A massive fire that broke out early today at a fuel warehouse in the Al Hamriyah Port area has been contained with no injuries, according to local media reports citing Sharjah Police.
The blaze engulfed flammable materials, thus sending thick plumes of black smoke into the sky, said the report.
This triggered an extensive emergency response from the UAE Civil Defence, the Sharjah Police, and the National Guard, which quickly swung into action and prevented it from spreading to adjacent facilities.
Major General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police and Chairman of the Local Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Management Team in Sharjah, confirmed that the fire has been fully brought under control.
He noted that relevant authorities have begun cooling operations at the site.
Specialised technical teams from Laboratories and Forensic Evidence Department will determine the cause of the fire and assess the damages in coordination with concerned entities, he added.

Khimji Ramdas Special Projects delivers world-class indoor shooting range

The Special Projects Division of Khimji Ramdas has completed and handed over a state-of-the-art Indoor Shooting Range 'Action Point', a one-of-its-kind world-class sporting facility designed to elevate Oman's standing in shooting sports and tactical training. Action Point's indoor shooting range in Muscat has been developed in collaboration with Cubic Technologies Singapore, a global leader in defence training systems. The shooting range is fully equipped facility that delivers an unparalleled live-fire experience. Located at the Active Oman Centre (Oman Automobile Association), it features six specialised shooting ranges: Two 25-m pistol ranges with retrievable targets for 9mm pistols; one 50-m tactical range featuring LOMAH (Location of Miss and Hit) target systems; one 100-m rifle range with retrievable targets for 5.56mm caliber rifles; a globally unique indoor shotgun (skeet/trap) range; an air gun range (currently under development). All ranges are equipped with smart bullet traps that safely collect projectiles into designated channels, advanced electronic target systems for real-time feedback, and air purification systems that ensure a healthy and safe environment by removing dust and gases generated by shooting. The facility is designed to cater to a wide spectrum of users - ranging from first-time visitors and hobby shooters to competitive marksmen, private security agencies, and government entities. The experience begins with a comprehensive safety briefing at a dedicated reception and briefing area, followed by closely monitored sessions where each visitor is accompanied by a qualified instructor who ensures safety and provides technical guidance throughout, a statement said. Col (Retd) Nasser bin Ali Al Amri, General Manager - Action Point, stated: 'Action Point was envisioned as more than just a facility - it is an experience that combines adrenaline, precision, and professionalism. Our partnership with Khimji Ramdas and Cubic Defence has enabled us to bring international-level shooting disciplines to Oman, while maintaining the highest standards of safety and supervision. We aim to nurture responsible firearms sportsmanship in an environment that inspires confidence and excellence. 'To ensure operational excellence, the training staff at Action Point was selected from national talents of both genders, in coordination with the Ministry of Labor, from among job seekers. They received intensive coaching from a global leader specialized in training instructors for indoor ranges, ensuring they deliver high levels of professional and technical performance.' Varun Pankaj Khimji, Director - Khimji Ramdas, said: 'This project reflects our commitment to delivering turnkey, high-performance solutions that support national training infrastructure and innovation. Civil Defence Launches Nationwide Summer Safety Campaigns to Protect Lives and Property

sk As part of its ongoing commitment to public safety, the General Directorate of Civil Defence has launched a series of nationwide awareness campaigns and targeted programmes aimed at promoting a culture of safety during the high-risk summer months. Brigadier Ali Mohammed Al Kubaisi, Director-General of Civil Defence, announced that the initiative forms a core element of the Directorate's strategic plan to prevent and mitigate incidents linked to extreme heat and the improper use of energy sources. He confirmed that over 65 locations across all governorates of the Kingdom of Bahrain will be covered as part of this year's campaign. Highlighting the importance of public cooperation, Brig. Al Kubaisi stressed the need to follow safety regulations to protect both lives and property. He noted that, in the past three years, the Directorate has conducted 265 awareness campaigns targeting key risk-prone areas. These include home safety, worker accommodations, fuel stations, factories, warehouses, workshops, and even specific seasonal focuses such as pilgrim safety and safety practices during the Ashura season. Additional initiatives have been rolled out to address safety in places of worship, commercial warehouses, parking areas, and swimming pools. The Directorate has also implemented self-protection programmes for shop workers and educational campaigns in partnership with local institutions. With summer temperatures on the rise, Brig. Al Kubaisi warned of the increased risk of fires caused by the overuse or poor maintenance of electrical appliances. He urged the public to conduct regular maintenance checks, inspect wiring and plugs, replace damaged components, and ensure that appliances meet national safety standards. Proper ventilation, particularly for air conditioners, and routine cleaning of filters and fans were also emphasised to reduce the risk of overheating. The Director-General reaffirmed the Directorate's dedication to raising public awareness through community partnerships involving both government and private sector entities. He called on all citizens and residents to adhere to safety guidelines and cooperate fully with Civil Defence teams to maintain a secure and stable
