DMK launches ‘Oraniyil Tamil Nadu' enrolment drive with eye on 2026 assembly polls
MADURAI: Chief Minister and DMK president M.K. Stalin on Sunday announced a special cadre enrolment drive titled 'Oraniyil Tamil Nadu', setting a two-month target for party functionaries to enrol new members. A special resolution to this effect was adopted at the DMK's 7th General Council meeting held in Uthangudi.
While moving the resolution, Stalin said each booth committee member must enrol at least 30% of the voters within their booth limits. District secretaries and other functionaries must ensure the target is achieved within two months, he emphasised.
Stating that at least one person in every household benefits from a welfare scheme under the Dravidian model government which follows the principle of 'everything for everyone' Stalin urged all families in Tamil Nadu to unite under one umbrella in the run-up to the 2026 Assembly election. The aim, he said, is to take forward the DMK's efforts to protect state rights, language, and dignity.
He also added that he would personally interact with party functionaries to review the progress of the enrolment drive.

Kanimozhi also stressed that terrorism linked to Pakistan affects not only India but the whole world, and all countries must work together to stop it. New Delhi [India], June 3 (ANI): BJP MP Capt Brijesh Chowta, member of all-party delegation led by DMK MP Kanimozhi on Tuesday praised the success of the mission, highlighting the Prime Minister Narendra Midi's clear message of One Bharat, One Message, and One Mission. He underscored that India will deal firmly with terrorism emanating from Pakistan, targeting innocent civilians. Operation Sindoor was cited as an example of India's strong resolve against terrorism. '...I must say that this has been very successful mission because the PM had clearly sent us with One Bharat, One Message and One Mission - that it is a strong resolve of 140 crore Indians and of PM Narendra Modi that terror, henceforth, will face consequences. DMK celebrates Karunanidhi's birthday as Semmozhi Day
Chennai: Celebrating late DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi 's 102nd birth anniversary as Semmozhi Day, chief minister M K Stalin inaugurated an exhibition titled 'Tamil Semmozhi,' on Tuesday. The expo displaying pictures of Tamil inscriptions portraying rich Tamil history would be open for public till June 9. Stalin commenced the day with a visit to Karunanidhi memorial in Marina beach where he paid floral tributes. He then proceeded to Omandurar govt hospital to garland Karunanidhi's statue. Later, he visited DMk headquarters Anna Arivalayam, Karunanidhi's residence in Gopalapuram and then the residence of DMK MP Kanizmozhi Karunanidhi in CIT colony. Subsequently, he participated at a function in Kalaivanar Arangam where he inaugurated the 'Tamil Semmozhi' exhibition. He also released a book on four year achievements of the DMK govt and distributed Kalaignar Karunanidhi Semmozhi Tamil award to Tamil scholar Thayammal, which carried a cash reward of 10lakh and a miniature statue of Karunanidhi. He also gave prizes to students who won various competitions conducted for Semmozhi Day at the school and college levels. Across the state, DMK organised 102 events marking the 102nd birth anniversary. Special celebrations were also organised at Karunanidhi's birthplace Thirukkuvalai in Nagapattinam district.
