Legendary Egyptian actress Samiha Ayoub passed away at 93.
Born in the Shubra district, Samiha Ayoub was an extraordinary talent whose professional journey began in 1947 with her debut film Al-Motasharida (The Vagabond).
With a career that spanned over 77 years in cinema and television, she holds the record for the longest artistic journey in Arab film history.
In 1949, Ayoub joined the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts, founded by Zaki Toleimat, under whose mentorship she flourished.
Even as a student, she balanced her studies with acting in theatre and cinema.
She rose to fame in the early 1950s with roles in Shati' Al-Gharam (1950) and Ward Al-Gharam (1951) and graduated in 1953.
Ayoub joined the Egyptian National Theatre, where she later served as director twice between 1975 and 1989.
She also led the Modern Theatre from 1972 to 1975.
Over her illustrious career, she performed in nearly 170 stage productions, solidifying her legacy as a titan of Arab theatre.
Ayoub's legendary career spans over 450 works, including 44 films, around 220 TV series, and nearly 115 radio dramas.
Dubbed Lady of Arab Theater, Ayoub was a true icon of Arab theatre, with a remarkable legacy spanning over seven decades in stage, film, and television since her debut.

Yara Sameh Egyptian short film "Blackout" will compete at the 2025 Palm Springs International ShortFest, one of the world's premiere festivals dedicated to short form film. Directed and written by Ahmed Moustafa ElZogbhy, "Blackout" follows a family during the early hours of Eid, as a health emergency spirals into psychological tension inside a Cairo apartment building. With the male family members gone in search of a doctor, the women and children are left behind, until a mysterious tenant and her companion arrive, triggering a confrontation with their fears and expectations. The film stars Sedky Sakhr, Gihan El Shamashergy, Yara Goubran, and Malek Emad. Co-producers include Mohamed Hefzy, Safei ElDin Mahmoud, Aly El Araby, and more. It is produced by Hind Metwalli, Mohamed Hefzy, Safei Eldin Mahmoud, Baho Bakhsh, Ali Elarabi, Ahmed Amer, Sherif Fathy, Ibrahim El-Nagari, and Mustafa El-Kashef. "The Seven Dogs" Poster Revealed

Bad Boys For Life directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are helming the film from a script by Mohamed El-Dabbah. The pic is based on a story by the head of Saudi Arabia's General Entertainment Authority Turki Al-Sheikh and the Big Time team. The cast also includes Menna Shalaby, Tara Emad, Hannah El Zahed, Sayed Ragab, Saudi Arabian actor Nasser Al Qasabi, Hala Sedki, and more. Riyadh will serve as a stand-in for multiple international cities, including Mumbai and Shanghai. The film is considered to be the largest Arab film production to date with a budget exceeding $40 million. The $40M project is being hailed as a gamechanger for Saudi Arabia as it continues its drive to become the Middle East and North Africa's biggest film and TV hub. It is produced by Jeddah-based entertainment company Sela, with Ivan Atkinson (The Gentlemen, Wrath of Man) lead producing. "The Seven Dogs" marks the fourth collaboration between Abdel Aziz and Ahmed Ezz after blockbuster films "Welad Rizk 3: El Qadya" and "Kira & El Gin" and season 2 of the critically acclaimed TV series 'El Ekhteyar ll'. In the film, Ezz plays Interpol officer Khalid Al-Azzazi, who apprehends Ghali Abu Dawood (Aziz), a high-ranking member of the clandestine global crime syndicate known as 7 Dogs. A year later, the organization resurfaces, trafficking a dangerous new drug—Pink Lady—across the Middle East. With time running out, Khalid reluctantly join forces with Ghali, the only person with intimate knowledge of the syndicate's operations. Their uneasy alliance propels them on a high-stakes mission across multiple global cities as they strive to dismantle the organization and prevent the drug from flooding Arab streets. The poster features both actors in elegant black suits, holding weapons – signaling the film's action and crime elements. In the background, a famous painting of dogs playing poker is prominently displayed, accompanied by the intriguing tagline: 'Not All Dogs Stay Loyal', hinting that betrayal may be part of the plot. '7Dogs' is written by Mohamed al-Dabbah, with the story by al-Sheikh. It is directed by the internationally recognized duo Adel and Bilal, and produced by al-Sheikh.
