Gandhinagar: The Gujarat govt is stepping up its ecotourism game with a 135-km ultra-marathon nature trail along the banks of the Narmada. The trail, stretching from Hafeshwar Mahadev Temple to Kevadiya — home to the world's largest statue, the
(SOU) — will cater to both serious athletes and laid-back walkers seeking a natural escape.

The route will meander through the scenic back country and include support utilities every few kilometres.
Officials are banking on the Statue of Unity's popularity to give this ambitious project a global spotlight.
According to officials in the state environment and forest department, the trail will wind through a striking landscape of ravines, hills, and riverine plains. "It will be built along natural contour lines and will include basic infrastructure like cross-drainage structures, rest points, and utility setups," said an official.
The initial 48-km stretch will run through the Kwant (21km) and Naswadi (27km) talukas of Chhota Udepur district.
" The trail will evolve organically as more people begin to use it. It is not a rigid path, but one shaped by natural usage. Once stabilized, the route will support a variety of nature-based adventure activities — from hiking to ultra-distance trail running," a senior official said, adding that the trail will offer breathtaking views of the Narmada on one side and hills with dense tree cover on the other side.
"The forest department also plans to train local youth as trail guides to enhance the visitor experience with stories about the local ecosystem, flora and fauna, and tribal traditions, said an official involved with the conceptualisation of the project.
The forest department has begun the process of developing basic utilities every few kilometres for nature lovers, hikers, and trail runners. "We are also trying to identify local homestays and other facilities to support trekkers and tourists," said an official.
Officials believe this initiative could transform the route into a new eco-tourism circuit, extending the tourism footprint of the Statue of Unity region.

Dam projects can now be considered in J&K too: Omar Abdullah

Vadodara / Ahmedabad: Jammu and Kashmir is open for tourism and continues to welcome lakhs of visitors despite the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, said J&K chief minister on Thursday. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Speaking during his two-day visit to Gujarat, Abdullah emphasised that while the attack impacted the tourism sector initially, the region has witnessed a steady recovery in footfall. "I am not denying that the Pahalgam terror attack affected our tourism industry. It happened right at the beginning of the peak season, and tourists left overnight," he said. "Srinagar airport, which usually handles 50 to 55 flights a day, saw arrivals drop to just 15. But now, we're back to about 30 flight arrivals daily. Kashmir is not empty, and we have not come here in despair. We want more people to visit Jammu and Kashmir. " Abdullah was in Ahmedabad to attend a tourism promotion event organised by the Travel Agents Society of Kashmir (TASK), the apex body of tour operators in the region. He also visited the during his trip and praised the initiative as a symbol of national pride. Speaking to the media, Abdullah said that his govt has conducted a comprehensive security audit of all tourist destinations. "Places where security can be ensured have been reopened, while some remain closed as a precaution," he said. In Vadodara, Abdullah praised the Sardar Sarovar Dam project for bringing water to drought-affected areas during his visit to the dam in Kevadia. "This dam brought water to areas that knew nothing but drought. It was J&K's misfortune that we could not even imagine such projects because we were not allowed to stop the water. Now that the Indus Water Treaty is suspended, maybe there will be some such projects in J&K too, so that there will be no shortage of water and electricity," Abdullah said while speaking to mediapersons. He also visited the Statue of Unity, the world's tallest statue.

This is world's tallest hotel, no one has checked in for decades, It's not in US, UAE, or Japan…, it's located in …, name is… World's Tallest Hotel: Whenever we think about magnificent buildings, we think of the United States or the United Arab Emirates (UAE). And when we think about North Korea, our mind thinks of nuclear missiles and bombs. But what if we say that the world's tallest hotel is located in North Korea? Surprising right, but it's true. The building's structure reminds one of the Egyptian pyramids. We are talking about Hotel Ryugyong, which is also known for its bad luck. Let's know more about Hotel Ryugyong. Hotel Ryugyong Hotel Ryugyong is surely a marvellous building that resembles an Egyptian pyramid because of its structure. Its height is just a little less than twice that of the Statue of Unity. The height of the Statue of Unity is 182 meters, while the height of this hotel is 330 meters. Hotel Ryugyong has 105 floors. But sadly, the luxurious hotel is still waiting for its first guest. Yes, no guest has come here to date. Built with big dreams and plans, Hotel Ryugyong is the world's tallest hotel but today it is known as a desolate and deserted building. The hotel's exterior is fitted with LEDs, which are used for nightly displays of promotional material and symbols during major national events. Inauguration Not Done After knowing about the Hotel Ryugyong, you must be wondering why no guests have checked in here. Well, the answer is that it has not been inaugurated yet. Incomplete Construction Work The hotel has not been inaugurated yet because the construction work inside this building is not yet completed. This building is ready only from the outside, but the inside is still deserted. Work started in 1987 As per reports, the construction of this building started in 1987 and it was completed in 1992. Further construction work was stopped due to the economic crisis, as aid stopped after the collapse of the Soviet Union. The work was completed by 2011 In 2008, an Egyptian company started a USD180 million exterior glass and aluminium cladding project. The work was completed in 2011. However, the hotel has been in need of interior work ever since.
