Steven Gerrard branded 'obvious choice' by major Rangers shareholder
The major shareholder reckons the Liverpool legend has "unfinished business" at Ibrox and should be under consideration to take over this summer.
He told The Rangers Review: 'I'd be very surprised if they haven't spoken to him because Steven is the obvious choice.
'I think I know him well enough to fairly accurately state it would be unfinished business for him.
'Steven left at a time he didn't want to leave. That's a fact. And the team was still top of the league at the time that he left. He wanted to defend that title. I think he would have defended the title had he stayed.
'So from Steven's personal point of view and where he is at the moment, I think he'd love nothing more than to come back to the club and take on the challenge of restoring the club. And it's not just about one title because the project that we hope we're starting now is a project to make Rangers the dominant number one team in Scotland.
'It's not about winning another league title. It's about really putting Rangers back at the top. This is a project. It's not a one-off. And I think Steven would be perfect for that.
'So I'd be very surprised if they haven't spoken to Steven because he's, as I say, he's by far the least risky candidate to give new money to, by far the least risky candidate.'

King was heavily involved in bringing Gerrad to Rangers back in 2018 and reckons he is the "outstanding choice" for the job again.
Russell Martin and Davide Ancelotti have also been linked with the vacant post at Ibrox.
However, King is keen to see Gerrard back at the helm at Ibrox with the Liverpool hero currently out of the dugout after leaving Al Ettifaq.
He added: 'Steven would be by far the outstanding choice if any contractual issues could be sorted out.
'With Steven there's other things that have to be negotiated. I think he's having his first granddaughter, but Glasgow's not that far from Liverpool. If he was in Dubai, I think that would be different.
'He still has his contract, so I think there will still be issues to deal with. I don't know what the situation was when he left Saudi. But I think by far the least risky option is bringing Steven in if they could get that across the line."

Liverpool over an early transfer for Trent Alexander-Arnold in the hope that he can play for Los Blancos at this summer's Club World Cup. The Spanish giants are said to be keen for the right back before his contract officially expires on June 30. However, Liverpool are determined to hold out for a fee if the Reds are to release him early, given that he will depart his boyhood side as a free agent. According to a report from The Times on Thursday night, Real's desire to seal Alexander-Arnold's arrival could see a deal completed within the next 24 hours. Xabi Alonso - who replaced Carlo Ancelotti in the Spanish capital following the latter's decision to manage the Brazil national team - wants the 26-year-old in his squad for their first match of the new tournament against Al-Hilal in Miami on June 18. Alexander-Arnold could be allowed to move thanks to the creation of a special transfer window by FIFA from June 1 to June 10 specifically for the Club World Cup. Figures at Real are said to want him to officially be their player before he joins up with the England squad next week ahead of the Three Lions' World Cup qualifier against Andorra and their subsequent friendly with Senegal. Our appeal, sporting ambitions, and economic power are well known to all top players around the world." Club president Herbert Hainer has also been candid on Bayern's pursuit, telling Abendzeitung: "[Director of sport] Max Eberl has informed me that Florian Wirtz is probably leaning towards Liverpool. I can't say how things will continue with Leverkusen."
