Chelsea fans toast Conference League trophy but look forward to bigger challenges
After going a goal down, Chelsea quickly asserted themselves and left little doubt by the final whistle that they were the better side, closing the match in Wroclaw with a commanding 4-1 victory over Spanish side Real Betis.
Chelsea are now the first English side to win all four major European trophies, having twice claimed both the UEFA Champions League and the Europa League as well as the now defunct Cup Winners' Cup. They have also won two UEFA Super Cups.
"A trophy always feels good," said lifelong Chelsea fan Martin as he was celebrating in the old town of the Polish city.
"Of course it is a real trophy. We haven't had the best season, but we completed the set, we won everything in Europe there is to win," said another supporter, James.
Still, there were murmurs among the fans about the tournament's lack of prestige and competitiveness.
"During the whole tournament, I did not feel like it was a competition. It was obvious Chelsea was going to win," Chelsea fan Marip said.
"Hopefully next year we will get some stronger teams to play against."
"Not really a big thing. We usually win a major trophy," said a 10-year-old Chelsea supporter from London.
Though there were differing views, all agreed that the club is on an upward trajectory.
"I hope we get more interesting players in the transfer window, but we are in good shape for what comes," Marip added.

English trio Aaron Rai, Marco Penge and Harry Hall are also on Donald's radar. Penge, who won the Danish Open last week, and Rai will both be in action at the Belfry while Hall will seek to impress from afar at the Tour Championship. While Donald says the team bond that was evident at the Marco Simone Club two years ago was vital, he is not discounting shaking it up with some rookies. "Having some continuity is good but also having fresh blood, having rookies, that could be good, too. It's not cut and dry," Donald said. "But certainly from a continuity standpoint, they understand how I work. I understand them quite well. "Those are all positives for sure." The Ryder Cup takes place at Bethpage Black Course, Farmingdale, starting on September 26 with the United States aiming to reclaim the trophy after a 16 1/2 - 11 1/2 loss in Italy.

Isak standoff with Newcastle benefits no one, says Shearer
LONDON :The impasse between Alexander Isak and his Premier League club Newcastle United is harming both parties, according to the club's former striker Alan Shearer. Sweden international Isak was the subject of a 110 million pounds ($148.34 million) bid from Liverpool earlier this month according to media reports, and took to social media on Tuesday to accuse Newcastle of breaking promises. Newcastle responded by saying there had been no commitment to sell the 25-year-old who is under contract until 2028. "The reality is that promises were made and the club has known my position for a long time. Acting as if these issues have only just emerged is misleading." Newcastle were quick to respond. "We are clear in response that Alex remains under contract ...," the club said. "We want to keep our best players, but we also understand players have their own wishes and we listen to their views. "As explained to Alex and his representatives, we must always take into consideration the best interests of Newcastle United, the team and our supporters in all decisions and we have been clear that the conditions of a sale this summer have not transpired. We do not foresee those conditions being met." Shearer said while there was still the potential for Isak to play again for Newcastle, he had gone about things the wrong way and should question his agent's role. "Everything sort of boils down to: I think he's being given bad advice and the way he's going about it is wrong," Shearer said.
