John Wallace and Caolan Ward, both from Dungloe, were working on the site in Perth on Saturday last when the incident happened.
It is understood the men were working on the site when a vehicle they were using was struck by another large piece of machinery.
Both were rushed to hospital but both are said to be now recovering from their injuries.
However, friends say "they have a long road ahead as they focus on their rehabilitation."
News Catch Up - Thursday 15 May
Mr Wallace and Mr Ward are both from well-known families in the Dungloe area.
Family of both men are now on their way to Australia to be with the young men.
In response to the incident, a friend of the pair has now launched a Go Fund Me page.
Organiser Ryan Connors said all money will go directly to the men's families.
Ryan said: 'Funds raised will go directly towards easing the financial burden that comes with an accident of this scale - including helping family members travel to be with them in Australia, covering accommodation and living expenses, and supporting the lads as they recover and eventually get back on their feet.
'There's no set fundraising target at this point, as the full extent of their recovery needs and associated costs is still unknown. Our focus right now is on ensuring their families can be by their side and that any immediate expenses are covered.'
More than €22,000 has now been raised since the fundraiser was launched just a couple of days ago.
Ryan added 'Every donation, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference and is deeply appreciated by John, Caolan, and their families.'

First picture of 'loving' teenager who died after motorbike plunged into canal
This is the first picture of a 'lovely caring' teenager who died after his motorcycle plunged into a canal in west London. Thinad Agathangelou's body was spotted in the Grand Union Canal in Southall at 11am on Bank holiday Monday. The 19-year-old mechanic had been out for a ride next to the water when he crashed. Police are investigating and believe the incident happened sometime between 3pm on Sunday 25 May and the time he was found the following day. His mother Anna, 53, told Metro: 'He was a lovely caring son who would do anything for anyone. 'I saw him on the Saturday before he died, he came round for dinner. He was his normal self, very helpful and fun to be around. 'He was working in a garage which specialises in converting camper vans. He loved the job and was looking forward to the future. I am heartbroken.' She said she did not know why her son, who lived in Hendon, was in Southall when he died and said she hoped the police investigation would shed more light on the incident. She added: 'As far as I know he didn't have any friends or know anyone in Southall. I have a lot of questions that I hope the investigation can help answer. We are in the dark really. 'He did love bikes starting with bicycles and then motorbikes. They were his passion. How he ended up on the canal we don't know. 'I spoke to the man who found him floating. Apparently, he was wearing his helmet and because of that he came to the surface. 'He was a very bright boy as well and had lots of friends. On the day he came to my house he offered to go to B&Q for me to get some stuff for the garden. He was a loving, thoughtful son.' Flowers and cards have been left on the towpath next to the point where Tommy hit the water. A framed picture of him celebrating his 17th birthday with a cake had also been placed at the scene. One card from his girlfriend says: 'You have no idea how much I love and miss you. 'You were the most perfect person I ever met. I will miss your contagious laugh … I will cherish the moments we had.' The caretaker for housing estate next to the scene said residents were 'deeply shocked'. He told Metro: 'People are very shocked and upset. We just don't know how this could have happened. It's not as if you can ride fast along the towpath as it's narrow.' More Trending A police appeal has been launched for any camera footage covering the stretch of canal where the crash happened. The Met said: 'Between about 3pm on Sunday May 25 and 11am on Monday 26 a man and motorbike have entered the Grand Union Canal behind Carter Court in Southall. 'Sadly, the man was deceased when he was found. Police are appealing for any Ring Doorbell footage or CCTV from around that time.' Meanwhile the teenager's family and friends have set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds to help with funeral costs. Edinburgh man fears new permit parking would mean he 'can't run volunteer group'
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info A devoted Edinburgh local fears plans to introduce permit parking in his neighbourhood means he won't be able to afford his volunteer group. Colin Cornwall set up Keep Porty Tidy around five years ago with the aim of litter picking. After some time he moved onto weeding before taking it upon himself to remove the graffiti plaguing the town. However transport chiefs are now consulting plans to introduce Controlled Parking Zones in Porty between 8.30am and 5.30pm Monday to Sunday. Existing CPZs across the city have seen yellow lines and parking places installed - credited with reducing traffic emissions and improving streets. The 69-year-old worried he won't be able to carry on his services due to the everyday costs he already faces. He argues the parking measures are unnecessary. Speaking to Edinburgh Live, Colin said: "I don't get any sponsorships or support from businesses for what I do. I pay for the running of it all including the insurance, tax and petrol. "I was worried because my wife just retired last week so it was an income less for us which was adding to the burden of it all. I didn't think I would be able to carry this on and run the van. "The news came out about the proposed car parking zones and there was a huge outcry of people against the measures. "We have a lovely beach so people flood to Portobello when the sun shines. But if you ask Porty residents - and I have lived here all my life - there isn't a problem for 10 months of the year. "It's only in the height of the summer months that there is a hike in tourists. People here know it will be busy and the parking spaces will be taken but then it stops in the colder months. I just think the measures are a step too far." Thankfully Colin has now managed to raise £2000 through a GoFundMe thanks to the support from locals. He added: "It's amazing how much support I have got in a matter of days - I was lost for words. I didn't think there was that much generosity and I have had so many people sending words of support. "It looks like I can hopefully keep going but there was a real risk for my van and it is still concerning." The consultation for the parking measures closed on May 23 and responses are now being analysed and reported back to elected members. At a public meeting on Tuesday May 20, Transport and Environment Convener, Councillor Stephen Jenkinson said: 'We are seeking views on the CPZ, positive, negative, and neutral. But we reiterated a number of times that the way to engage with the consultation is through the formal process. "To date there have been 1,300 comments and every single one of these comments will be responded to as part of the report that goes to committee. Officers will bring a suite of proposals, which the committee will vote on.' Young boy killed in a car crash on Easter Monday is pictured as friends raise money to help his family
A 13-year-old schoolboy who was killed in a horror crash on Easter Monday has been pictured for the first time. Corey Allport was making a short 15 minute journey on the A25 in Bletchingley, Surrey, with his mother, Charmaine, to pick up his elder sibling when they were involved in a nightmare three-vehicle smash at around 8.10pm. The teen boy was a front seat passenger and was devastatingly pronounced dead at the scene on April 21, while his mother was airlifted to King's College Hospital in London with major injuries. Charmaine, who according to her Facebook page is a nursery nurse, has undergone several operations and was placed in an induced coma, with friends saying her recovery will take 'many months'. Now pals have rallied around the grieving family and paid an emotional tribute to Corey, describing him as the 'kindest soul'. In a GoFundMe page set up to help raise funds for Corey's funeral and to support his father, Richard, and his siblings, a statement reads: 'Corey was a wonderful 13-year-old boy who loved playing on his computer and spending time with his family and friends. 'Corey always had a smile on his face; he was the kindest soul who always made those around him smile too. 'On Easter Monday, 13-year-old Corey joined his Mum, Charlie, for what should have been a short 30-minute round trip to pick up his older brother. Tragically, they never made it. 'On their way, they were involved in a devastating car accident in Godstone. Heartbreakingly, Corey lost his life. 'His Mum, Charlie, sustained major injuries and was airlifted to Kings, where she has undergone several operations and was placed in a medically induced coma to aid her recovery. 'Charlie's path to recovery will be long, taking many months with more operations scheduled. 'Corey's father is trying to cope with the unimaginable death of his young son while supporting their other son, remaining by his wife's side, and planning a funeral no parent should ever have to arrange. 'This GoFundMe aims to provide help and support to the Allport family as they navigate this tragedy. 'The funds will help with funeral expenses not covered, a headstone, a celebration of Corey's young life, hospital travel, and general support as the family works through their immense grief.' At the time of publication, the organisers had raised £5,720 towards a £7,000 target. MailOnline has contacted Surrey Police for an update on the force's investigation into the crash. Two other people required medical treatment, with the driver of a second vehicle left with a hurt arm and a passenger in a third vehicle suffering minor injuries. The A25 was closed for several hours following the crash.
