She was one of four competitors in the junior event which was held in conjunction with a big number of races on a sunny afternoon when tragedy struck.
Other young people who were taking part in the heat during which Lauren died were deeply upset by what had occurred.

Members of her family who were watching the race were quickly with her at the scene.
Large numbers of spectators also witnessed the accident.
Lauren was wearing the full protective gear that competitors are required to wear in these events, including a helmet.
This was just her second time competing in the motorsport and her principal Trish Lynam said "she was so so proud being able to compete in this particular area'.

Grief experts from the National Educational Psychological Service were made available to pupils in the school, which opened on Bank Holiday Monday where photos of Lauren were placed on tables in the entrance area along with a book of condolences.
A postmortem will be carried out today, after which it is expected the family will bring Lauren home.
On the death notice this morning on RIP.ie they state: 'It is with deepest regret that we announced the death of our beloved daughter Lauren, who died unexpectedly on 4th of May 2025, surrounded by her family, following an accident.

They added: "Lauren's family would like to thank the Emergency Services, The Cork Autograss Community and all those who helped."
They have asked for family flowers only with donations to West Cork Rapid Response.
Lauren is survived by her parents Therese and Timmy, her siblings Josh and Shannon, her grandparents Christy, Therese, Connie and Ellen along with a large extended family and friends.

"It was a privilege to have known her. May her gentle soul rest in peace."

Gardai are continuing their investigation into the tragic accident. Forensic investigation experts finished their examination at the scene yesterday.
Following the examination two damaged cars, Lauren's and another which drove into the rear of Lauren's car when it hit the barrier were removed in late afternoon.
They will undergo an intensive examination by Garda experts.
LOCAL SUPPORT
Locals brought flowers to the track which surrounds the Castletown Celtic soccer pitch yesterday.

A vigil was held last night attended by members of the close knit rural community and members of the autocross and other sports clubs in the area.
Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the incident.
Anyone who may have camera footage and were attending the event between 3pm and 4pm yesterday are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

‘Turning point' for Glencar as it completes renovation of iconic British film studios
AN Irish-founded construction firm has completed a significant renovation of the oldest film studio still in operation in Britain. Glencar has just handed over the newly redeveloped Ealing Studios in west London. The project, which they won in 2022 and began work on in January 2024, has seen them transform the site, which was founded in 1902 and is the UK's oldest continually operational film studio. Glencar has completed the redevelopment of Ealing Film Studios (Pic: Glencar) Over the years movies made at the site include Bridget Jones, St. Trinians' and The Theory of Everything. Following their extensive development, the studios now have a new 14,000 sq ft piled steel-frame sound stage, two new workshop buildings and over 34,000 sq ft of new production offices. The building also boasts a new art deco-inspired arrival hub and public-facing site reception. The 18-month project, which was undertaken while the studio remained in operation, came to a close this month. 'Throughout the programme, Glencar worked closely with the Ealing Studios operations team to maintain live filming and ensure that existing site tenants remained unaffected,' the Hertfordshire based firm confirmed as they handed over the building. 'This project represents a turning point for Glencar,' said the firm's CEO Eddie McGillycuddy. 'It shows our ability to deliver complex, high-specification schemes in live, urban environments — combining sustainability, technical precision and a deep understanding of operational needs in the creative industries,' he added. Traffic warning for Irish drivers over M50 motorway crash delay & Dublin Tunnel breakdown amid 40 min Irish Rail hold-up
IRISH road users are being warned of several delays across the M50 in Dublin this morning. And public transport is also facing several issues with delays of up to 40 minutes on some services. 1 The M50 has been impacted by several incidents this morning Credit: Crispin Rodwell - The Sun Dublin A crash on the M50 this morning has caused significant disruption for motorists. Advertisement The incident occurred between J07 Lucan and J09 headed southbound shortly after 7am. The crash mainly impacted the hard shoulder and has been cleared to allow road operations to continue as normal. And in the Dublin Tunnel this morning a breakdown has also caused delays. The breakdown occurred in Lane One headed northbound in the tunnel. Advertisement The obstruction has since been cleared with traffic flows expected to be back to normal on the stretch. There is an active breakdown on M4/N4 westbound this morning. The incident involving a car is sitting between J2 Liffey Valley and J3 Lucan.
