Hospitals and welfare hostels to be developed with CSR funds
Speaking at a meeting held with superintendents of various hospitals, officials from education and welfare department and college principals here on Tuesday, he directed the officials to provide better services to the people and that basic needs required for the institutions and hospitals should be identified and brought to his notice.
The officials were instructed to submit reports related to critical services. The DM&HO, KGH Administrator, chest, mental care, eye hospital, Victoria, ENT, RCD Hospital superintendents reported various issues to the collector. They requested the District Collector to provide labs, ramps and drinking water facilities.
Requirements of hydraulic operation tables, LED lights, elevators, power backup system, CCTV cameras, roads, parking sheds, RO plants, and modern medical equipment were highlighted on the occasion.
Later, officials of the primary and higher education department, welfare department explained their requirements to Harendhira Prasad. They requested that special tutors should be appointed to train and teach the students on basics in the hostels. Also, the requirement of a playground was brought to the fore.
Addressing their concerns, the collector assured that meeting halls, toilets, and extra classrooms, CCTVs in girls' hostels, roti-makers for a few hostels will be provided. Repair works need to be carried out in a few Anganwadi centres, he underlined.
Responding to their issues, the collector mentioned that immediate assistance will be provided for essential services. Special focus would be paid to provide basic facilities in hospitals and hostels with the support of CSR funds from various companies, he said.
He instructed the KGH Administrator to allocate one of their ambulances to the ENT hospital at the earliest.
Further, Harendhira Prasad mentioned that steps will be taken to construct and make a working women's hostel available for the convenience of PG students in Chest, ENT Hospital and Government Hospital for Mental Care. He informed that proposed additional dialysis units in KGH would be facilitated soon.
The proposals related to the utilisation of CSR funds and development works were reviewed in detail. The collector directed the medical officials to participate in achieving the Swarnandhra Vision @ 2047 goal.

"TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan" Screening Drive Conducted in Jogulamba Gadwal District
Jogulamba Gadwal: As part of the nationwide "TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan" (Tuberculosis-Free India Campaign), a special screening and awareness program was conducted today at the District Tuberculosis Control Office under the direction of District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO) Dr. S.K. Siddappa and under the supervision of Dr. G. Raju, District TB Program Officer. Objective of the Program: The campaign focused on screening individuals from high-risk populations for tuberculosis and related health issues. The initiative aims to identify TB cases early and ensure timely treatment and care, contributing to the Government of India's mission to eliminate TB by 2025. 🌾 Targeted High-Risk Groups Screened: Screening was conducted for the following categories: 1. Individuals aged above 60 years 2. Underweight individuals 3. Smokers and alcohol consumers 4. Individuals with a history of TB 5. People living in high-risk areas, especially those with hypertension and diabetes. Health Services Provided: As part of the screening, the following diagnostic and health check-up services were offered: Cy-TB Test Chest X-Ray TB Sputum Test Blood Pressure Check Blood Tests These tests aim to detect not only active or latent TB infections but also assess general health conditions that may contribute to the vulnerability of individuals to TB. Registrations must for newly-weds, pregnant women, infants, says Collector
District Collector Harendhira Prasad on Friday directed the health department officials to take adequate measures to prevent maternal and infant deaths in the district. He conducted a review meeting on maternal and infant mortality, immunisation programmes, malaria, dengue and other health-related issues with medical officers at the Collectorate on Friday (August 1, 2025). Mr. Prasad said that registrations of newly-wed couples, pregnant women, and infants must be recorded and instructed that special focus be given to high-risk pregnancies and low-birth-weight cases. He also asked the officials to ensure such cases receive adequate nutritional support and are shifted to hospitals in advance to avoid complications. He has also directed the District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) Jagadeeswara Rao to provide proper training to ASHA and ANM workers. During the meeting, the Collector also observed that hospitals which are conducting excessive abortions should be closely monitored and sought a detailed report on the causes of abortions. He also suggested setting up milk-feeding rooms for infants at bus stands, railway stations and shopping malls. Strict inspections must be conducted at scanning centres to prevent gender determination tests, while stringent surveillance and special inspection teams should be deployed for IVF centres, the Collector ordered. On malaria and dengue prevention, the Collector instructed officials to observe 'Dry Day' every Friday to eliminate mosquito breeding sites. He also stressed on the need for proper measures to prevent the spread of seasonal diseases and immunisation drives. During the meeting, the Collector released a poster marking the Breastfeeding Week celebrations.
