Naini slams BRS leaders for baseless remarks
He participated as chief guest and inaugurated development works in the 4rth division's Jyotibasunagar Colony on Friday. They included a CC road constructed with Rs 25 lakh and another CC road from Akshara Colony to the main road built at a cost of Rs 49.9 lakh. The MLA interacted with residents and listened to their issues.
Recently, verbal clashes have intensified between the BRS and Congress corporators and leaders. Each side is conducting media conferences, challenging one another to public debates. Against this backdrop, the MLA strongly responded during his inauguration speech.
He emphasised that funds were sanctioned with intent to involve everyone in the development process, regardless of party affiliation, because people across all divisions had voted for them with trust. He warned that he would present detailed evidence before the media comparing the works done during BRS's rule with the development achieved in just 18 months under the government.
He stated that during BRS rule, funds were deliberately not allocated to divisions with Congress corporators, but under this government, public development and welfare are the main priorities. He mentioned that even in divisions with BJP and BRS corporators, funds are now being allocated on an equal basis. He criticised some BRS corporators for boycotting a recent Ballia council meeting not to fight for people's issues, but for political gain. As an MLA elected with the cooperation of everyone, he said he is working impartially and allocating funds for development without forgetting anyone.
Since the Congress came to power, he said, with the support of CM, funds are being sanctioned for development of all colonies. In just 18 months, about Rs 4.5 crore has been allocated solely for the development of colonies in the division. Reddy stressed that understanding and solving public issues is his primary responsibility; development works taken up in colonies with the cooperation of GWMC and KUDA are progressing rapidly. He instructed officials and contractors to work in coordination to ensure the newly launched projects are completed within a short time.

‘Need a clear-cut answer': K C Venugopal demands immediate release of Catholic nuns jailed in Chhattisgarh
Congress leader K C Venugopal on Wednesday raised the issue of the two Catholic nuns arrested in Chhattisgarh last week on charges of religious conversion and human trafficking and urged the Centre to intervene, demanding that they 'be released immediately'. He was speaking during Zero Hour in Lok Sabha. The nuns from Kerala, Preethi Mary and Vandana Francis, were allegedly attacked at Durg railway station in Chhattisgarh, purportedly by the Bajrang Dal, on July 25. Venugopal said that the nuns were helping cancer patients, giving palliative care services, and helping deprived people. 'These two nuns, along with three other women, went to the station to go to Agra. The Bajrang Dal people manhandled them and tried to raise slogans. The police came, and we thought the police would rescue them,' he said. 'Last Christmas, the Prime Minister went to CBCI [Catholic Bishops' Conference of India] headquarters and gave a big speech with a promise to protect Christian and minority rights… For the last five days, these two nuns have been in jail without any reason,' Venugopal further said. Saying that Congress MPs went there a day earlier, Venugopal said the party has also written to Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, seeking the release of the nuns. 'The chief minister is repeating the same version as that of the Bajrang Dal. How can we allow it? If the government is not acting, the situation will go out of control,' he said, adding that nuns in Kerala were protesting. 'We need a clear-cut answer. The government has to intervene, and they should be released immediately,' Venugopal said. Congress MP from Kerala, Kodikunnil Suresh, raised the same issue after Venugopal did, speaking in Malayalam. The arrest of the nuns has become a major political flashpoint. On Tuesday, MPs from Kerala's ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) and Opposition United Democratic Front (UDF) held separate protests over the issue outside Parliament.

New Delhi: As Kerala MPs led by Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra protested in Parliament over the arrest of two nuns in Chhattisgarh on charges of human trafficking and forced religious conversion, senior party leader Shashi Tharoor was conspicuously absent. Interestingly, Mr Tharoor was part of a protest on the same issue yesterday, but was not seen today. The absence sparked a buzz as it played out against the backdrop of Mr Tharoor's strained ties with the Congress leadership over his public remarks after the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor. The Thiruvananthapuram MP was part of a protest by Kerala Congress MPs in the Parliament complex yesterday. Holding a placard that read, "India for all, proud to be one", Mr Tharoor told the media yesterday, "The nuns are innocent, they must be released. There should not be mob rule in the country. This is the government's responsibility." At the protest today, Ms Gandhi Vadra said the nuns were accused of things they were not doing. "They were manhandled and then taken away by the Chhattisgarh police. We are protesting against these kinds of attacks on minorities," she told the media. Shashi Tharoor has been making headlines for the past several months for his strained ties with the Congress leadership. An outstanding public speaker, the former diplomat was not on the Congress's list of speakers for the Operation Sindoor debate -- an omission that provided political ammunition to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and others in the BJP. Sources in the Congress have said that the party had approached Mr Tharoor to speak during the debate, but he refused to toe the party line and said he would not contradict himself "for the sake of party messaging". Mr Tharoor has been on the receiving end of barbs from his party colleagues over his praise of the BJP government's response to the Pahalgam terror attack. Mr Tharoor recently said his "first loyalty" lies with the nation. "Parties are a means of making the nation better. So to my mind, whichever party you belong to, the objective of that party is to create a better India in its own way," he said. The Congress, determined to corner the government on the sudden announcement of the ceasefire by US President Donald Trump and the intelligence failure that led to the Pahalgam attack, did not approve of Mr Tharoor's remarks. Why Were Nuns Arrested Two Kerala-based catholic nuns were arrested at Chhattisgarh's Durg station last week. Bajrang Dal supporters alleged that they were trafficking three minor tribal girls after promising them jobs and education. They have been charged with human trafficking under Section 143 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and forced conversion under the Chhattisgarh Freedom of Religion Act. The incident has sparked a massive row, with Opposition parties led by the Congress accusing the BJP government in Chhattisgarh of targeting minorities. Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, has said religious freedom is a constitutional right. "We demand their immediate release and accountability for this injustice," he said. Christian organisations have also voiced their protest. In fact, the Kerala BJP has stressed that the nuns were not involved in any human trafficking or forced conversion attempts. BJP Kerala president Rajeev Chandrasekhar has said he would make all possible attempts to release the nuns from jail and bring them back home safe. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has defended the arrests, saying he is concerned about the safety of "our daughters of Bastar". He has accused the Congress and other Opposition parties of politicising the issue.
