Guntur: Himachal Pradesh state chief secretary Prabodh Saxena and planning department advisor Dr Basu Sood visited AP CRDA office in Vijayawada on Wednesday. AP CRDA additional commissioners G Surya Sai Praveen Chand and Mallarapu Naveen explained about land pooling system and how they acquired 30,000 acres of land under land pooling scheme, how the government maintained transparency and gave returnable plots to the farmers who gave their land for the construction of state capital Amaravati through power point presentation.
They explained about the distribution of pension Rs 5000 per month to the poor in the state capital, construction of housing colonies, TIDCO Houses, construction of school buildings, Primary Health Centres, Skill Development Centres for women and employment opportunities. They explained about construction of MLA quarters, IAS officers' quarters, IPS officers' quarters, MLC quarters, High Court towers, housing colony for judicial officers, and Assembly buildings complex.
They explained how they mobilized funds from HUDCO, World Bank, and Asian Development Bank for the construction of State capital Amaravati. They explained how greenery is being developed. Later, they visited Undavalli Caves and VIT Campus. They explained how the government is developing Amaravati as an educational hub.

PJTAU must implement new strategies for benefit of small & marginal farmers
Hyderabad: The 61st Foundation Day of Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University (PJTAU) was celebrated on Thursday at the university's auditorium in Rajendranagar. MLC Professor M Kodandaram delivered the Foundation Day address, speaking on 'Glorious Legacy - Future Challenges', and spoke of the establishment of agricultural universities across the country after independence to meet the food needs of the nation. He mentioned that PJTAU has developed many crop varieties that have gained recognition nationwide. However, Prof Kodandaram highlighted that while land reforms and the Green Revolution have led to positive outcomes, they have also resulted in societal inequalities. He pointed out the severe challenges faced by small and marginal farmers in Telangana, including the alarming incidence of farmer suicides. He suggested that the university should prioritize addressing the issues faced by these farmers, who struggle with rising production costs and the unavailability of fair prices for their crops. Additionally, he emphasized the necessity for the university to redefine its role and implement new strategies to support small and marginal farmers effectively. Prof. Kodandaram commended the university's recent initiative, 'Scientists at the Farmer's Doorstep,' and recommended that such programs continue in the future. PJTAU Vice-Chancellor Professor Aldas Janaiah expressed his pleasure that the university is celebrating its 61st Foundation Day during his tenure. He said the university's new initiatives include the creation of centers dedicated to Digital Agriculture, Natural Resources, and the Environment. Pro Vice-Chancellor Janaiah also announced the upcoming introduction of a dual degree program in collaboration with Western Sydney University in Australia.

Delhi's top cop Sanjay Arora to retire on July 31
The Delhi government's home department on Monday issued a formal notification announcing the retirement of Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora on July 31, 2025, upon attaining the age of superannuation. A 1988-batch IPS officer from the Tamil Nadu cadre, Arora's exit will mark the culmination of a nearly four-decade-long policing career. The order, issued with the approval of Delhi lieutenant governor VK Saxena, has been sent to the Union ministry of home affairs (MHA), police headquarters, the directorate of vigilance, and other relevant departments. However, officials said the notification is a routine administrative step typically issued two months ahead of the scheduled retirement of IAS and IPS officers. 'This is a standard procedure,' said a senior Delhi Police officer on condition of anonymity. 'Similar notifications have been issued in the past even for officers who eventually received extensions. Since the power to appoint or extend the tenure of the Delhi Police chief lies solely with the MHA, nothing is certain until the end of July.' Arora, who took charge as Delhi's police commissioner on August 1, 2022, was the third officer from outside the Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory (AGMUT) cadre to lead the city's police, after Ajay Raaj Sharma and Rakesh Asthana. During his tenure, he was known for a composed leadership style and no-nonsense approach to policing, steering the force through several high-profile law and order situations. Before his appointment in Delhi, Arora served as the director general of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and held key positions in Tamil Nadu and across various Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs). His leadership in anti-Naxal operations and efforts at strengthening inter-agency coordination were widely praised. An engineering graduate, Arora was also part of the elite Special Protection Group (SPG), and had previously earned commendations for postings with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Arora's legacy is expected to be defined by a push toward greater accountability within the force and adoption of new technologies to meet the capital's evolving security needs.

TPCC Muslim leaders hope for berth in cabinet
Hyderabad: Newly-appointed Muslim general secretaries and vice-presidents of the TPCC on Thursday said the lack of a Muslim MLA cost the community a cabinet berth but expressed hope that a ministerial opportunity could open up through the MLC route.
