He was so unprepared that the people around had to remind him, 'Hansen, Hansen, put your suit on.' Hansen shared his funny state at that moment, and he took a couple of seconds to process the announcement and make himself presentable.
Yang Hansen is being called the precious find of the Portland Trail Blazers because of his staggering performance in the Summer League. He has even won the nickname 'Chinese Jokic' because of his ball passing abilities comparable to the MVP.

'For sure it was a big shock for me. When Adam Silver called my name, it surprised me. I was just sitting there finishing my fried chicken. I didn't even put my suit on. Suddenly they told me, 'Hansen, Hansen, put your suit on.'"

Yes, while the other draft picks might be busy waiting for their name with fingers crossed, Hansen was busy doing, guess what? Eating fried chicken.
None of the experts had anticipated the early selection of Hansen, including the player himself. However, the selection has proved to be a smart move for the Portland Trail Blazers. The two-time All-Star game selectee in China has shown immense potential over three games.
Yang Hansen has lived up to expectations of Portland Trail Blazers' GM Jim Cronin
With impressive numbers of 11.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 2.0 blocks per game in the last three games, Yang Hansen has proved that the Portland Trail Blazers have made the right choice. Even before the games, the Blazers' GM, Jim Cronin, was confident about Hansen's potential.
Jim Cronin, at media availability after the NBA 2025 draft, showed full faith in his decision. He called Hansen 'very very unique talent', highlighting his 7'2' height fit for the game coupled with his ball passing IQ, high-end skill-set and young age of 20 years being his other positives.

When the press asked GM, 'When did you fall in love with Yang Hansen?', he sincerely replied that they have been scouting the young international talent for about two years. He explained:
'We've had, you know, we had a scout identify him during one of his under-18 events and
then we sent Mike and Sergy, our two assistant GMs, over to China that fall to go scout him live. When they came back from that trip, they left um very very impressed and we were actually hoping he'd be in last year's draft.
(But) he didn't declare last year, so we continued to scout him for the last year, um, this last past season.'
He continued, 'As we studied him more and more throughout this spring, you know, we saw him at the combine, of course, met with him at the combine, and then we're able to bring him in here, and had a good workout here, and were able to spend more time with him here. So, you know, between our scouts identifying him early on and then some of our big key decision makers seeing him very early on, I felt like we had a big advantage in uh our scouting process and building our book on him as a player.
'
Yang Hansen's game style reminds everyone of
Nikola Jokic
Yang Hansen is now lovingly being called 'Chinese Jokic.' The comparison is being done owing to his style of game, which is quite similar to the Serbian MVP. From reel-passes to rim selection and scoring threes, Hansen is making the mark in every aspect.
The hype around Hansen bearing a resemblance to Jokic reached another level when a picture of Hansen walking through the tunnel was posted by the Portland Trail Blazers.
In the picture, Hansen, entering the tube, has Jokic's picture on his side, making an interesting angle. The Blazers captioned it as, 'Locked.'
Yang Hansen is young, athletic, ambitious achiever and full of talent, undoubtedly. His numbers in the last three games are testament to his immense potential. When he will meet the Serbian star, Nikola Jokic, on the court, it is sure to serve some magical moments to the fans.
Meanwhile, the fried chicken story about the NBA draft night shows the innocent and boyish side of the Trail Blazers' 16th overall draft. Hope his natural innocence remains intact amidst all the hoopla the NBA career brings along.

'I don't really give a f**k': Adin Ross slammed for "misogynist" & "sexist" WNBA comment in viral clip
(Image via @adinross/Kick) Kick streamer Adin Ross is once again at the center of internet backlash, this time for his reaction to WNBA players wearing protest-themed T-shirts. During a livestream on July 20, 2025, Ross went on a heated rant, claiming that only Caitlin Clark 'deserves' to wear the now-viral 'Pay Us What You Owe Us' shirts. Within hours, clips of his comments spread like wildfire across X and Reddit. Adin Ross calls WNBA a 'tax write-off,' says 'no revenue at all' The comments came after Ross watched a clip of WNBA All-Star captains Caitlin Clark and Napheesa Collier walking out in black shirts with the bold message: 'Pay Us What You Owe Us.' Ross paused the clip, then unleashed. 'Unless you're Caitlin Clark, you shouldn't ever be able to put on a shirt,' he said. He followed up with a monologue where he denied being misogynistic but insisted the WNBA was, in his words, 'probably a write-off for the NBA' and that the league generates 'no f**king revenue at all.' He clarified, or at least tried to, that he 'loves women,' has a mother and sisters, and wasn't trying to hate. But by that point, the clip had already spread like wildfire. Social media explodes as fans, creators slam Ross's 'tone-deaf' take By the next day, X (formerly Twitter) was flooded with reactions. Some called the rant sexist. Others said it was just plain misinformed. 'This nigga genuinely never knows shit about what he's talking about. ' one user wrote. Many fans pointed out that stars like Angel Reese and A'ja Wilson have played a massive role in growing the WNBA's audience, long before Caitlin Clark entered the scene. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like You Won't Believe the Price of These Dubai Apartments Binghatti Developers FZE Get Offer Undo One viral reply said, 'To be honest he is right, She is the only reason people are talking about the WNBA.' How Caitlin Clark's ongoing recovery could impact the Indiana Fever's clash with the New York Liberty
(Image Source - Getty Images) The Indiana Fever are set to go up against the New York Liberty on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. However, the focus isn't solely on the game—it's on whether star player Caitlin Clark will be on the floor. Clark, the Fever's leading point guard, has been struggling with a right groin injury, and it seems unlikely she'll be able to play in this matchup. Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White addresses Caitlin Clark's injury On July 15, 2025, Caitlin Clark suffered an injury during a match with the Connecticut Sun. With only 30 seconds left on the clock, she made a pass to Kelsey Mitchell and immediately exhibited signs of distress. Her facial expression revealed everything—she was in pain. She held her right groin and left the court, unable to continue playing. After the game, Fever coach Stephanie White shared an initial update with reporters, saying, 'She felt a little something in her groin, so we'll get it evaluated and see what happens' On July 16, the day after, the Fever indicated that Clark was questionable for the game against the Liberty planned for July 17, with the team tweeting, 'Caitlin Clark is questionable for tomorrow's game against New York with a right groin injury'. By July 17, though, the verdict was in: Clark was officially ruled out for that game, with the Fever confirming via X, 'Caitlin Clark has been downgraded to OUT for tonight's game vs. New York due to a right groin injury'. Caitlin Clark skips Indiana Fever practice while awaiting results from injury scans After the injury, the Fever have kept things under wraps but are being careful about Caitlin Clark's recovery. On July 20, 2025, Coach Stephanie White talked to the media after the team resumed practice following the All-Star break. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like These Are The Most Beautiful Women In The World Undo She gave the latest update, mentioning, 'She's going to see some doctors and get some more tests around early in the week. You know, I don't expect her to be available on Tuesday, so we're just going to continue to take it one day at a time and let her get her evaluations early this week, and then once we've done that, hopefully we'll have a clear line of what it looks like'. Clark herself didn't make it to that Sunday practice, along with her All-Star teammates Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell, who were probably just resting up after the weekend's events. Missing out on the All-Star festivities really hit Clark hard. She opened up to reporters before the All-Star Game, sharing her feelings of frustration: 'When the injury happened, it was pretty frustrating, considering I knew what the coming days were gonna hold for myself. But I feel like dealing with that, and then also just like trying to look at it in the most positive manner that I can... I think just it all comes back to having good perspective on everything'. Coach Stephanie White trusts Indiana Fever's adaptability in Caitlin Clark's absence Clark is the heart of the Fever's offense. She's an excellent shooter and playmaker, consistently putting up high points and assists when she's healthy. If she's not playing, the team will turn to Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston. Mitchell is a fantastic scorer from three-point range, and Boston is a strong presence in the paint, so they have to really step up. The bench will also need to bring some extra hustle to keep the Fever in the fight. Stephanie White gives concerning update on Caitlin Clark groin Injury Coach White is confident in the team's ability to adapt, telling IndyStar, 'This group has played without her; we've at least got experience in that. We know that we have a tough opponent in New York, and we know it's going to be a challenge no matter what'. The Fever have managed to adjust before, with an 8-4 record in games Clark missed earlier this season, but the Liberty present a whole new level of difficulty. Also Read: 'My son could've died'— Gilbert Arenas survives a parent's worst nightmare before Alijah commits to USC She's really important on defense as well. Playing as a guard, she applies pressure on opponents out on the perimeter and causes turnovers. Without her presence, the Fever could find it hard to manage the Liberty's guards, such as Sabrina Ionescu, who can score from beyond the arc. The team may need to modify their defensive approach, putting extra pressure on other players to make up for her. FAQs What injury is Caitlin Clark currently dealing with? A right groin strain from the July 15 game against the Connecticut Sun. How many games has Clark missed this season? She's missed 11 of the Fever's 23 regular-season games When is Clark expected to return? No clear timeline; she's awaiting further medical evaluations early this week Catch Rani Rampal's inspiring story on Game On, Episode 4. Watch Here!
