young performers. During the workshop, students opened up about themes of self-worth, identity, and mental health before taking a day trip to a local studio to record their vocals. Together with Nyree, the young artists co-created a track that they hope will send positivity and love to their young community. Check out 'Version Of You' right here: 'This song is more than just a melody – it's a message,' says Nyree. 'Working alongside these incredible young performers was so special, it's astonishing to understand the mental struggle so many young people still face today that doesn't necessarily show on the outside. We hope this song reminds every young person listening that they are not alone, that with support things can and will get better.' With soaring vocals and encouraging lyrics, 'Version Of You' captures both the vulnerability and resilience of today's youth. The words are cradled by a beautiful acoustic guitar piece volunteered by renowned Auckland-based guitarist and musical director, Dixon Nacey. The song was recorded, produced and mastered by kiwi podcaster, Stephen Garton, free of charge at his Ashburton-based studio. This entire collaboration shines a spotlight on the importance of open conversation around mental health – a mission that aligns perfectly with the work of Youthline NZ, who have been supporting young Kiwis through counselling, mentoring, and crisis services for over 50 years. 'We're proud to support Youthline through this project,' adds Nickie Tabukovu, founder of PLAY! Drama Workshops. 'Our young performers poured their hearts into this, and we hope it helps spark more conversations in homes, schools, and communities.'
