Deepika Padukone's demand for an eight-hour shift post-embracing motherhood has created a stir in the industry. While Kajol, Ajay Devgn and Mani Ratnam supported the actress, Chitrangda Singh, who is basking in the success of Housefull 5, shared that it all depends on an actor's equation with their director and producer.
'This is about the personal relationship between an actor's understanding with the director, the requirements of a director, the requirements of a producer- If they can, I am sure they will manage. But at times there are restrains- restrain of time, restrain of money, scheduling, so it is not possible. So, I think we also have to respect that aspect, because after all, time is money in this industry- everybody is investing in a project," Singh shared while talking to IANS.

'So I feel it is everyone's own choice and I think Deepika is a very big actress and it is her right to make a choice, it's her privilege to make a choice," she added.
While the fiasco between Deepika and Vanga has been garnering headlines for quite some time, an earlier report emerged discussing the actress's demands for Spirit.
'The actor had reportedly demanded ₹25 crores for approximately 35 days of shoot, along with a 10% profit share, extensive entourage expenses, and even expressed unwillingness to deliver dialogues in Telugu—something the director felt strongly about. To top it off, confidential plot details from Spirit were allegedly leaked, which raised serious concerns among the producers," the source told News18.
According to the report, Sandeep 'believes actors speaking their own lines'. 'Contrary to speculation, her restricted filming schedule of under 8 hours a day was never the primary issue. In filmmaking, working hours are fluid and depend on location, lighting, and various technical factors. You could shoot for 2 hours or 8, depending on the scene. What truly matters is flexibility, collaboration, and respect for the craft. It's about commitment. Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga believes actors speaking their own lines builds authenticity and emotional connect with the audience," the source added.

Amid Deepika Padukone's 8-Hour Work Demand, Genelia Deshmukh Says "I Do Work For 10 Hours, It's Not Impossible"

New Delhi: Deepika Padukone's exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit has led to several industry people reacting to her 8-hour work demand. Genelia Deshmukh who is gearing up for the release of Sitaare Zameen Par, weighed in on how it might get tough for working mothers, but it is not unmanageable. The actress further added that she works for 10 hours. What's Happening After Deepika Padukone's exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit over her 8-hour work demand, Genelia Deshmukh recently shared her opinion on the same. Genelia told Zoom, "It is tough but it is not impossible. I do work for 10 hours a day and there are days when the director asks to extend it to 11 or 12 hours. I think it's fair but we just need time to make those adjustments. When you have a day or two where you have to overdo, it's also an understanding and a process that needs to be done." About Sitaare Zameen Par Sitaare Zameen Par is a sequel to the 2007 film Taare Zameen Par. The plot of the film revolves around a frustrated basketball coach played by Aamir. He serves community service by training Neurodivergent adults after a DUI. He gains perception in this journey and his outlook towards life changes as he trains these players. The female lead is Genelia Deshmukh. There are 10 debutantes in the film - Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar. In A Nutshell Deepika Padukone's exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit had several reasons, some of them being a reasonable 8-hour shift demand, profit-sharing settlement, and a massive paycheck that did not sit well with the director. Since then several people from the film fraternity have been sharing their views on the fair work-hour debate, especially for new working moms. Genelia Deshmukh shared her views on how it can get difficult but is not impossible entirely.
