Dodgers React to MLB's Major Shohei Ohtani Announcement on Tuesday
Dodgers React to MLB's Major Shohei Ohtani Announcement on Tuesday originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
After winning it all in 2024, the Los Angeles Dodgers have cemented themselves as one of the best teams in MLB in 2025. They're sporting a 36-24 record while sitting in first place in the NL West.

Of course, they have several talented players on their roster, but maybe none as great as Shohei Ohtani, who is now in just the second season of a 10-year, $700 million contract that runs through the 2033 season.
After winning the NL MVP in 2024, he's only continued to be amazing, and on Tuesday, MLB announced that he'd been named the NL Player of the Month for May.
It's, of course, a special honor and even drew a reaction from the Dodgers, who congratulated Ohtani on X: "May's best Sho. Congratulations Shohei on being named the NL Player of the Month!"
It's no surprise that he won this either, because in May, Ohtani appeared in 27 games, accumulating 110 at-bats, 34 hits, 15 home runs, 31 runs scored, 27 RBIs, and 17 walks while slashing .309/.398/.782 with a 1.180 OPS.

What makes earning this honor even more special is that it's the sixth time Ohtani has been named a Player of the Month, receiving it twice with the Dodgers and four times with the Los Angeles Angels.

He hasn't only been great in May, though, because throughout the entire season, he's racked up 233 at-bats, 68 hits, 23 home runs, 64 runs scored, 39 RBIs, 37 walks, a 1.047 OPS and a 3.2 WAR.
There's no doubt that if Ohtani continues to perform at this pace, he will have a good argument for winning his fourth career MVP and second with the Dodgers.

With that in mind, you should look around the BetMGM Sportsbook app at several markets to find one that you think is likely to settle as a win. Panthers-Oilers Game 2 could be a good option, but you might want to dig deeper and look at prop bets for that game, or an MLB matchup. With the $1,500 first bet, you can wager up to that amount knowing that BetMGM Sportsbook will give you your stake back in a bonus. As an example, let's say you bet $1,000 on the Oilers moneyline for Game 2. If the Oilers win, you will get a large payout. Cowboys BREAKING With Micah Parsons Surprise Arrival at OTAs
Cowboys BREAKING With Micah Parsons Surprise Arrival at OTAs originally appeared on Athlon Sports. FRISCO - We were given no indication from the Dallas Cowboys pass-rushing linebacker Micah Parsons would be showing up to work on Thursday. Advertisement So we will work on the assumption that they are as mildly surprised - and wildly pleased - to see him striding into The Star, his recent travel plans behind him. While a new deal has been discussed and per reporting maybe valued at more than $40 million APY and thought to last around five years, so far, there have been no substantial developments between Micah and the Cowboys regarding the finalization of an extension. Yes, ideas have been pitched back and forth, but the longer it goes without getting done, the more fans shift nervously and angrily in their seats. Training camp looms as a "real" deadline in negotiations for Micah and Dallas, with Parsons stating that it is crucial for him to have a deal in place by the time he arrives in Oxnard. Advertisement Given the magnitude of the deal and the player, it is no surprise that Micah's contract getting done is the biggest training camp storyline for Dallas as the late-July move to Oxnard awaits. As of Tuesday morning here inside The Star? No, Parsons was not present ... and coach Brian Schottenheimer was unconcerned. "We talked a couple of days ago,'' the coach said, adding that he "assumes'' Parsons will be in the building for upcoming mandatory work. Ah, but wait ... At about 2:10 p.m. ... shortly after the end of practice ... here came Micah down the hallway, as noted by colleague Saad Yousuf ... Parsons, who just turned 26 years old, is arguably the the best pass rusher in football. The idea of him earning a $200 million contract - maybe the biggest non-QB deal ever - is almost inevitable. Advertisement Is a camp absence inevitable, too? With the contracts of Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb dragging through training camp last offseason, Parsons won't want to suffer a similar fate. So far, Parsons has been in and out of OTAs, and being voluntary, there's nothing wrong with that, although in an ideal world, he would attend. Mandatory mini camp is just around the corner - another "deadline'' on June 10 - and Micah is expected to attend, but in what capacity is unknown. Dallas has had a solid offseason in Brian Schottenheimer's first go-around as head coach. The missing piece? A Parsons contract extension to let out all of the unnecessary tension. Advertisement "Deadlines make deals," owner Jerry Jones once famously said to us way back when, and we are quickly approaching the biggest deadline in Parsons' contract talks. ... with Micah showing up on Tuesday nothing but a positive sign. Cowboys' Micah Parsons Announces Major Statement
Cowboys' Micah Parsons Announces Major Statement originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Micah Parsons being in and out of Dallas Cowboys OTAs wasn't the biggest of deals, with the All-Pro making his way to The Star after the most recent practice. Advertisement But with his contract situation still not resolved, all eyes are on mandatory mini-camp next week and whether or not "The Lion" will be in attendance. "I expect to see him," head coach Brian Schottenheimer said. And now Micah himself has confirmed his attendance via X regardless of whether a deal is done or not. "I will be there! I haven't missed a mini camp in 4 years! Even though the contract is not done, I have teammates and a playbook ! I'm preparing as if I will be on the field the first week of camp! But it's in the owner's hands. I'm ready to win a Super Bowl !" Micah Parsons And Brian SchottenheimerTony Fisher Cue a collective sigh of relief with perhaps Dallas' best player not letting his contract situation interfere with his football. Advertisement Of course, in an ideal world, Dallas and Micah would come to terms sooner rather than later, but with Parsons expected to fetch a contract around $40 million APY, Jerry Jones stated that No. 11 must be the player he wants to be paid like. And that means showing up for work. Which Parsons has done to a degree during OTAs, and now he's confirmed he'll be at The Star next week for the mandatory portion of this early offseason work. Part of a new-look leadership group, Parsons knows the value of being there for his teammates and to learn a new playbook. So with or without a contract, Micah will be present next week.
