'Every Session Is Special': Kiren Rijiju Says Govt Will Discuss Op Sindoor, Other Issues In Parliament
Government sources have indicated that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will address the discussion on Operation Sindoor in both houses of Parliament during monsoon session.
The government has announced that the monsoon session of Parliament will be held from 21st July to 12th August. Various bills will be addressed and several issues will be discussed during this period.
The government has dismissed the opposition's demand for a special session, stating that every session is special and every issue is important. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju emphasised that multiple matters can be discussed under various rules in both houses of Parliament. He assured that the government is open to discussing the issues raised by the opposition, including Operation Sindoor.
'For us, every session is special and every issue is special. There are various rules under which multiple matters can be discussed in both houses of Parliament," Rijiju told CNN-News18.
Government sources have indicated that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will address the discussion on Operation Sindoor in both houses of Parliament.
Opposition parties, particularly the Congress and TMC, have been urging the Modi government to hold a special session to discuss Operation Sindoor. However, government sources argued that since the operation is ongoing and not yet concluded, it would not be appropriate to hold a special session at this time. They believe that any public disagreement among political parties on this matter would benefit Pakistan.
The government has also ruled out the possibility of a special session to mark the 50th anniversary of the Emergency on 25th June. This clarification came after Rajya Sabha MP Jairam Ramesh from the Congress party suggested on X that the government was planning a two-day special session on the Emergency. Rijiju confirmed that the government has not considered this idea.
During the upcoming session, several bills will be up for passage, including those pending from previous sessions. The government may introduce a bill to redefine the sports code in the country. The income tax bill, which was referred to the select committee for review, may also be brought up for passage, depending on when the committee submits its report.

The monsoon session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha which starts Friday is expected to be a three-day affair. The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) which has just two MLAs have also submitted a number of calling attention motions on the issue of failing law and order situation, scarcity of fertiliser in the state, massive increase in the collector rates and hike in electricity tariff, crop damage due to waterlogging.

Adityanath carrying forward Kalyan's legacy of good governance, says Pradhan
1 2 Lucknow: Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan said on Thursday that former CM Kalyan Singh is remembered as a symbol of Hindutva, nationalism and harmony. "In the 1990s, when Uttar Pradesh was in turmoil, he established the foundation of good governance. Today, Yogi Adityanath is carrying forward that same legacy," he said. Paying his tribute to Kalyan on his fourth death anniversary, he said: "Without him, the Ram Janmabhoomi movement would not have gained such strength and success. Kalyan Singh was not just a person or a leader, but an idea and a tradition. In 2004, when I entered Parliament for the first time, Babuji was already there as a Lok Sabha member and the chairman of a parliamentary committee. I had the privilege of working with him closely. " Kalyan's death anniversary also became an occasion for BJP functionaries to attack the opposition parties by drawing a comparison between BJP and them. In reference to the proposed bill which will make it mandatory for the PM, CMs, or Union and state ministers to step down within 30 days of being jailed, the Pradhan said: "It is natural for those who defy the law to be afraid because their parties are filled with criminals." Drawing a comparison, Pradhan recalled how Kalyan Singh had chosen to resign instead of ordering firing on Ram Bhakts during the Ram Mandir movement, while Arvind Kejriwal, even after going to jail on corruption charges, did not relinquish power. He questioned the morality of Congress and its allies on such issues. Referring to Singh's decision to resign, Pradhan said that he performed an act of national pride, but the then Congress govt in the Centre dismissed his govt. Questioning Congress' alliance with AAP, he said: "Did your ally Arvind Kejriwal go to jail for hoisting the tricolour like Uma Bharti? Did he step down for the cause of nationalism like Babuji? No, he went to jail for corruption and still refused to quit office." "Today, the Congress questions why leaders should resign after arrest. Yesterday, the Yuvraj of Congress (Rahul Gandhi) claimed Modiji is bringing a medieval black law. But it is natural for them to fear — because their party is full of criminals," he said. "PM Narendra Modi has been serving the country for 11 years and will continue for the next decade. 1 2 Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday accused the Congress and the Samajwadi Party of pushing the country into an identity crisis after centuries of Mughal loot and British exploitation. Speaking at the inauguration of the Rs 750-crore Shree cement plant in Etah, he said the two parties never worked for inclusive development, serving only their families while leaving traders and women unsafe. In contrast, he said, the double-engine govt's clear policies and zero tolerance for crime have taken UP to new heights of development. The Etah cement plant will generate 500 direct jobs in the area, a sign of progress in a region which, before 2017, was only known for crime and mafia, the CM said. Yogi said when Congress was in govt at the Centre, even cement was rationed and could only be procured through connections, which made a huge dent in the construction sector. "How could development happen with such intent and policies? Contrasting this with today's growth, India, which fell to the 11th place in the world economy by 2014 due to Congress and SP policies, has now risen to the 4th place under PM Modi and is set to become the third-largest economy within two years," he said. Yogi outlined that the Jawaharpur thermal power plant near the new cement plant generates 1,500MW of power, while Shree Cement's unit created 500 direct jobs and more than 3,000 indirect jobs. He called this the real foundation of an Atmanirbhar and Viksit Bharat, where investment was leading to not just jobs but also strengthening trade, transport, and distribution networks. He credited this turnaround to strict action against mafia and rioters, which restored investor confidence in the state. "UP has received investment proposals worth Rs 45 lakh crore, out of which Rs 15 lakh crore have already been grounded, creating employment for 60 lakh youth. He linked this cultural heritage with modern development, stating how this would become the basis of a Viksit UP-2047. "In the Assembly and Legislative Council, a 24-hour discussion was held on key sectors, and experts will now visit every district to train youth and prepare district-level roadmaps with public participation," he said. The CM assured full cooperation from govt to investors, adding: "The state will honour every promise made under its industrial policy. With modern infrastructure, four-lane connectivity, and welfare schemes, Etah will soon scale new heights of development." Praising Shree Cement, Yogi said the company was not only generating employment but also fulfilling its social responsibility. The Etah unit has so far provided free cement to 183 families of martyrs. "When our soldiers showed courage in Operation Sindoor, it was possible because the nation stood united.
