I will not join BJP, nor will it accept me: Lakshman Singh
Bhopal: Former Congress MLA Lakshman Singh, who was expelled from the party on Wednesday, said he received a phone call and was asked to write that
Rahul Gandhi
would be Prime Minister.
"I got a phone call and was asked to give in writing that Rahul Gandhi will be Prime Minister, then my expulsion would be stopped.
I refused," he said, speaking to reporters in Guna on Thursday.
"Since I did not agree to write that, I was expelled from the party. Only those who say that Rahul Gandhi will be Prime Minister can remain in the
Congress party
. I cannot do that," he said, explaining his expulsion from the party.
Lakshman Singh, who joined the
BJP
in late 2003 and contested as a party candidate from Rajgarh Lok Sabha seat in the 2004 Parliamentary elections, said, "Neither will I go to join the BJP and nor will the BJP accept me."

Kedarnath chopper crash: Uttarakhand government suspends helicopter services
After seven people, including the pilot, lost their lives in a chopper crash near Kedarnath, Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced that Helicopter services will remain suspended in the region for the next two days. "A control and command centre should be set up. Strict action will be taken against the culprits in this accident. Helicopter services will not run today or tomorrow. These services will remain closed until the safety of the passengers is ensured," Dhami told ANI on Sunday. The BJP leader also said that aviation companies have been directed to follow the rules of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, warning of strict action against the culprits of today's tragedy. Gujarat ex-CM Vijay Rupani's remains identified after plane crash
NEW DELHI: The DNA of former Gujarat chief minister has been matched with remains recovered from the wreckage of Air India Flight AI171, which crashed near Ahmedabad airport on Thursday. 'The DNA matching of Vijay Rupani, the former chief minister, is complete. We will coordinate with the family to take the body to Rajkot,' he told reporters. Rupani was among the 242 people on board the London-bound flight, which went down shortly after take-off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. His son had arrived in Ahmedabad on Saturday to provide a blood sample for the DNA identification process, which was being conducted at BJ Medical College. Rajkot observes shutdown for Rupani The city of Rajkot in Gujarat observed a half-day shutdown on Saturday to pay tribute to Rupani. Rupani, a senior BJP leader and native of Rajkot, served as Gujarat's chief minister from 2016 to 2021. He was also twice elected as MLA from the Rajkot West constituency, having started his political journey as a party worker before becoming councillor and mayor. At the time of his death, he was serving as the BJP's in-charge for Punjab. In a show of collective mourning, the Rajkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry had appealed on Friday for shops and commercial establishments to remain closed until Saturday afternoon.
